Which one is the best AIIMS or CMC Vellore for an MBBS?
One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision
- Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.
- Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service.
- AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates.
- CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.
- If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital
Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life.
Should I do an online BSc data science and programming course from IIT Madras? Will I get placement after it?
My friend has enrolled himself for B.Sc. Data Science and Programming course from IIT M. He carefully accessed the course curriculum.
According to him, the course requires at least 4 to 6 hours of study each day.
One can not simply study it on the weekends and cope up. My friend has a tight working schedule, and therefore, he is considering leaving this course.
But if you can devote time for the course each day, then this course will definitely benefit you. The placement statistics are not very clear but the curriculum is rigorous and so you will learn new skills that will come handy during job search.
What are statistics of BITS Pilani ME CS placements?
BITS Pilani does not release course-wise placement statistics so the information I have mentioned is not from official resources but from someone who was in the previous batch.
As per him, all ME CS students get placed and around 3 to 4 students with better CGPA are chosen to sit in PS -2. BITS Pilani placement takes place in 2 semesters. In the second placement semester, students get excellent internship offers on the basis of their CGPA. Top recruiters who recruit ME CS students are Qualcomm, Cisco, Mathworks, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Another friend who was in the 2020 batch claimed that almost 100% of the students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 50 LPA, while the average salary package offered was 20 LPA and the minimum salary package offered was 10 LPA. Top recruiter companies are Google, Amazon Sprinklr, Cisco, Samsung, Microsoft, and many others.
Overall, ME CS students need not worry about placements at all.
What is the fee structure of an MBBS at AIIMS Rishikesh?

In addition to the INR 5856 levied over the course of 5.5 years, the students also have to pay a mess fee of INR 10,000 every three months. Also optional is that. We have the option to avoid mess and prepare our own meals.

VIT, SRM, Amity, Amrita, LPU, KIIT and MAHE are all good universities. As a BTech CSE Student at LPU, I can share a personal account. LPU has ranked amongst the Top 50 in the NIRF Engineering Rankings. The B.Tech CSE course is one of the top UG Engineering courses offered by LPU.
The course curriculum is updated and well-structured. It meets the global industrial needs, and is taught by a good faculty. The teaching staff is knowledgeable and guided us well. It competes with top Indian as well as International universities.
Apart from the above mentioned, some of the other points as a student of LPU, why BTech CSE is a good option here, are listed below.
- LPU has tie ups with various universities and organizations. It has really good labs with the updated softwares to provide students with the necessary practical exposure alongside their theory.
- Students also get access to online study material such as research journals, annual reports, and other business dissertations for their projects.
- The placement record and the right mix of curricular and extracurricular activities makes LPU a preferred university. The highest salary package offered often goes up to 40 LPA and above. The previous year placement statistics are also given below.

How do I get into CMC Vellore for an MBBS?
Admission to MBBS at CMC Vellore is solely based on the score obtained by the candidates in NEET UG. CMC Vellore has two quotas for MBBS admission namely Government Quota (50%) and Management Quota (50%).
CMC Vellore MBBS Management Quota
50% of the MBBS seats at CMC Vellore will be filled up by the management based on NEET UG scores under three broad categories:
- Open Category: Any candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply under this category based on merit.
- Minority Network: Eligible Christian students can apply for MBBS under this category.
- CMC Vellore Staff Quota: Children of eligible members of the staff of CMC Vellore can apply under this category.
CMC Vellore MBBS Government Quota
50% of the remaining MBBS seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG scores in the given manner:
- 30% of the seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG as per the government reservation policy.
- 20% of the seats will be for the candidates belonging to the Christian minority from the state strictly by the NEET merit list.
Candidates under both categories have to first register for CMC Vellore MBBS admissions on its official website during the stipulated registration period. Once the NEET Results are announced, the candidates have to sign in to the registration portal and submit their NEET roll number, score, and All India rank.
All the candidates applying for CMC Vellore MBBS have to then mandatorily apply for counseling by the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education. Only those candidates whose names will appear in the seat allotment lists released by the selection committee will be offered admission to MBBS at CMC Vellore.
Are master's degrees from IGNOU acceptable for admission into Ph.D courses in top universities?
Yes, IGNOU is UGC approved, so masters degrees from IGNOU are acceptable for Ph.D. courses in top universities.
But to get admission you will have to meet the other eligibility criteria as well. The university will check your marks, rank, average, and age. As IGNOU is an open university, there is no age bar for learning any degree.
Is MAIT Delhi a good college to study CS? What are the placement stats? How good is the crowd there?
When it comes to MAIT, it may not have the same coding environment as other colleges like MSIT or BVP. However, it is important to note that things are changing at MAIT, and there are opportunities for students to participate in coding competitions, Hackathons, Competitive Programming, Open Source, and more.
- The availability of professors with research backgrounds is limited, and more could be done to expand opportunities for serious project work.
- The course curriculum at MAIT and IPU is outdated and may include subjects that are not directly relevant to CSE students.
- Placements at MAIT are strong, with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and Accenture visiting the campus.
- More than 80% of students get placed, with some students receiving offers as high as 42 LPA from Microsoft.
- It's important to note that many placements listed by others also include off-campus opportunities obtained through individual skills and efforts.
- CS and IT students shouldn't have to worry about the crowd, especially if in the first shift, as the current boys-to-girl ratio in IT are approximately 2:1.

PES University Bangalore's average package for CSE is INR 8 LPA as mentioned in NIRF Engineering Data 2024. The median package for B.Tech saw an increase of 6.67% in 2023 when compared to 2022 (INR 7.50 LPA).
