AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 11th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

I know only 3 people choose had the guts to choose an unconventional career after graduating from IIT. There are three people I would like to talk about here. The careers these bold people chose are equally unique

  • Movies: Arunabh Kumar from IIT Kharagpur was a research consultant at the US Air Force but left his high-paying job to join Shahrukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment to pursue his career as a director. After making several short films he became the Assistant Director of Om Shanti Om. He has his hands on Advertisement, Films, Music Record Labels, and Corporate Communications. He has even directed several music videos for TImes Music and written a script for Eros. Currently, he has his own Creative Labs known as The Viral Fever Media Labs.
  • Photography: Devendra Purbiya from IIT Kharagpur worked at an IT firm and soon realized his interest in Photography. Today, he is a full-time photographer and was even responsible for photographing the Kingfisher Calendar Launch. His achievements include covering the Chennai, Bangalore, and Lakme Fashion Weeks as well as the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. His works have been published in many popular magazines.
  • Comedy: Nitin Gupta, a student of IIT Bombay took the bold decision to pursue his career as a full-time Stand-up Comedian and today he is the CEO of Entertainment Engineers. His company has performed more than 50 Concerts in IITs, IIMs, TED Talks, and Fortune 500 Companies.

The one common aspect of all these IIT alumni is their boldness to switch careers and passion in fields other than IT. They are a symbol of pride that motivates many IITains to choose their career based on their passion and not just become an IITian for the sake of it.

How is NMIMS MPSTME MBA Tech course?

BB
Bhumika Bose Posted On : January 25th, 2022
MBA(Tech.) Civil Engineering & Operations Management, SVKM's NMIMS (2017)

If you are considering NMIMS MPSTME for doing an MBA Tech course, here are some things that you should know.

  • The course is good but it can’t be compared to the core MBA offered by NMIMS. Don’t join the institute just because of the brand name NMIMS.
  • The institute has a strict 80% attendance rule.
  • The living cost is quite high, especially if you are coming from Mumbai. You should consider it while calculating the course fee and the ROI.
  • It doesn’t have a campus.

Below are some of the pros of the MBA Tech course.

  • Join the course if you want to learn about Management.
  • Choose the Mumbai campus, because of the exposure that you will get. There are some great student chapters like ACM, PMI, CSI, MUN, etc. The student council also organizes great events and great lectures.
  • One of the biggest advantages of choosing this course is that you will get 50 marks in internal evaluation. So, passing the subjects is easier.
  • Some of the management faculties are quite good.
  • The curriculum contains two internships i.e. technical and management. You will get to learn a lot through these internships. You will save one year and gain 6 months of experience.

NMIMS MPSTEM placement scenario is average. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC offered to the students is 7.95 LPA.

What is a detailed plan to crack the MH-CET, so as to get into JBIMS?

NM
Nishank Mantri Posted On : August 17th, 2020
MMS from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (2019)

The estimated required MH CET cutoff for 2020 is 97.37. Usually, if a student scores 153 out of 200 in MH CET they secure 99 percentile in the exam however for securing 100 percentile you have to score close to 163-165. To get a good score in MH-CET for taking admission into JBIMS you should follow the following instructions.

  • Knowing about the exam and syllabus:You should be aware of the important dates, syllabus, and exam pattern. Find out the previous year’s cut-offs for JBIMS and prepare with a goal for the same.
  • Plan and create a strategy:In MH CET, the student needs to answer 200 questions within 150 questions. Managing time is essential for scoring well in this examination. There are 4 main sections for the exam namely; verbal ability (50), logical reasoning (75), quantitative aptitude (50), and abstract reasoning (25). Plan your strength and weakness in each section and prepare accordingly ideally you should start preparing at least 4 to 5 months before the date of the examination.
  • Solve Mock tests:Solve as many mock tests as you can that will help you to get familiar with the pattern of question. Solving mock tests also helps in managing time during test.

How's the IIIT Sri City, Chittoor?

AR
Anubhav Reddy Posted On : March 24th, 2022
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City (2020)

In terms of academics, infrastructure, and placements, IIIT Sri City is average at best.

  • It doesn’t offer proper facilities to the students. The library does not have a good collection of books, there’s no proper working space as well.
  • There are no HTL CSS or Python classes. C-programming is taught by non-professionals. Often irrelevant projects are assigned to students.
  • IIIT Sri City fees are pretty steep. A B.Tech degree from the institute costs around INR 10.74 lakhs.

If you want good facilities and academics don’t choose IIIT Sri City.

How can I get a degree certificate from Pune University if not collected at convocation?

AS
Aditya Shinde Posted On : March 15th, 2023
Studied at Savitribai Phule Pune University

If you haven't collected your degree certificate from Pune University during convocation, the university will send it to your respective college. However, if you haven't received it yet, you must take the initiative to inquire with the convocation department to obtain your certificate.

When applying for a degree certificate during convocation, the best option is to apply for it by post. This way, the university will courier the certificate to the address specified in your application. This ensures that you receive the certificate without any hassle and saves you the trouble of going to the university to collect it in person.

Some more details about the University are

  • Infrastructure: The college has decent infrastructural facilities with great importance to sports and extracurricular activities
  • Academics: Honestly, this is where the Institute lacks. The staff delivers robotic knowledge without any lively classroom discussions making the learning experience monotonous.
  • Placements: The placement cell of the college works pretty hard to maintain a decent placement scenario and students with good academic performance usually get good packages.
  • ROI: Another aspect I feel one should consider is the ROI which is low in case of SRM. The fees are extremely high in comparison to the academic standards but the surety of placements makes people choose it anyway.
  • Campus Life: You get to experience amazing college life with lots of creative activities and new things to learn.

Ultimately it’s you who decides whether a certain college is right for you or not, so do your part of the research and make a wise decision.
