The most annoying thing about VNIT Nagpur is definitely the outdated curriculum, especially in the Mechanical Engineering course. I feel like we are stuck learning methods and subjects that are no longer relevant in the industry, like the traditional approach to engineering drawing. The exams are also pretty tough, and the lack of modern teaching methods makes it frustrating. The faculty can sometimes be strict and only focus on attendance, which adds to the stress.
During my four years at VNIT, the most irritating thing I encountered was the dreadful noise some people made while cleaning their throat or tongue. This usually happened early in the morning. The sound was so awful that it's impossible to describe it with any combination of the 26 letters of the alphabet.
Professors snooping into students' personal lives is super annoying at VNIT Nagpur. It's the worst!
There was this time when my friend and I were literally told to get married by our professors. Yes, you read that right, twice. The first time, a professor from the Chemical department somehow got hold of poems my friend wrote for me (don't ask how, it's a long story). He made us admit we were dating and made sure our parents found out about our "relationship." He also insulted my friend's family for being Bihari while I am Maharashtrian, with the typical comment that Bihari guys come to college and trap Maharashtrian girls. Then he hauled us into his office and asked my friend if he planned to marry me, even making him promise he wasn't cheating on me.
The second incident happened while we were heading to the girls' hostel from the Electrical department. A professor caught us talking loudly near the substation and popped out of his house to lecture us. He went on about how small our problems are now and how getting married would prepare us for bigger issues in life.
If we're doing something wrong, sure, go ahead and suspend us. But making a big deal out of nothing and making us feel guilty for being in a relationship, which isn't even illegal, is just ridiculous. It's really none of their business.
The hostel facilities for the Chemical Engineering students can be quite annoying. While the rooms are okay, the mess food quality is disappointing and often lacks variety. Plus, the registration process for the hostel can be a hassle, and there are constant issues with cleanliness in the common areas. It's frustrating because these aspects can really affect your overall college experience.
One of the most annoying aspects of studying Civil Engineering at VNIT Nagpur is the strict attendance policy. You need to maintain above 75% attendance, and sometimes it feels like they prioritize this over actual learning. Also, the curriculum seems a bit outdated and doesn't fully align with current industry needs, which can be frustrating when trying to prepare for real-world applications.
