Amity University Kolkata is a private institution situated in Kodampukur and was established in 2015. The university provides a wide variety of courses in different streams such as Science, Business and Management Studies, Engineering, Law, IT and Software, Arts, etc. BTech in CSE is one of the courses provided by the institute. The following are the factors that one should consider before joining CSE in Amity University Kolkata:

• Fee Structure

Since the institute is private the fee structure is not quite affordable for the middle class family. The institute comprises students from the upper-middle class and high-class families. The course fee for BTech CSE is Rs 1, 05, 500 per annum.

• Admission and Scholarship

The students are supposed to attend Amity Joint Entrance Examination and their scores in the 12th standard are also a deciding factor to grab the seats in CSE or in any branch the students are interested in. The scholarship facilities are offered to the students on the Merit list. Those students who scored above 90 percent in the 12th board examination could avail a 50 percent reduction from total fees and those students score 80 percent could avail a 25 percent reduction from total fees. This is available only in the first year. The students should maintain good CGPA to get the fee reduction throughout the course period.

• Faculties

Faculties are quite well experienced and supportive. Most of them either hold a Ph.D. or pursuing it presently. The faculties create an interactive atmosphere and employ different teaching methods which enhances the clarity of concepts taught.

• Infrastructure and laboratories

The institute was established in 2015. So, the infrastructure has a freshly built exterior. The CSE laboratories are fully furnished with brand new computers. But the labs are small.

• Placement 

All the placement activities are channeled from Amity University’s Noida campus. The highest salary package offered was Rs 28 lakhs and the average salary package was Rs 4 lakhs. Major companies in which the students placed were Amazon, Byju’s, L & T Infotech, ITC, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, etc.

Amity University has a famous online portal called ‘Amizone’. This portal provides information for class schedules, attendance, and other useful links. Students and parents get their own IDs and passwords after the student gets selected at Amity University.

The class timings are 9:15 am to 5:25 pm for the normal batch and the class timings of the evening batch are 12:55 pm to 7:15 pm. There are classes from Monday to Saturday.

ADMISSION AND SELECTION PROCESS:-

The admission is done on the basis of class 12th marks, which is followed by an English Language test and an interview.

Direct admission is offered to the students securing an aggregate of more than 80% marks in their class 12th boards only on the basis of their Amity Application Form.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for admission in B.Sc. biotechnology are:-

1. The student must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their Class 12th.
2. The student must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their class 12th board exams from any recognized Board (CBSE/ISC/State Board).

FEES:

The fee per semester for the program is INR 62500 for the Non-Sponsored students whereas it is INR 93750 for the Sponsored students.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS:

Various Scholarships are offered to students for admission in Amity University, Kolkata in undergraduate courses on the basis of merit.

• 100 % Scholarship is offered to students scoring 93% aggregate and above in their class 12th board exams (CBSE/ISC/State Board)

1. Merit-based scholarship

If one needs to sustain the scholarship for the entire course period one should continue to be within the first 5 ranks in the merit list. If one score is above 85% in 12th Board examination, one could get a 50% scholarship. In order to sustain it, one should maintain their rank in between 6 to 10 in their entire course period. 25 percent scholarship is available for the ones who score 80% in their 12th Board examination and they could it in their entire course period if they maintain their score in that range.

2. Sports scholarship

The admission is given on Fast Track for the eligible students without Sports Trial and interview. The qualified ones are supposed to submit their sports certificates for the last three years and application form. The sports items accepted for the scholarship are Athletics, Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Shooting, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball. 100 percent scholarship is given to International Players, National medal winners are given a 50 percent scholarship.
