Remarks

The college is over all good and is building up two new buildings. One of the main draw back is we dont have a good play ground as the back side of college is a wetland and it is illegal and not possible to clear the land for ground. But the college takes every steps for the improvement of sports caliber in students and the annual sports meet is done on Municipal Stadium, Pathanamthitta which is a hub of sports.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

College is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University or KTU. The syllabus is little simplified this year. Exam comprises of 100 marks and 40 marks required to pass. Also internals play crusual role.

Placement Experience

4.5

I am a first year student and it has only been a short while I have joined this college. I had heard from seniors that this college provides good opportunities for placement. Many students get already placed in good companies. I'm not sure about other things in the question.

College Events

5

The college holds celebrations of Onam and Christmas. It also has freshers day, Sports day and Arts. Tech fest is also carried out. College has an NSS unit which has good volunteer strength and carries out various social services activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible as it is a government college. 30000 rupees is taken from students under merit and fee waiver is given for most meritorious student. For admission under NRI quota, rupees one lakh is taken. There is no donation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Various scholarship schemes like Merit cum means, E grants, Fishermen scholarship for such studenrs are given. All are provided by the government. college office takes good care of these applications and ensures that each deserved student has easily access to scholarship.

Campus Life

4.5

Sports and Arts are well organized in the college. The college was most affected by the 2018 Kerala floods and over 2 floors submerged under water. Lab and equipments are damaged in that. But now the college is bringing back the colours back to normal with active participation of students and overall we have overcomed.

Alumni/Alumna

Ofcourse the senior students are helpful in all ways. There is no sort of ragging. No bad impression yet on the college. When Junior students faces a problem, we can approach seniors and they will help us immensely.

Admission

I am an NRI Quota student. This is a government college under CAPE, Govt. of Kerala and one must qualify enterence to get admitted. Other students can only get admission through NRI quota. Only 3 seats under NRI quota for each course.

Faculty

4.5

All teachers are experienced staff and every one is appointed by the government. All of them teaches well. They encourage doubt sessions and other personality development programs. All are very friendly to students.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell of the college is very active. You can get internships starting 2nd year and placements starting 3rd year. About 75% of people get placed. Many MNCs like Texas Instruments are consistent hirers. The highest package of 2025 for my course is 1 crpa. The average is about 7 lpa. A student can get 5,6 offers. I plan on higher studies abroad because I want to learn more in-depth about the course.

Placements are really good. Since college is related to ISRO maximum students with cgpa above than 7 are elligible for ISRO interviews and are selected based on their performance. Apart from ISRO many campanies like Texas Instruments, UTS, Mercedez , also come here for recruuitment. Many also opt for M.tech and MBA after graduation

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies - [KUFOS], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Food Technology)
Reviewed on May 11, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.
