What percentile do I need for IIM Kozhikode/Shillong with 78%, 87% and 6.82 CGPA (UG)?

SP
Shivam Pandey Posted On : November 11th, 2022
M.B.A. from Indian Institute of Management Shillong (Gradyared

78% won’t be enough to get you into IIM Shillong. You need at least 80% in your 10 and 12 grades. So we can say that for the final selection you must have 98 percentile. Other criteria to be considered are:

  • For engineers: Score of above 84 or 85 in 10th and 12th with min 8.0+ in undergraduate

  • For non-engineers: Score of above 80 in 10th and 12th with min 7.5 in undergraduate

This criterion is subject to change every year. Other factors that affect admissions are:

  • Your performance in the interview

  • Gender

  • Undergraduate stream

Both the IIMs will require above 85 to get admission. The eligibility criteria for IIM Kozhikode are a bit more strict than that of IIM Shillong. The minimum overall and sectional cutoff required for admission to IIM Kozhikode will remain 85 percentile and 75 percentile respectively for General category candidates.

How good is finance in IMT Ghaziabad? What are the placement opportunities? How is it compared to PGDM general?

AG
Aditya Ghose Posted On : January 25th, 2023
Bcom(H) from University of Lucknow (Graduated 2019)

IMT Ghaziabad is called the Mecca for Marketing. It’s well known for its specialization in Marketing, Sales, and Business Development based roles. I don't think it offers similar opportunities for finance as well. The placements are pretty good but getting internship offers is difficult for someone who is switching careers from IT to Finance.

So if you really want to pursue a career in Finance after your MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, you can try CFA, and FRM and have some past background in Finance

Which is better IIT Guwahati CSE or IIT Delhi EE or IIT KGP CSE 5yrs?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 5th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

In my opinion, an IIT KGP CSE dual degree is a better option than IIT Guwahati CSE. Here’s why

  • You get an additional degree in just one or two years
  • You don’t have to sit for another entrance exam like GATE
  • Companies that open profiles for BTech also open the same profiles for Dual Degree students.

IIT Guwahati is also a good option for CSE. However, one should opt for IIT Delhi EE only if

You are confident that one will be able to change branch within a year. This is because you will end up studying CS courses with external coaching.

To secure a job, the best options are CSE or MBA. For MBA, your branch does not really matter, only your institute does.

How much of the percentage in boards and marks in JEE (Mains) are required to get admission in IET-DAVV?

SK
Sudhanshu Khare Posted On : April 20th, 2023
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2021

The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) considers both the board exam percentage and the JEE Main score for admission to its undergraduate programs in engineering. However, the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to IET-DAVV may vary from year to year and also depend on the category of the student.

Here are some general guidelines:

  • Board exam percentage: Generally, a student must have a minimum of 60% to 75% marks in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. However, the required percentage may vary depending on the category of the student and the specific branch of engineering they wish to pursue.
  • JEE Main score: Students must also appear for JEE Main and obtain a valid score. Again, the required score may vary depending on the category of the student and the branch of engineering they wish to pursue.

Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission to IET-DAVV. Admission is granted based on merit and the availability of seats in the preferred branch of engineering. It's always a good idea to check the official website of IET-DAVV or contact the admission office for the latest information on eligibility criteria and admission procedures.

I have poor graduation percentage, should I apply for JBIMS?

AM
Aniket Mitra Posted On : February 21st, 2023
Studied Finance at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

Graduation scores do carry a weightage during admissions at JBIMS but a very minor one. They are not the main criteria to focus on. CET is the most important factor that needs full attention. The candidate's profile is rated on various parameters.

Parameters

Weightage

CAT/MH-CET/ CMAT Score

60

PAR (10th, 12th and Bachelor Marks)

15

Extra-curricular/Work Experience

20

Diversity

5

Total

100

The institute also considers past academic records for computation of Application Rating Score(AR). The cutoff for PAR is as follows:

10th: 60% or above

12th: 60% or above

As you can see little or no weightage is given to Graduation scores. So don’t let your low marks dishearten and discourage you. Rather focus on your CAT/CET.

Which one should I prefer: IIIT Bangalore ECE, IIIT Lucknow CSAI or IIIT Gwalior CSE?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : October 10th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

CS and EC are very different branches. You need to decide which branch interests you more.

EC is about electronics and how the different electrical components communicate with one another. It involves a lot of Physics. It only involves a little programming. CS, on the other hand, is all about programming. It mainly uses logic and math.

If you are interested in programming, CSAI from IIIT Lucknow is the better choice. AI/ML is in huge demand in the industry as most things will be automated in the future. Placements and coding culture are top-notch at all these colleges. Students from IIIT Lucknow and IIIT Bangalore perform well in competitions like ACM ICPC.

All these colleges are good. You should make your choice based on your field of interest.

How do I increase my chances of getting into FMS Delhi?

MA
Mohammad Amir Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

If you are goal-oriented and serious about getting into FMS Delhi then all you need to do is score the highest CAT percentile you can. This is because, unlike other B Schools, FMS does not focus on your past mistakes or academics. Rather it focuses more on how ambitious you are now to achieve your goal which is currently to get into FMS. Some tips that will help you achieve a high CAT score and make it into FMS are

  1. Make a tight schedule and adhere to it.
  2. Read as much as you can as RCs play an important role.
  3. Every weekend, revise all that you have studied and take mocks.
  4. Don’t just take mocks for the sake of it. Rather after every mock analysis your mistakes and weaknesses and work on them.
  5. Don’t underestimate the VA section. English is equally important in your CAT exam. So keep practicing English.

Lastly, remember that the mock tests do not reflect your CAT score. I have seen instances where people have scored 70% in mock but 99+ in CAT. So it’s just for practice. Don’t let the mock score demotivate you to give up. The ultimate key is to revise, practice, and have patience.

What is the final composite score needed by a general candidate for admission to IIM Ahmedabad to convert the interview call? Would a score of 70 be sufficient?

VS
Varun Sharma Posted On : December 12th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

IIM Ahmedabad has decided to give little importance to the bachelor's degree components from the shortlisting criteria and to apply it uniformly to all the candidates. The AR now will be computed on a scale of 25 (considering class 10th marks, class 12th marks, and the candidate's work experience) and the points will be pro-rated to 35.

The following formula will now be used for computing the Composite Score (CS):

CS = 0.35* Pro-rated AR Score/35 + 0.65* Normalized overall CAT Score

Pro-rated AR Score= [(AR score computed by taking 0 points for Bachelor’s degree)/25] * 35.

Quantitative Ability (QA)

80

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)

80

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)

80

Overall

80

The final composite score for general category students is 80.

I got 192 in JEE Mains and 96% in CBSE Delhi board. What are my chances for IIIT Delhi?

SK
Sanjana Kapoor Posted On : October 5th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Considering your great JEE Main marks and percentage in the CBSE Delhi board, you have a high chance of making it to IIIT Delhi. A close friend had a similar profile and was able to join IIIT Delhi last year. He claimed his passion for CSE to be the sole reason he chose the institute over better-reputed ones. It's the best college if you are genuinely interested in CS and want to learn. Moreover, it’s a research-oriented institute so if you are a research enthusiast, you will find the best resources and facilities here.

I will suggest you choose IIIT Delhi over NSIT and DTU because it has been developing at a fast pace and will soon rank better than these colleges.
