How is the life of IPM IIM Indore students different from the life of students at IIT or NIT?

RB
Rahul Bisht Posted On : January 9th, 2023
Works at Students

Because there are only 120 students, students will not be able to interact with students from different cultures, as opposed to engineering colleges, where there are 1000-2000 bachelor students, giving them the opportunity to interact with students from different cultures and organize a large number of events, cultural fests, sports events, concerts, and so on, thus enjoying college life. In terms of sports, IIM Indore offers the most options among all IIMs. Because the batch size is small, all students have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the fests and gain hands-on experience.

Cultural diversity is outstanding. If you want, you can learn a lot of languages in 5 years. Such a curriculum is not available anywhere else.

Neha Ghosh Posted On : April 19th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (2020)

Being a part of the more prestigious department of IIT Kanpur, a CS student will definitely have a very happening life.

  • While many departments in IIT Kanpur don't have an entire building to themselves, the CS department spreads across 2 buildings with amazing infrastructure.
  • The majority of the time of CS students is spent in labs working on their assignments
  • The workload of assignments won’t even spare you time to prepare for your exams in advance
  • Your resume will be quite lucrative with many assignments and course projects under your name
  • You will have better relations with your batchmates because of the maximum time spent doing assignments or programming together
  • While others would be using Windows, you will be using Linux all the time.
  • You will have the most learned and experienced pool of faculty always ready to assist you in any possible way. The courses taught are also well structured.
  • It’s not a brainer that CS students get the best offers and packages during placements thus being the most preferred branch.

All in all, the life of a CS student will be nothing short of an adventure!

What is unique about AIIMS Delhi campus, life there, about Pulse and fun one can have there?

VM
Vedant Mishra Posted On : May 30th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

A very unique aspect of AIIMS is the sense of freedom you will experience here.

  • Freedom: Opposite genders can always visit each other's hostel and meet at any time. However, boys are prohibited from going to the girl's hostel after 9 pm. You won’t find this in any other AIIMS.
  • PULSE: It is one of the large-scale events organized by a college in India. This one-week fest witnessed around 30,000 people participating on a daily basis.
  • Frequent trips: Another highlight of AIIMS is the frequent trips that are too without teachers. An annual Shimla trip is one of the most anticipated trips that leave students with millions of memories.

It’s important to note that the list is not exhaustive and there are many more unique aspects of AIIMS.

Are you enjoying your life in IIT Bombay?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 17th, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

Yes, absolutely. Life at IIT Bombay is extremely enjoyable. If you want to enjoy your life at IITB, here are some tips that you may find helpful:

  • Don't listen to others, especially when someone is giving you unnecessary advices. Not each one of the pieces of advice can be beneficial for you, so it's important to do what you want to do and not waste your non-academic time.
  • Don't worry about what others think of you. It's important to ignore people who are not good for you and live your life the way you want to.
  • Focus on building a great set of friends who you enjoy spending time with. Quality is more important than quantity when it comes to friendships.
  • If you don't feel like you need to attend every summit or cultural or sports event, then don’t. Do the things that interest you and bring you joy, rather than being guided by anyone.
  • Develop good study habits and study regularly throughout the week.
  • Take time on the weekends to do things you enjoy, like watching movies, going out, talking to friends and family, or exploring your hobbies and interests.

Remember that it's important to not do things under peer pressure. Stay true to yourself and do what makes you happy, even if it's not what others expect of you. If you do so, you are going to enjoy your life at IIT Bombay to the fullest.

Where is life better, Nirma University or PDPU? Which has better placements?

TG
Tirtha Ghosh Posted On : January 19th, 2022
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Nirma University (2019)

According to the reviews online, here is a comparison between the two colleges Nirma University and PDPU.

  • The campus life is better in PDPU than Nirma, there are a lot of rules and regulations students have to strictly follow.
  • In Nirma a 85% attendance is to be maintained by the students to be able to sit for the examinations.
  • The overall academic pressure is more in PDPU than Nirma.
  • In Nirma, UG students do not get hostels.
  • Placements depend more on your branch than the institution.
  • CS and IT Nirma are much better than PDPU. Petroleum Engineering is the best in PDPU. Maximum students are hired by ONGC from PDPU.
  • Nirma provides much better transportation facilities than PDPU.
Categories Nirma University PDPU
Course Fee INR 7.24 lakh INR 9.73 lakh
Placement Percentage 70% 70%
Highest CTC 12 LPA 10-12 LPA
Average CTC 5 LPA 6 LPA
Recruiting Companies L&T, Bosch, etc. Hindustan Unilever, Nayara Energy, etc.

Lastly, it can be stated that Nirma is slowly deteriorating, on the other hand PDPU is gaining popularity and recognition. So, if you want to pursue Petroleum Engineering go for PDPU, otherwise Nirma will be a better option.

How was the experience at ISB Mohali in general? Did you ever feel like you should have been in Hyderabad instead?

AK
Adarsh Kumar Posted On : January 30th, 2023
MBA from Indian School of Business (2020)

My cousin belonged to the Mohali campus of ISB and during her exchange term, she observed and compared the pros and cons of both campuses. I have listed the major pros of both colleges.

ISB Hyderabad

  • Huge batch size ensures peers from a variety of backgrounds.
  • The location is helpful for the students to maintain a good social life
  • ISB Hyderabad has a wider range of student-driven clubs and committed
  • The placement presentations take place at the Hyderabad campus and Mohali students get to join through a video call only

ISB Mohali

  • ISB Mohali has very few resident faculty as it has been recently established. As a result, the institute calls in the best faculty from colleges like Wharton, UNC, and Kellogg to teach. Their pedagogy is unique and ISB Hyderabad lacks in this aspect.
  • The campus is new so the accommodation facilities are better and made to suit all the necessary requirements. These hostels have better furnishing, space, and housekeeping facilities in comparison to the hostels of ISB Hyderabad.
  • The small batch size ensures the quality over quantity belief
  • The choice of electives is done through online bidding at ISB. Hyderabad campus with its huge batch size makes it impossible for all the students to get their choice of electives. Mohali students, in turn, face no such problem because of the small batch size

ISB maintains a strict balance between both campuses and the placement statistics are a testament to that as no major differences can be observed.

Overall my cousin never regretted choosing Mohali over Hyderabad and recommends the same to everyone.

How is the institute NIT Jalandhar? What are the good and bad things about it?

NT
Nivedha Thomas Posted On : December 2nd, 2022
B.Tech. in Electronics and Engineering, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NITJ) (Graduated 2022)

Every coin has two sides. Similarly the institute NIT Jalandhar has both pros and cons.

Pros-

  • Friendly ambiance. Seniors are there for support. Ragging is strictly prohibited

  • The mess food is usually Punjabi and quite delicious

  • Alot of emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities. There are various clubs like LADS, MADS etc. Various cultural events are also held.

  • The seniors here are literal genius and interactions with them is very beneficial

  • Placement opportunities are pretty good at every branch

  • Proper hygiene facilities and lush green infrastructure add to its ambiance. New lecture halls and departments are under construction.

  • Great exposure through technical and cultural events Techniti and Utkansh

  • New short term courses are launched under GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks )

  • International workshops and conferences that are held frequently help you gain a lot of experience

Cons-

  • The quality of faculty here is below average. They focus more on bookish knowledge than a broader practical approach.

  • Technical events resemble cultural events

  • No assistance is provided for training.

  • Marks matter more than general excellence. Everyone is in a war to secure the highest CGPA.

  • The 75% attendance rule works against the favour of many students.

So we can say that the merits overshadow the demerits to a great extent. In fact every NIT has similar cons which are almost uncontrollable. So just be a great learner and focus on your own betterment.
