SB
Shivam Behera Posted On : June 17th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (2020)

IIT Indoe mess food is average quality wise though the quantity and variety offered are good. The Bhopal Caterer provides food to IIT Indore students. There is a Mess secretary or mess committee that decides the menu for every month. A Food Fiesta is organized by the mess committee once a month wherein special delicacies are served. A few students are appointed to the mess committee on the basis of interviews. This committee looks at every issue related to mess food. A typical menu on any day at IIT Indore mess looks like this

  • Breakfast: Methi thepla, Aloo Sabji and Boiled egg.
  • Lunch: Jeera rice, Rajma, Toor Dal, Veg Achari Baingan, Nimbu Pani Fruit
  • High-Tea: Chole Kulche and chutney
  • Dinner: Fried Rice, Masoor Dal, Choke ki Sabzi, Aloo Ghobi Puri, Kheer, Veg curry

Both veg and non veg are served here and the quality is decent.

How are the hostel facilities at anna university Guindy campus for boys?

SA
Sarthak Arora Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Studied at College of Engineering Guindy, Tamil Nadu, India

There are almost ten hostels or more for CEG boys. You will undoubtedly enjoy the hostel life there, despite the facilities not being as good as those at private colleges.

The cost of the hostel, including meals, will be about INR 22,000 per semester. The rules at the hostel are not too strict. You may roam until 10.30 p.m. Any electronic device is acceptable.

Every hostel will have a TV room. If you enjoy cricket, watching a game with your hostel mates in a lively atmosphere reminiscent of a cricket field would be an amazing experience. There will be wifi in every hostel.

Without hostels, college life would be dull. Join the hostel without thinking twice.

Hostel features:

  • In the first year, 4 people per room plus a shared toilet and bathroom. However, the hostel block will differ between the second and third years.

  • In the fourth year, there will be one person per room or possibly two, depending on the block you choose.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a PGP through IIM Kozhikode?

SL
Salman Liyakath Posted On : November 11th, 2022
PGDM In Finance and Strategy from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (Graduated 2018)

Some major advantages and disadvantages of a PGP through IIM Kozhikode are:

Advantages

  • IIM Tag: IIM Kozhikode is the 5th best IIM. So the IIM title is enough for you to find a launch or start your own business.

  • Faculty: IIM Kozhikode has the most experienced faculty.

  • Peers: You will find people from diverse backgrounds and will stay highly motivated

  • Campus: The infrastructure of IIM Kozhikode is more like a resort than that of a B School

  • Campus Life is less stressful and you can enjoy your college days.

Disadvantage: Despite being the food capital of the state, Kozhikode has little to offer. The vegetarian options are also scanty.

These advantages and disadvantages might seem different from anyone else’s perspective.

Which is the better branch between mechanical engineering and chemical engineering in MNNIT Allahabad?

SA
Shibu Ahuja Posted On : November 28th, 2023
Studied at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad

I am a student of B.Tech Chemical at MNNIT Allahabad. Here is some information to help you arrive at a conclusion-

  • Placements- Chemical has better placements. Its batch strength is almost one third that of Mechanical. Moreover, a good number of companies visit the Chemical department with job offers. The average package for Chemical and Mechanical is 10 LPA and 7 LPA respectively. In recent years, the Chemical department has attained 100% placements, while Mechanical receives around 80% placements.
  • ESE- For Engineering Services (IES), you’ll have to choose Mechanical Engineering as Chemical students can not give ESE.
  • GATE- Both Chemical and Mechanical are equally good for public sector jobs/ M.Tech/ Phd. The competition is much higher in Mechanical, but the number of vacancies in PSUs through GATE is also higher for it.

The GATE syllabus for Chemical is comparatively smaller.

  • ISRO/ BARC/ DRDO- Both the branches carry equal opportunities in these areas.
  • PSU through campus- Branch toppers are selected by PSUs for placements. The selections are made on resume based shortlisting, GD and interview. Companies like BPCL, GAIL and IOCL visit the campus for recruitments. Sometimes GAIL does not allow Mechanical students to sit for placements. Thus, Chemical students have better chances of placement in PSUs. The smaller batch strength of Chemical is a big aid in placements.

Both the branches are good in their own way. You should select the one that suits your goals and future plans.

Is there anybody who took a drop for CAT and got selected in IIMs?

AJ
Ankit Jhawar Posted On : November 23rd, 2022
MBA in Management, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (Graduated 2017)

Yes, there are many people who took a drop for CAT and got selected in IIMs. At this stage, your interview matters the most. So read well and prepare the best to answer ‘what were you doing in the meantime’.

Answer this question confidently because here they are not exposing your weakness but testing your confidence in yourself. Just say that I was preparing to be here for the interview. Further you can claim that all the other candidates who have taken CAT are still at a level same as yours in the interview round. So rather than experience it’s one eagerness and ambitions that counts.

All you need to do is impress the interviewer and you are good to go.

Why does IIT Gandhinagar have a lower average package as compared to other IITs?

AS
Anisha Srivastav Posted On : July 27th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IITGN)

Before I tell you the exact reason you need to understand that the highest packages every year for BTech at any IIT come from the Computer Science batch. Now the question is why isn’t the situation similar for IIT Gandhinagar? Well, IIT Gandhinagar did not have a B.Tech. CSE course until 2016. As a result, the average package was calculated on the basis of the packages of students in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, and Material Science Engineering.

Now, the first CSE batch of IIT Gandhinagar graduates in 2020, and despite the ongoing pandemic, the average package of the institute as a whole rose from 8 LPA to 12 LPA. This in itself speaks highly of the placement scenario here which is at par with other new IITs like IIT Bhubaneswar or IIT Patna.

Moreover, IIT Gandhinagar has higher packages for almost every branch, be it Chemical, Material Science, or Civil Engineering. So judging the institute solely on the basis of average OKC gates is not justified. IIT Gandhinagar has a leader approach and packages aren’t the only concerns of the students here who are more protected towards research.

How was the placement scenario for the first Mtech batch of IIIT Bangalore?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : October 7th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

One of my friends was a part of the first IMTech batch of IIIT Bangalore. As per the information I provided from him, the placement scenario at IIIT Bangalore initially was very poor mainly because the first batch of iMtech students neither had prior interview exposure nor any work experience. However, with the guidance of excellent faculty, this situation

The situation improved for the better and almost 90% of the first batch got internship offers from top-notch companies. In fact, many students have already been offered PPOs during placements.

The campus was visited by many IT giants and funded start-ups that preferred Mtech students specifically. The excellent placement scenario can further be gauged by the fact that a few students had also received extended overseas internships and full-time offers as freshers.

So, the placements for the first batch at IIIT Bangalore were at par with IITs and NITs.

Which is better, NIT Silchar or NIT Raipur?

SK
Sanjana Kapoor Posted On : August 24th, 2023
Lived in Jaipur

In my opinion, NIT Silchar is way better than NIT Raipur. Earlier, the institute faced connectivity issues and therefore wasn't a much preferable choice but the recent developments have solved the issue. NIT Silchar spreads across a whooping 624 acres and has a rich collection of flora and fauna. The institute is known for its numerous lakes, top-notch infrastructure, and excellent net connectivity.

The faculty pool is a mixed bag with both good and bad professors. The seniors are people you can look to and seek help anytime. The research culture is slowly improving although NNITs in general don't have much reputation in research. NIT Silchar has the biggest digital library.

Coming to The placement scenario, it's very promising, especially for the CSE and ECE branches. NIT Silchar placements 2022 recorded 94+ recruiters and offers from Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Arcesium, Intuit, etc. Students received 537 offers in all and the highest salary recorded was INR 44 LPA which was offered by Amazon. The average package stood at INR 13.58 LPA.

I don't mean to undermine NIT Raipur in fact its Metallurgy branch is one of the best. But as a whole, NIT Silchar seems to be a more favorable option for you.
