Remarks
I think the college is doing really well. They just need to be more vigilant with the over - all performance of the students. Specially for the doctorate courses since these are the ones that make a university be called good or bad.
Course Curriculum Overview
PhD is a very different course from all other courses. We first have to complete a course before giving our viva and written exam. Sharda has all available resources for our help and the coursework is good.
Placement Experience
Sharda give internship. fellowship as we call it to the full time scholars only. The amount of stipend ranges from 8000 - 18000 depending upon the time you spend. The students work under their designated supervisors and take classes.
College Events
Sharda hosts a lot of cultural and technical events. Being a university, the annual fest is really big and very popular amongst nearby students. Apart from this, they also host technical fests from time to time. And research workshops too.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees ranges from being low to high depending upon the courses. For technical courses, it is usually high compared to the other UPTU colleges around the university. It's mostly more than a lac p. a for most of the courses.
Fees and Financial Aid
Sharda do has some scholarships on the basis of merit. The bright students get scholarship opportunities. As far as loans are concerned, I have no knowledge but I'm sure they have such facilities available.
Campus Life
Being a doctorate student, I've been to a lot of other colleges and universities too. But the kind of student diversity you'll find in Sharda, you won't see anywhere else. Most of the students you see around are from other ethnicities and cultures. I personally never saw any disregard to student ethnicity, race or gender. There are equal number of students from Uganda to Afghanistan to India. All are treated the same way.
Hostel Facilities
Sharda probably has the best hostels in the city. It has in campus hostels for the students. I don't live in a hostel but I've seen the infrastructure and the buildings. And they are quite good. My classmates staying there are quite satisfied.
Alumni/Alumna
Sharda doesn't have a lot of doctorate alumnus. I hardly met any of my seniors during my course duration. And those I met were not happy with the coursework and the procedures they faced in the university.
Admission
I searched for PhD courses in lots of universities but mostly had a list of preference given to their alumnus or faculty choices only. So I applied in Sharda because it was nearby my place. They took a written test. Out of all the entrants, I guess 50 were selected for interviews. A committee of 5 members took my interview and I got selected. A total of 12 - 14 were selected I think.
Faculty
The faculty is very good. They discuss each point with the students and listen to their queries too. All the facilities for my course were experienced and were expert in their particular field of research.
