What is the admission process for Bachelor of Fashion Technology [B.F.Tech] NIFT Hyderabad?

A
Anonymous Posted On : December 2nd, 2024

I didnt apply to any other college. It was NIFT or nothing else for me. Initially, we submit our application for the course we want. Then there is GAT exam, general ability test which is a combination of maths, english, General knowledge, case studies. There will be selection from this exam for the interview and campus selection. The interview part was not there for me, because of COVID. So there was narrowed selection from the exam itself. Hyderabad has proven to be a great college for fashion Technology students with good placements and great faculties. For the exam, focus on all the factors, buy books, attend coaching if required, do mocks and u will definitely ace it. NIFT is the epitome of best fashion college so to get in here to achieve your fashion career dream is the ideal dream. The cutoffs are generally lenient. However, since more and more students are applying ever year it has gotten tough to get in. Reservation seats and NRI seats are all there for students. Overall admission experience was tad bit stressful but really fun and exciting at the same time

What is the fees for Bachelor of Fashion Technology [B.F.Tech] in NIFT Hyderabad?

A
Anonymous Posted On : December 2nd, 2024

The tuition fees will be taken sem wise which is around 170,000. There is one other category that is NRI, for which u will have to pay around 10 lakhs per year. This option is often taken if you didnt get your choice of campus for general or reservational categories. For hostel, it is 42000 per year which is reasonable however additional 3000 per month has to be paid for mess fees. Stationery will cost you around 3-5K per month depending on your course, it is lesser for technology students though. Every other fee such as library and exam fee is added onto the tution fee so there is no extra payment required later unless you have a follow-up on any subject. Scholarship are provided for financially challenged students which requires a set of documents to be submitted along with interview. Design course and Technology course has the same fee, no difference. Overall with my family background, it was a challenging at times when the fees went upto 2 lakhs per sem but otherwise it was affordable

How is the course curriculum of Bachelor of Fashion Technology [B.F.Tech] (Apparel Production) in NIFT Hyderabad?

A
Anonymous Posted On : December 2nd, 2024

The best part about the curriculum is multiple internships. Starting out after the second year, we have our textile internship. It spans over two weeks and we are supposed to submit a report and presentation regarding its working and the process flow. After our third year, an apparel internship of 2 months is to be carried out. This is a great experience to truly understand where and how to work in the industry. The last semester is entirely one internship for which different companies such as aditya birla, landmark, decathlon offers and comes to campus for placements. This might be one of the most important parts of the syllabus as it can help shape our entire career. Juries are taken for all these internships which again helps us in remembering everything important regarding the working of the fashion industry. Since our syllabus is regarding apparel production, it is majorly focused on this. This provides us great insight of the working of a textile and apparel factory and about the brands that we shop from. Another part of our syllabus is the inter disciplinary minor where we can learn subjects from other departments from semester 3. Then we have Deepening Specialisation from 3 different options, Production, Technology and Management. This allows us deeper analysis about the core of our subject.

In the last semester placement offers come up l. The placements aren't extremely great and only a few get very good packages but the average package is not bad. You can also get a very good placement from your internship and continue working there itself.

What is the admission process for Bachelor of Design [B.Des] NIFT Chennai?

My main focus was to get into NIFT. But to keep options, in case I wasn't able to clear NIFT, I had applied for IIAD and UID as well. I am in a general category so I didn't get any quota. To appear for B.des in NIFT, you must pass STD Xll, any stream. The maximum age to apply for this programme is 23. The entrance exam is taken in 3 parts; One day, you'll have CAT (Creative Aptitude Test) and GAT (General Aptitude Test). In CAT there are questions to judge your creativity, you'll have the drawing part here. This paper will be for 3 hours. In GAT you'll have basic Maths, Reasoning, English and General Knowledge. This paper will be for 2 hours. Once you get shortlisted, you'll have to appear in the situation test. You'll get materials here, and you'll have to make a 3D model according to the question, and a write up explaining it. Once you get the final result, you'll get your rank and then will appear for counselling where you can choose the course and campus according to the availability of seats.

NIFT is expensive considering it's a government college. But studying design is probably even more expensive if you go to private colleges. Apart from that, you'll have to spend a lot on stationary throughout the course. NIFT provides different scholarship schemes. You can apply for it if you are eligible and you can get even up to 100% scholarship for the particular year that you applied for.

The curriculum is fine, recently they are trying to incorporate new things related to AI and have been trying to teach things happening in the current industries. The assignments that are given are pretty nice and you have a valid amount of time to ideate and create them. The difficulty is high but it also makes you think and create better creatives so it's a win win

How are the placements for Bachelor of Design [B.Des] (Knitwear Design) at NIFT Chennai?

NIFT has centralised campus placement. We can sit for placement in our last year of college. NIFT placement percentage drastically reduced recently, but what you get completely depends on your quality of work. We'll probably get many options since NIFT is a prestigious institute, a large number of companies come there for recruitment. I don't have any plans yet, I'll probably get a job first and then think of how I want to go further.

I was interested in fashion design, but I wasn't getting it in the top 5 centres so I shifted to knitwear Design, both being similar courses. In college, we have one mentor for every 4-5 students. Not all faculties are great but some of them are really nice. And if you have any doubt or confusion, all of them are always ready to help you out. For the first two parts, we have to do the only submission of the given assignments. For the end term, we have a jury where teachers review and roast our work so get real life experience for when we work in the industry. There are too many submissions and mostly you'll get less time to sleep when the jury nears, but at the end of the day, it's worth it.
