NIT Tiruchirappalli

It's a good college to be in. The crowd is decent. The faculty is good. The infrastructure is much better than many other colleges. It gets a little too hot in the even semesters but it gets bearable with time.

It's very student friendly. It's a flexible curriculum but generally we have 2 cycle tests, 2 assignments and the end semester exam for each course. Sometimes the faculty even suggest keeping a mid-semester examination instead of 2 cycle tests.

They are good enough but not as good as the IITs. Very few companies come for civil engineering. They come for jobs after final year as well as for internships for third year students. They coordinate with the training and placement department.

Most events are student-run. We have 2 major fests, one being cultural and the other techno-managerial. Apart from them, we even have symposiums for every department and also an exclusive fest for first year students.

The fee structure is very feasible. It's about 65k rupees for tuition and 30k rupees for hostel and mess fees, per semester. There are fee waivers for those who belong to the reserved categories in tuition fees.

Every semester the college offers to allow extra waivers in the fees for students of the reserves categories. They even pay you back the registration fees used to write GATE examination in the final year.

There are a lot of them. Name it and we have it. There is a sports center, two gyms, swimming pool, basketball court, badminton court, volleyball court and a big group for cricket and football. There are various other clubs also.

I do stay in the hostel and it is satisfactory. The girls have a curfew and attendance system which ends at 9pm on weekdays and 9:30 pm on weekends. Boys have no such thing. For girls there are two messes and they are close-by to our hostels.

The college has a very strong alumni network. They are very helpful and help fund the students activities occasionally. They even come back for talks and interactions. They are very helpful when students reach out to them.

I wrote JEE MAINS and qualified it by getting above the cut off. Once those results were out I had to set my preference list of colleges and submit it. After few weeks based on my score and availability of seats I got in.

I think they are really good and very experienced along with being highly qualified. We have professors, assistant professors, associate professors, temporary faculty and even some visiting professors.
