Remarks
The Bangalore campus is the R&D hub for the National Institute of Design. That’s why more emphasis is paid on developing IT-based techniques for innovative design. My overall experience with the NID is filled with only positives. I will definitely recommend the college to innovative Designers and creative thinkers, not that the institute needs any recommendation.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was quite thorough and covered almost all the elements necessary for a fully fletched designing career. But I did have some issues with the course structure. For instance, the syllabus hasn’t changed to help students meet today’s market needs.
Placement Experience
The placement of National Institute of Design is best in the industry. If you got an admission in the NID, you don’t have to worry about career, placements, etc. It’s all sorted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total fee for my Master of Design course was a little more than 8 lacs. For first year it was around 3 Lacs per year.
Campus Life
NID actually makes you sensitive to the society and world around you and emphasizes on creating an atmosphere beyond college grades, numbers and placements. No bookish teaching, all practical work.
Alumni/Alumna
Despite having a massive alumni network, the institute does not bank on its alumni network for furthering its knowledge base or helping current students learn from their experiences.
Admission
Candidates have to clear the entrance exam in order to be eligible for admission. The objective of these exams is to assess the knowledge, skills and behavioral abilities of candidates. After that a merit list will be prepared for the selected candidates. I preferred the Bangalore campus since it is closer to my home.
Faculty
The faculty is qualified, there is no doubt about that. Probably the best one in India. Even the classrooms are designed to eradicate the conventional way of teaching and enhance mutual understanding. Every session was an interactive one. Faculty were accessible, and tried to resolve every query.
