My College SRM

The college is good. It can be better. Many things can be improved. Curriculum can be more relaxed and more importance can be given on extra-curricular activities and student growth. The food available in mess can be improved. The exam structure can be more relaxed. There are way too many exams. We give exams almost every month.

The course curriculum is heavily focused on theory and less on the practical application of concepts. There are many examinations. First is cycle test 1 of 10 marks, then cycle test 2 of 15 marks, then cycle test 3 of 15 marks, and university exam of 100 marks.

Placements is decently acceptable. SRM tries hard to give equal opportunities to everyone. However, no internship is provided. The placements are good compared to many colleges in India and very good offers are given.

There are two major college fests, Aaruush and Milan. Aarush is a techno-management fest that happens in September. It incorporates many events that include technical aspects and competitions as such. It brings many celebrities to the college for performances. Milan is the cultural fest with many cultural activities ranging from dance, drama, singing, music, art, etc.

Moderately feasible. Some might say that is on the slightly expensive side as it is 3.5 lakhs per annum and 2.5 lakhs for the rank holders under 10000. Other than that, there is examination fees every semester around 3000.

There is a scholarship program for those students whose rank is upto 10000 in the SRMJEEE. They receive 1 lakh scholarship every year. There are many other scholarships awarded to those students under the sports quota, performing arts, etc.

SRM is well known for sports in south india. There are many extracurricular activites such as dance, fashion, drama, music, kickboxing, etc. There are many technical teams that work hard on creating good solutions to world problems like Beeclust, DSC SRM, Srmkzilla, etc.

Yes I have opted for hostel. The infrastructure is poor and beneath expectations. While there is AC rooms with attached bathroom available, there is a severe, and I mean severe fungus problem that has grappled all the students in SRM. It is truly unfortunate how frequently our belongings catch fungus.

The senior students are helpful and good. They try to offer good advice and guide us on which subjects and faculties to choose. They give us tips on the subjects too. The alumni network is comprehensive and well connected however I am not a part of it currently.

I gave the SRMJEEE extrance exam and then received a score which gave me a rank and based on that I went for the counseling session where I was given an option to choose a stream of B.Tech. I chose Computer Science and Engineering then.

The faculty is dedicated and hardworking. But the opinion is split since many are very complacent in their attitude towards teaching the curriculum. They should learn the latest technologies instead of depending on outdated course material. There are a few faculties who are kind and empathetic.
