How is NMIT?

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology is a top-notch college in Bangalore. The campus facilities are impressive, and the faculty is great. For students living in hostels, the rooms are comfortable, have fast WiFi, and the food is tasty and clean.

The college also offers NCC, which ranks second in Karnataka. Hostel residents have parking options, and there are food courts on campus. The placement opportunities are fantastic, with most students landing jobs at reputable companies with good salaries. I strongly suggest students consider NMIT, as it's an outstanding choice.

NMIT offers a fulfilling experience for students in the Bachelor of Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The course curriculum is robust, focusing on current industry demands, and it includes practical applications. The faculty is approachable and provides ample support.

The college has a good placement record, with about 90% of students getting placed in companies like Infosys and Capgemini. The highest package reported is around 45 LPA, which is quite impressive. However, the fees for management quota students can be quite steep, around 7 lakh per year. Campus life is lively, with various clubs and events, making it a well-rounded experience.

As a student of Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering at NMIT, I can say the course is pretty comprehensive. The curriculum blends theory with practical work, which is essential for understanding real-world applications.

The placement rates are quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed in companies like TCS and Infosys, and the average package is about 6 LPA. However, the fees are relatively high for students coming through COMEDK, at about 2.6 lakh per year.

Despite this, the overall environment, including the annual fest, Anadyanta, and the various clubs, makes it a great place to study.

I'm in my final year of BE at NMIT, and honestly, it's been a terrible ride. They seem more interested in your money than your education. It's like they're not really teaching engineering, just pulling a fast one on us. The teachers? Not great at all. There's quite a bit of bias and favoritism, especially towards students from the South, and they often speak in Kannada. I've noticed that students from the South can be late by quite a bit and still get in, but I was turned away for being just 6 minutes late, and that was my only time being late. If you so much as whisper, your attendance gets cut, but this doesn’t apply to Southern students.

Most colleges have a 75% attendance rule, but not NMIT. They require 85%, and if you fall short, you have to pay a fine for each subject. They seem to hold back passing grades just to make us pay for revaluation, and if you fail even one subject, you’re stuck in college for an extra two months while everyone else enjoys their break.

The mess food? It's awful. In my first year, during the first week alone, 8-10 students got food poisoning and ended up in the hospital. Bugs in the food are just part of the deal here. The college is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by jungle for 3–4 kilometers. If you need to buy anything, even just to reach the main road, you're looking at a ?60 auto ride each way, and there's no scooty service.

The wifi is a joke, cutting out every few minutes. Plus, it's not available from 7 am to 4:30 pm, and conveniently, it always seems to break down over the weekend and doesn't get fixed until Monday. Mobile networks barely work on campus, especially in the hostel where even 2G speed is a luxury. Most fun things online are blocked because they say the wifi is for studying only.

The campus itself is tiny, smaller than my old school, and about the size of a medium hostel at an IIT or government college, despite being in such an isolated location. Everything I'm saying here is from my own experience and that of my friends. We don't want anyone else to waste their future by attending this so-called engineering college. There's more I could say, but I'll stop here. Bottom line: Avoid this place if you care about your future.

NMIT is an independent college affiliated with VTU in Belagavi. The placement scene is likely strong mainly for the Computer Science branch. The campus and transportation services are quite decent. When comparing NMIT in Nitte and Bangalore, Nitte tends to have a better reputation. Make sure to pick wisely and give it your best shot.
