ragging at MANIT Bhopal: all NITs have strong anti-ragging measures mandated by UGC. dedicated committees, hostel wardens, CCTV. serious ragging is rare and dealt with strictly (expulsion + FIR).
mild interaction culture (seniors calling freshers for intros) does exist in the first weeks but serious harassment is not the norm.
if you face ragging:
don't stay silent. reports at NITs are taken seriously and action is fast. speaking up protects you and your entire batch.
Ragging is still prevalent in MANIT, and it is much more serious than any other college. Those who claim that it is a zero ragging campus, consider ragging to be limited to physical assault. However, ragging includes all kinds of mistreatments and harassment.
The culture of fundas is a clear example of ragging on campus. One has to address the senior in a particular manner, and speak a lot of unnecessary things. If one doesn’t follow these fundas, there are serious consequences to it.
Roaming around the campus post class hours results in thrashing. The seniors verbally abuse and challenge freshers, even in front of security guards and professors. As a result of this culture, freshers are completely isolated from seniors.
It is hard to believe that such practices are prevalent in an Institute of National Importance. Some serious actions are needed to curb these harsh practices in MANIT Bhopal.
