Remarks

A few remarks I have about the college - I really do recommend this college if you live nearby and want to get your basic knowledge in. However, I would suggest that the college be made more like a college than a school, I find a lot of students complaining about basic necessities and the college management does nothing about most of it. They are very reluctant to offer what students ask for, and in turn students just lose interest during their studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is very diverse. However, if you choose SRM Ramapuram, you are limited to the courses that you can take. Usually the courses are pre-chosen and given to you with exception to courses like an additional language - German, Japanese and French. However, even though they are pre-selected, they cover a really wide variety of syllabus and would be beneficial in giving you a wider understanding of the subject.

Placement Experience

2.5

There are a wide list of companies that come in for campus placement drives. However, I wasn't taking part in any of them since I had decided to take up higher studies in the US. I got admission to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and I took it up.

College Events

1.5

There are quite a few events. The college does celebrate and have several events that allow students to participate in them. However, it isn't as big and grand as the bigger campuses offer. Moreover, sometimes students use this as an advantage to get out of class and thereby, the faculty are forced to be strict to who can take part in the events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is definitely more expensive than what the other colleges offer at a similar level. The fee is substantially more if you wish to take up accommodation and food at the university. I think it is ok if you were to join the KTR campus due to its bigger infrastructure, but is not worth the cost for a smaller university in the city.

Fees and Financial Aid

No I had not opted for any scholarships or loans. Also, I have not heard of anyone (atleast in my friend's group) getting any scholarships on their tuition. However, there have been prize awards to students getting top ranks in the university.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is fun, as expected by most students. They are however a bit too particular about dress codes and treat students as if they are in school. But after classes, many students hang around and play sports if they wish. There are some sport competitions that are conducted every year and some students take part in it. Otherwise, unless you're really interested, the college doesn't push you into participating into anything. It's the student's responsibility to express what they want to take part in.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a semi-active alumni network on network and on facebook. They are sometimes helpful in sharing some information about campus drives and job searching. Compared to other universities, I think SRM is doing a good job in continuing the network.

Admission

My brother had studied in this university before I did and he suggested that I could study here. The admission initially consisted of an entrance SRMEEE exam which you would take up. Based on your score and rank, you would visit the SRM KTR campus on a date assigned to you and choose your degree. Obviously, getting a better rank means a better choice. Initially, people opt to go to the SRM KTR campus since it's more diverse and has better opportunities. However, the Ramapuram campus is in the city and is very convenient if you live in the city.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty consist of a mix of some who are motivated to teach and some who are just fed up with the subject overall. It's the student's duty to find the ones that will guide and motivate them. About the clarity of lecturing, most of them have a fixed syllabus to follow and have notes which they provide to students. Other than that, there are a few that are motivated to expand your knowledge in the field, so reach out to them when you get to know them.
