procedure to get transcripts from Mumbai University (MU):

  • Online application: visit mu.ac.in ? examination ? transcripts/certified marksheets
  • Documents required: application form, original marksheets of all semesters, enrollment/PRN number, ID proof, passport photos
  • Fee: Rs.500-1,500 per copy depending on course and urgency. pay online or by DD
  • Processing time: regular 15-30 working days; tatkal/urgent 7 days with higher fee
  • Collection: from Fort campus examination building or through speed post if applied online

for foreign university applications (US, Canada, UK etc.) that need WES or similar verification, MU directly sends transcripts to WES on request — apply through MU's official WES process (separate application). this is critical for immigration/study abroad. allow 6-8 weeks for this process. check mu.ac.in for current procedures as MU has been digitizing many services.

MU transcripts are needed a lot for study abroad and immigration — here's the full current procedure.

Step-by-step process (2024-25):

  • Apply online at mu.ac.in ? Students Portal ? Certificates & Transcripts.
  • Fee: ?180 per transcript set (pay online via portal).
  • Documents required: Online application form + scanned copies of all semester marksheets / statement of marks + degree/provisional certificate + photo ID.
  • Processing time after document submission: 3-4 weeks.

Key details most guides miss:

  • Sealed transcript (for US/Canada/UK applications): Select the "Sealed in Official Envelope" option at the time of online application. Request this explicitly — it's an additional ?50/set. This is required by most foreign universities and WES evaluations.
  • Physical document submission: After online form submission, you need to visit MU's Fort campus (examination section) or Kalina campus with original marksheets for verification. Take originals + 2 sets of attested copies.
  • If you have pending KTs/ATKTs: Your transcript will show "Incomplete" until all papers are cleared. Clear backlogs before applying.
  • Courier delivery: Available via Speed Post (?150 extra). International courier: Not directly from MU — you'll need to send sealed transcripts yourself after receiving them.

Start at least 6-8 weeks before your application deadline. MU processing can get delayed during result declaration seasons (June/November).

Mumbai University doesn’t provide transcripts. It only provides attestation. You need to collect your transcript from the college you have studied. Then you need to get the transcripts attested from Mumbai University.

  • To get your transcripts, you need to apply to your college. If you have done a distant or corresponding course from Mumbai University, visit the IDOL building in MU, Kalina, and go to the particular course department room.
  • To avoid revisiting keep all your original documents and one self-attested xerox copy of the marksheet of the course you need the transcript for. Also keep the  ID card, hall ticket (for roll number), school leaving certificate, 10th certificate, birth certificate, DOB proof. If you don’t have the hall ticket, they will help you track it down. They may not ask for it but keeping the original and a xerox copy of the Pan and Adhar card is a good idea.
  • They will track down your transfer certificate number in their register. After that, they will give you a form to fill up. You also need to attach the required documents along with the form. You need to pay the required fees. They charge INR 750 per copy per course, currently.  Make a xerox of the receipt and attach it to the form and submit. They will give the transcript after 15 days. You will need to collect it personally.

You can complete the attestation online on the mu.etranscript.in. Attestation fees are separate. They will send the transcripts electronically to WES or the college or university you request.

Studied at University of Mumbai

Here are some steps through which you will be able to apply and get your transcript from Mumbai University.

  • First make a set of all the documents which you want to get attested like your mark sheets, certificates, etc., and also keep one extra copy for the university as they will need it for their reference.
  • Take one envelope for each set of documents and also write the address of the universities on it. Then take another envelope where you will keep all your documents together.
  • Take all original documents to the university as they will check and verify everything there and then you will get back all your documents.
  • Then you will have to submit your documents by visiting the university office which is located at Vidyarthi Vidyapeeth Bhavan, First Floor, B Road, Churchgate station. The office opens at 10:30 AM but people start arriving from 8:30 AM onwards and there will be long queues especially on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • There you will have to fill a form which will have all your basic information and then you wait for your turn.
  • When it's your turn you will be called inside along with your documents where everything will be checked and here you will have to give all your documents and envelopes to them.
  • You will also need to pay some money which will be based on your document count. The attestation charge per document is Rs 5 and the processing charges per document is Rs. 50. So if you have two documents then you will have to pay Rs 100+10 = Rs 110.
  • Then take the receipt and bring it with you when you come back to collect all your attested documents. Generally, you will be asked to come back after 25 days.
  • Then you will have to go back to the office to collect your documents along with the receipt given to you. There you will be asked to show your receipt and then after waiting for a few minutes you will get all your documents.

These are the complete steps that you will need to follow in order to get your transcripts from Mumbai University.
