KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar) BTech CSE seats:

KIIT is a large engineering university with multiple schools. for BTech CSE specifically:

  • KIIT has approximately 1,500-2,000 CSE seats per year across different specializations (CSE, CSE with specializations in AI/ML, Data Science, Cybersecurity etc.)
  • these are distributed across multiple batches/schools within KIIT
  • admission via KIITEE (KIIT Entrance Examination) or JEE Main score

check kiit.ac.in for the exact seat matrix for the current admission year — the number of seats and specialization names are updated annually. KIIT is one of the larger private technical universities in eastern India with good placement infrastructure, particularly in IT/software.

KIIT Bhubaneswar BTech CSE seats — the number is bigger than most people realize, and the sub-specializations matter for what you get.

Total BTech CS/IT intake at KIIT 2024-25 (approximate):

  • CSE (Core): ~360 seats
  • CSE with AI & ML specialization: ~60 seats
  • CSE with Data Science: ~60 seats
  • CSE with Cybersecurity: ~60 seats
  • IT (Information Technology): ~120 seats
  • Total CS family: ~660-720 seats across all programs

Seat breakdown by quota:

  • Management quota: ~25-30% of seats (approximately 160-180 seats reserved for management-nominated admissions).
  • NRI/Foreign quota: ~5% of seats.
  • Merit quota (through KIITEE or JEE score): Remaining ~65-70%.

What this means practically:

  • KIIT is one of the largest private BTech CS programs in India by volume — higher competition for placements internally.
  • Placement rate: ~80-85% (2024). Average package: ?5-6.5 LPA overall. Top packages: ?30-50 LPA (Microsoft, Google).
  • Fees: ~?3.97 lakhs/year (2024). Total 4-year cost: ~?16-18L including hostel.

For admission: KIITEE score or JEE Main score both accepted. Check kiit.ac.in/admissions for current year cutoffs.

B.Tech Biotechnology, Manipal University (2018)

One of my friends is an alumnus from KIIT and he was able to provide some information regarding this.

Earlier there used to be only one CSE branch with around 600+ seats. Currently, the following branches are in the CSE discipline.

  • Computer Science & Engineering - 494 seats
  • Computer Science & System Engineering - 216 seats
  • Computer Science & Communication Engineering - 216 seats
  • Information Technology - 494 seats

In total there are around 1400 seats in CSE and the required cutoff for this discipline is around 5044 but for the first branch of CSE, the required cutoff is around 3600.
