What is the placement package of Thapar University in CSE?
The university has not released any branch-wise placement statistics on its official website. However, as per the official UG placement data for the batch of 2023, 83% UG students were successfully placed from the campus. The highest CTC stood at Rs. 55.75 LPA, and the average CTC stood at Rs. 11.90 LPA.
The list of top recruiters for CSE department of Thapar University includes JP Morgan, Amazon, American Express, Apple, Deloitte, DE Shaw and Co, Samsung, and many other such brand names.

The placement figures for the CSE branch at Thapar University are good.
Some of the well-known brands that visit the campus for placements include- Amazon, JP Morgan, CISCO, IBM, Flipkart, Microsoft IDC, Tata Motors, Alstom Transport, Royal Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland (R&D), ARM, Walmart Labs, DE Shaw & Co, MU Sigma, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Sandisk Corporation, Informatica Corporation, Make My Trip.com, Zomato, Oracle, Deloitte, among others.

How is CSE at NIT Rourkela?
CSE at NIT Rourkela isn’t a very good option given that its curriculum is outdated and the pedagogy adopted to deliver modern concepts is very obsolete. Most of the foundation courses are taught like Maths which only cover the theoretical aspect of CSE. For the practical perspective involving implementing and developing new things, you will have to resort to self-study.
The faculty is very cooperative and assists you with innovative ideas and guides you in their respective fields. One of my friends and his batchmates set up a cluster to share large computations over a network and received enough guidance from the professors. However, as for the implantation details, they had to go the extra mile and figure out that stuff themselves.
In general, students who are keen to transform their rhetorical knowledge of computers into practical ones have to resort to self-study. So, the opportunities offered at NIT Rourkela CS are plenty if you make the right use of them.
Which is better for CSE? (IIT Roorkee vs BITS Pilani vs IIT BHU vs IIIT Hyderabad)?
All the aforementioned colleges have well-established CSE departments and are good choices for engineering aspirants. However, personally, I feel IITs are always a safe choice given their low fees and big alumni pool.
IITs attract the best minds from across the country and the opportunities provided are much better than other colleges. BITS Pilani, although a great choice can be a problem for those with financial constraints given its high fees. IIIT Hyderabad has it all from excellent academics to top-notch placements but does not have a very happening college life.

How are the ECE placements at Thapar University?
In general, there are very limited core placement opportunities in ECE because of the limited scope in this field especially in India. ECE placements at Thapar University are no different. As a whole, ECE placements here are decent because mostly consultancies and management visits for recruitment. The only issue is that core jobs are very less.
But on the bright side, students of Thapar University can sit for placements in all branches thereby opening more gates of opportunities for them. This makes up for the lack of core jobs.
I asked a friend about the placements scenario of ECE and she shared a few pieces of information
- Around 60-65% of students get placed in the ECE department.
- The highest salary package offered is 30 LPA,
- The lowest salary package is 4 LPA,
- The average salary package is 6 LPA to 7 LPA.
- Top Recruiters are Amazon, WDC Gameskraft, McKinsey, JP Morgan, etc.
- Around 75% of students get internship offers in roles such as SDE, member of technical staff, and quant.
In all, ECE placements at Thapar University are average.
Which college is better for a BTech, DTU or BITS Pilani??
BITS Pilani is a much better option to pursue BTech than DTU. Here are a few aspects I have considered before arriving at this conclusion
- Placements: The best part about BITS Pilani placements is that students of all branches are allowed to sit for all companies. In DTU however, mostly CSE students are allowed followed by ECE, ME, and other branches.
- Batch size: The huge batch size of DTU results in immense competition during placements as companies only hire a fixed number of students from here while there is no such limitation on hiring the number of graduates from BITS.
- Package: Some companies offer different packages to BITS and DTU students. For instance, Goldman Sachs offered INR 32 LPA in BITS but only INR 23 LPA in NITs, DTU, and NSIT.
- Recruiters: All DTU recruiters visit BITS but not vice versa. Top companies like Apple, and Cisco only visit BITS.
- Internship: BITS provides an internship for 6 months while DRU provides an internship for 2 months only so the exposure and experience gained are limited.
- Hostel: BITS Pilani has excellent accommodation facilities whereas DTU has no accommodation facilities for Delhi residents.
- Entrepreneurship: BITS has a better startup culture than DTU.
- Freedom: The zero attendance policy at BITS is what attracts the majority of students here as they are instilled with a sense of freedom in their academic routine.
Considering the above factors it’s safe to say that BITS Pilani is a more lucrative option than DTU for BTech.
Does IISC Bangalore offer a BTech degree?
Yes, IISC Bangalore offers B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing. IISC Bangalore started the course in the August 2022 admissions cycle.
B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing at IISC Bangalore offers expertise in the fields of research, development, and innovation in futuristic disciplines and next-gen. technologies. The students will acquire in-depth knowledge of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science.
The total intake of the course is 52. The breakdown for the same is- 40 + 8 (20% supernumerary seat for female) + 4 (10% Foreign nationals/OCI)
How good is Jadavpur University for engineering?
I have a bunch of school friends who are studying at Jadavpur University. According to their experience, it is definitely good for engineering for the following amazing reasons:
- Faculty plays an important role while determining the quality of an institution. Fortunately, JU has a pretty great faculty who are supportive and experienced.
- The laboratory facilities are quite good for all branches.
- You can grab pretty good placement opportunities as well as good research facilities. It is a place where even your undergraduate projects or help in research are appreciated.
- You can even apply for the student exchange program through the Erasmus Mundus program.
- Jadavpur University is one of the eight colleges in India that can participate in the Hult prize organized by Bill Clinton.
At the end of the day, studying engineering at Jadavpur University will be worth it. You can enjoy good placements, foreign exposure, good campus culture, quality education, etc.
How good or bad is CSE in NIT Patna?
NIT Patna is a decent choice for your CSE. The faculty isn’t top-notch and won’t really go out of their way to guide and support you. The curriculum is as challenging as any other Engineering institute.
The placements are witnessing an increase year on year. During 2021 placements, the highest package of 44 LPA was offered to a single student from B.Tech CSE by Adobe. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Samsung, and Amazon visit the campus for IT recruitment. IBM also recruits candidates from CSE. The average CTC during 2020 placements stood at INR 8.93 LPA for the CSE department.
The campus life at NIT Patna isn’t really great and the infrastructure is also not the best. Patna, however, offers coaching facilities for CAT/ IES/ GATE aspirants. Also, the new Bihta campus of NIT Patna is expected to come into existence soon.
Overall, NIT Patna CSE is a decent choice. You will be responsible for enhancing and polishing your skills through online platforms.
How is ECE in IIIT Hyderabad?
The ECE program at IIIT Hyderabad is more focused on IT than Electronics because IIIT Hyderabad itself is an IT institute. Other colleges have a lot of non-IT courses in the first year of their ECE program whereas IIIT Hyderabad ECE has no such courses in the firsts year
ECE stands for many things in different places. ECE in IIIT is Electronics and communication engineering. However, unlike Electronics in other institutes. IIIT Hyderabad ECE program does not include courses such as electrical machines, electric drives, power systems, power electronics, and related labs and workshops.
The students of both ECE and CSE at IIIT Hyderabad are taught common courses sin the first year after which students can take CS courses as electives. Some of these include Statistical Methods in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Neural and Networks (ANN).
IIIT Hyderabad does not have official CS and ECE departments enabling students from any stream to join any research center irrespective of the program they are enrolled in.
