How are the hostel rooms in AIIMS Jodhpur and in AIIMS Bhopal?
AIIMS Jodhpur is very popular for its hostels and its hostels are one of the major features which set it apart from other government medical colleges in India. AIIMS Jodhpur has well-built and maintained hostels with all major modern facilities and amenities.
- Hostel rooms at AIIMS Jodhpur are offered on a single or double-sharing basis.
- There are 250 rooms in the boy’s hostel and 125 rooms in the girls' hostel.
- The rooms are clean and well-maintained.
- Each room has an almirah, a study table with drawers, a chair, a small low-height table, a bed with storage, a mattress, and pillows.
- The rooms are spacious and well-painted with a balcony outside each room with a common area on each floor.
- AIIMS Jodhpur Hostels also have a common dining hall, a mess, and a recreational area.
- The hostels have restrictions as well and the wardens are extremely strict.
- The institute doesn’t allow inductions and cooking in the hostel rooms.
- The fees for hostels at AIIMS Jodhpur are very affordable which is around INR 990 for MBBS.
AIIMS Bhopal hostels are also well-maintained and have good infrastructure. The hostel rooms at AIIMS Bhopal have good furniture, with around 3/4th of a wall fitted with wooden furniture. The rooms are equipped with all the amenities such as a bookshelf, table, chair, bed, mattress, drawer, and table. There are no attached washrooms but the common washrooms are also very clean and hygienic.
Does all the AIIMS have the same freedom environment like bringing anyone to their rooms no hostel timings or is it only for the AIIMS Delhi?
In AIIMS Bhopal, the hostel deadline for girls is 10 pm and for boys, there are no timings. Even for the girls, the library is open till 2 AM. There are no strict timings for both the girls and boys and they can stay out after 10 pm also. Many students do that.
From the third year, these timings and rules are even more relaxed. Until the third year, a student can have minor arguments with the warden or the guard but there will be no major issues or problems. For events also, there is no one to watch you. With the help of the student union, no one interferes in the college fests or events. They don’t keep a student under eye for 24*7 and students can be around in the hostel campus these times as late as 4 am also.
These rules are relaxed after the first year as earlier the deadline was off till 9 pm for girls. The rule of boys could not enter girls hostels and vice versa still pertains. The students can visit the PG and intern hostels at any time.
Does all the AIIMS have the same freedom environment like bringing anyone to their rooms, no hostel timings, or is it only for the AIIMS, Delhi?
AIIMS all over India have some of the best hostels, but none can compare with the facilities at AIIMS Delhi hostels. I completed my MBBS from AIIMS Patna, so I’ll inform you a bit about our hostels-
The boys’ hostels do not follow any in-time. This is because the college library is functional 24*7, so the boy students are not bound to hostel timings. Boys can bring their relatives to their hostel room, but they need to mention it in the guards’ register. Girls aren’t allowed in boys’ hostels, and vice versa. The girls’ hostels are comparatively more strict and restrictive.
Having said all this, AIIMS hostels are filled with all the freedom and necessary facilities. Its hostels will be the last reason for you to dislike an AIIMS.
What is the normal mess menu at IIT Kharagpur hostels?
IIT Kharagpur has around 15 hostels and guest houses for both girls and boys. The Hall Management Center has allotted each hostel its own private tender to serve food and thus every hostel has different quality and range of food served.
The first-year students are allotted the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall the menu of which is excellent.
- Breakfast: 7-9 am: Breakfast includes Dosa, Puri, Poha, Paratha, and Idli during weekdays. The other option that is always available is Bread and Jam/Butter. For extras, you can get a Banana, boiled egg, and tea or milk.
- Lunch 12 pm to 1: 30 pm: The students are given a food chart to choose from during weekdays except Sundays when Biryani is served. In the initial period of stay, each student is given the choice of veg and non-veg. On average, 2 days of all-veg is served while the remaining days have options.
- 4pm-6 pm: Panipuri, Dahivada, Momos, and Samosa are the snacks available during weekdays.
- Dinner 7-8:45 pm: Dinner is served on the basis of your choice of veg or non-veg with options of chicken/paneer served twice a week. Tadka dal and sambar are always available.
Apart from the routine mess food, there is also a Nescafe just outside the hall. Each hostel has a night canteen which runs till 3 am to satisfy midnight cravings.
Special dinner takes place twice a semester before the mid sem examination and end sem examination.
Which is the best hostel in IIT Bombay and why?
My brother had the pleasure of staying at hostels 9, 16, and now 13 in chronological order. However, he claimed not one hostel had the complete facilities one expects in a hostel. I have described each hostel in a few pointers
Hostel 9
- Extremely small room difficult for even 2 people to share
- The best food in the entire institute is served in this hostel
- It has many facilities like a pool, a small footer field, basketball court, table tennis and makes your leisure time great
Hostel 16
- This hostel has some of the best rooms in the entire institute. The rooms are double occupancy but can easily be shared by more people.
- If you are lucky enough to be allotted the 6th floor or above, you can get a spectacular view of Hiranandani.
- The food is not very good
Hostel 13
- The room is usually for PG or DD students
- The rooms are single occupancy and are decked with decent facilities
- The food in the Mess is neither too good nor too bad.
- The hostel has a wide range of extracurricular facilities. There is a TV room that can accommodate around 70–80 people.
- This hostel is most coveted because of the spectacular view of the Powai lake and the Hiranandani it offers.
How is hostel life at NIT Surathkal?
Hostel life in NIT Surathkal will be a roller coaster of emotions and will leave a lasting impression on you. It will teach you more about your personality than anything. You become more flexible and responsible.
- The hostel has basic amenities one could ask for from water and power supply to Internet connections.
- The sports complex is located in the center of the campus and has many sports facilities.
- There aren’t many restrictions in timing for boys but girls have strict curfews ranging from 10 to 11 30 based on their year.
- There aren’t any separate DASA hostels.
- The bathrooms are shared and are cleaned at least once a week.
- The staff sweeps your room at least once in 3–4 days.
Overall, you will have an amazing hostel life at NIT Surathkal.
Do you think the NIT Calicut hostel is good?
One of my friends once shared his experiences considering the Hostel of NIT Calicut, whether it is good or bad or anything, but the student must be prepared to incident all kind of things at the time of staying in the hostel.
- There are 4 people in one room, specifically in the first year, second year, and third year. However, it is fine and can be accepted.
- The hostel rooms of NIT Calicut are prepared for 3 accommodations only, that in a room, 3 students can stay; there are 3 beds with proper spacing in the room, 3 cupboards, and charging points.
- My friend told me that the college administration might try to bring all the students very close to each other to increase unity. The reason behind this thinking is that 4 students are staying in one single room, although the accommodation is for 3 students in each room.
You might be given a basic crash course regarding the student's body language. This will help you to understand the language spoken by hostel guards and managers as they were from Kerala and speak in Malayalam. Thus, the students from North India and Andhrapradesh (Telegu) must be ready to face this issue in the hostel.
There is always an electricity problem is a hostel, and a student has to use their own mobile data to perform their academics and assignment. Because no electricity means no internet, no fan, no light, and this is very common in the hostel of NIT Calicut. Students may face 2 nights without electricity.
How is life at Fergusson College Pune staying at the college hostel for a girl graduation?
The hostel accommodation for girls at Fergusson College is decent. The hostel fees are nominal. It is closest to the college. Hostel rooms are fine, but not in great condition. Mess food isn’t too good. There are sometimes water problems.
The hostel rules are strict. Students need to enter the hostel by 8 pm. On Sundays, the end time is 8:30 pm.
What are the facilities available in the hostels of BHU?
BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. Also a national university, BHUs hostel facilities are top notch. The hostels are allotted on the basis of your rank. So if you want a hostel with good facilities, study hard and score good marks.

What are IIT Gandhinagar hostels like?
There are two aspects of a hostel. The first one is the physical building and the rooms, the other being the people and the culture of that place.
The rooms at IIT Gandhinagar hostels are well-ventilated and all the basic amenities like bed, almirah, table, chair and fan are provided. The washrooms are clean and washing machines are available for students’ use. There is a paid laundry service available as well and a canteen facility is provided inside the hostels.
Apart from the infrastructure, the more important part is the amazing people that you will get to meet at IIT Gandhinagar hostels. There will be discussions, birthdays, gaming nights, mafia nights, jamming in the music room and all sorts of fun during your stay over there.
You will have good interaction with your seniors and juniors and create endless memories with your friends. You will live as a part of a community, celebrate festivals with your friends and support each other in tough times.
