Remarks

They're crazy for collecting money. You're caught holding hands with any person of opposite gender - fine. You're not wearing id card - fine. Absent from college and sitting in your hostel without medical certificate - fine. Curfew time is 7 and you reach the hostel at 7:01 - fine. Caught entering the class after 9:35am - fine. Everything begins with a hefty fine and ends with it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum is easy and it has been made sure to keep it simple so that even the not-so-bright students score good and pass with flying colors. But it's quite outdated as well. It's really easy to score 7 CGPA if you keep your mind open during lectures.

Placement Experience

4

400+ companies visit the campus every year and the placement is totally dependant upon your hard work and your luck. Make sure you have a good reputation in front of the Corporate Resource Centre people as they can help you out with some good companies as they have many friends Working in the industry.

College Events

2

The biggest fest is CUFEST (it's our cultural fest) and usually, it is celebrated for 3-5 days depending upon the number of events. Then comes the Tech Fest, Literary Fest, etc. Also you'll get the chance to attend 9x Tashan Nites if you're a CUian as they're held here in CU campus only and every other day there's one or the other celebrity coming into the campus for promotions so you have a chance to meet them (the Punjabi singers and actors especially).

Fee Structure And Facilities

When I took admission the fee was quite affordable but now it is safe to say that it's expensive. You can take admission in the sister college, CGC (Landran or Jhanjheri) they have the same fests and even board members are same only the university is different. Plus they have less fee and less number of seats.

Fees and Financial Aid

All scholarships are good till you maintain 7.5 CGPA. There are a number of scholarships, board exams, JEE main, based on CUCAT, then there is sibling scholarship and if you've done your study from here and you're again here for some other course then also you'll get a scholarship.

Campus Life

4.5

It's more of an attendance-seeking college rather than a sports one. They want you to maintain 90% attendance and if not that much then atleast 75% so that your teachers know you well. I've already told you to maintain a good relationship with your professors and you won't face any problem throughout the college life.

Hostel Facilities

2

Worst! You will get a 4 sharing room throughout your student journey and the hostels are not worthy of living. There are rats that will eat your shoes up and tear off your bedsheets. Then there are a lot of mosquitoes that won't let you sleep and then there's no AC and there's so hefty bill that they charge.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are helpful to a great extent but to get to a senior is where the trouble lies. There are thousands of children studying and you cannot estimate the age of any one of them, you might reach to a faculty member if any guidance is required because they're young and have been just out of college so they know you better.

Admission

You can enter either through JEE Mains (if cleared) or CUCAT, if you've got a great score you might even get a scholarship for your whole course, the condition being you should maintain 7.5 minimum CGPA. I basically sat for CUCAT and cleared it (Trust me, it's as simple as an addition) and then was awarded scholarship of 10% on tuition fee per semester. So in the fifth semester I fall short of 7.5 CGPA and they immediately withdrew the scholarship. Please note that once you get <7.5 CGPA, you cannot get the scholarship back.

Faculty

1

Mostly the faculty is newly out of college people and hence, they can relate to your problems easily and are quite helpful in need. Make sure to keep a healthy and cordial relationship with them or else be ready to face the consequences as they have the full power to even disallow you to sit for end-term final exams.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
