First of all, congratulations on making BITS Pilani, and welcome to the plethora of experiences and wonderful life. Here is the list of things that are required for every hosteller of BITS Pilani

1. Don’t forget to bring original mark sheets along with sufficient copies
2. Carry an umbrella and blankets to cope with the weather in BITS
3. Take your medicines and prescriptions
4. A couple of cutlery items like two spoons, a plate, and a cup
5. A laptop, a lamp, a multi-plug power cord, and a power bank to make your studies easier
6. It is better to have a Paytm account, which is acceptable on campus for easy online transactions, and also have some liquid cash with you in case of any emergencies

Other essentials like mattress, buckets, stationary, brooms, shoe rack, LAN cables, etc. is available in the nearby shops

IIT Hyderabad offers a variety of hostel facilities for its students. The hostels are well-maintained and equipped with all necessary facilities such as furniture, internet access, and 24-hour security. 

• Every student is allotted a single room. The rooms are basic and modest. 
• There are no time deadlines for anyone 
• The campus is safe for everyone irrespective of your gender
• The food served is hygienic and tastes decent 
• There are eateries near the camps where you can enjoy delicacies 
• The LAN speed is 100 Mbps 
• Ragging is prohibited

Overall, the hostel facilities at IT Hyderabad are considered to be of high quality and are well-suited to the needs of students.

One of my female friends was allotted Sarojini hostel and she shared her experience that was nothing short of a nightmare. The rooms were very small and congested. She had to share the tiny room with 3 other girls.The lighting was poor making it difficult to study. 

The hostel was located remotely away from all other hostels. Girls are expected to mention their name in the register whenever entering or leaving the hostel. The hygienic conditions of bathrooms are pathetic with rusted doors and insects of all kinds. 

The hostel for the second year students, 'The new Ladies hostel' is, however, better. The rooms are small but neat with clean, white marble tiles. There is a gym as well as a garden. This hostel has long corridors that let in fresh air with huge balconies.

So the first year for girls at NIT Warangal is a nightmare while the second year is better.

I assume you are asking about the culture of IIM Ahmedabad hostels, and not their aesthetics. 

The hostels at IIMA are excellent and filled with all the necessary facilities. They are referred to as dorms and not hostels, and 25-30 students live in each one of them. Dorm mates are very supportive towards each other. 

They wake each other up for classes, help each other in preparing for quizzes, and genuinely care for each other. It feels relaxing to return back to the dorms after tiring classroom hours. Chatting and gossiping with dorm mates is always fun. 

The hostel culture of IIMA is very warm, welcoming and friendly. The time spent over there is truly memorable.

Hostel life at NIT Hamirpur is similar to that of any other college. Since my brother recently passed out from NIT Hamirpur, I have a better idea of this. 

• The students change their hostel rooms after every year so your roommates also change 4 times. 
• The serene surrounding areas make the campus a peaceful place to stay. You will always be in awe of the beauty of the campus. 
• The hostel has rigid restrictions on in-timing. During the initial semester girls and boys are expected to reach the hostel quite early. From the second semester, there are a few relaxations, especially for the boys.
• There are indoor game facilities like table tennis and badminton courts. There is also a pool table in the Neelkanth Boys Hostel for third-year boys. Also, there is a Common TV room where students gather to watch matches together. 
• Students can be seen walking around at night or enjoying the sunrise at OAT.
• Many talented students portray their skills at night performing for everyone. Celebrations like birthdays, festivals, and the World Cup become much better with friends.
• There are enough eateries for both girls and boys. Girls have canteens in their hostels while boys have Nescafe which runs till 2 am. There are many eating spots in and around the campus like Juice bar, Nescafe, Amul, HPMC shop, Ekta, Junction, etc
• Students occasionally plan trips to nearby areas like Shimla, Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala, Treks, and many more.
• The best part of hostel life is indeed the last-minute group studies a day before your exams.

The facilities and rooms do not define the quality of your hostel life but the friends you make there do! 

Freshers at BITS Pilani are usually given 3-4 days to explore the campus after hostel allotment and before classes commence. Here are a few things you should do if you are a fresher here

• Explore the campus instead of staying holed up in your room and meeting new people. You will make friends for life here so don’t hesitate from interacting with everyone around you.
• Initially, you won’t be able to go to the common rooms so instead you can spend time at Red Chillies, Ice and Spice, or the institute cafeteria if you're craving something tasty
• Once the classes begin, make sure to attend the lectures and tutorials.
• You can explore the beauty of Goa during weekends but refrain from involving yourself in alcohol.
• If you are tired of mess food you can order from Domino
• You can also stay in your room and install a DC++ client to browse and download all content on the DC servers.

So, as a fresher, there are several things to do at BITS Pilani Goa campus but personally, I feel you should focus most on socializing and strengthening your network.

For Boys, we are Given Double Rooms with Attached washrooms in the First year and Single rooms will be allotted in 2nd Year.

These Shared rooms are Quite Spacious and Well Furnished too. Each Room has a Balcony

Girls hostel

In AIIMS Bhopal Single Rooms are Provided to Girls in 1st Year itself. Here is what a typical room in a girls' hostel looks like

So first-year girls get single rooms but boys do not.

First-year NIT Patna boys are allotted separate hostels with two/three-seater rooms. The rooms are not very great. There are single seater rooms also, but they are very small in number. There are three hostels for fresher boys- Sone Hostel Block A and B, Kosi Extension near Ganga Ghat, and Ganga Hostel. 

From the second year onwards, you will get a different hostel. There are mainly double-seater rooms in this one. Only 10 out of 500 rooms are four-seater. In this hostel, you will get to meet your seniors. 

The mess food isn’t good. Drinking water, common rooms, and washrooms are good. The premises have space where you can play underarm cricket, badminton and volleyball. In the fresher hostels, you won’t encounter any seniors. I don’t know much about the Girls’ hostel, just the name- Ganga Hostel.

Overall, the boys’ hostels are pretty average at NIT Patna. The senior hostel is comparatively better and new.
