What is the reality behind the 1.5 crore package grabbed by IIT Roorkee student?

AG
Ashish Gupta Posted On : April 11th, 2023
Lives in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India

I am the right person to answer this question as my sister was a batchmate of the student who grabbed a 1.5 crore package offered by Microsoft Redmond. This package was offered to CSE and ECE students.

Microsoft was recruiting based on 2 profiles: Microsoft (Software) India and Microsoft Redmond USA

For Microsoft India, CTC offered was 39 Lakhs and the in-hand salary was 1 lakh per month which is similar to other IT companies.

For Microsoft Redmond, the CTC was 1.5 crore while the in hand was around 45 Lakhs.

Keeping in mind the PPP of USA vs India, the approximate value is 15 LPA. Do you think this is an extraordinary package, considering all the factors I have mentioned? Many companies visiting the campus even offer packages ranging between 20-25 LPA. In fact, an Indian company AppDynamics had offered a package of Rs.45 lakhs with 30 lakhs in hand. Many such offers by Indian companies are better than US companies. It’s just that the international offers are extremely hyped and not many go into details of the monetary value.

procedure to get transcripts from Mumbai University (MU):

  • Online application: visit mu.ac.in ? examination ? transcripts/certified marksheets
  • Documents required: application form, original marksheets of all semesters, enrollment/PRN number, ID proof, passport photos
  • Fee: Rs.500-1,500 per copy depending on course and urgency. pay online or by DD
  • Processing time: regular 15-30 working days; tatkal/urgent 7 days with higher fee

for foreign university applications (US, Canada, UK etc.) that need WES or similar verification, MU directly sends transcripts to WES on request — apply through MU's official WES process (separate application). this is critical for immigration/study abroad. allow 6-8 weeks for this process. check mu.ac.in for current procedures as MU has been digitizing many services.

How is IIT Ropar?

DK
Devashish Khanna Posted On : August 2nd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2020)

I am a student at IIT Ropar and thus I am qualified to answer this question-

  • Location- Ropar is just an hour’s drive from Chandigarh. It is well-connected to major cities like Jalandhar, Shimla, Delhi, and Chandigarh. The Tricity area is

quite developed and Mohali has its international airport. Ropar itself is a very calm and peaceful city. The campus is located at the foothills of Shivalik on the banks of the Sutlej River.

  • Academics- The academics at IIT Ropar is at par with the old IITs, but it has been designed by experts to lay greater emphasis on practical learning and labs than the old IITs. One of the major highlights of the IIT Ropar curriculum is the provision of allowing Minors, Honors or Concentration alongside the main B.Tech degree. This provision is not present in the old IITs. An example is that you can do a B.Tech in Mechanical with a Minor in CS.
  • Faculty- The faculty at IIT Ropar is well qualified and the selection procedure is at par with the old IITs. The professors are alums of IITs and other institutions in the US. The teacher-student ratio is 1:10, which is quite good. IIT Ropar organizes workshops, guest lectures by experienced professors from prestigious institutions.

In terms of research citations, IIT Ropar ranks higher than most IITs, including the old ones.

  • Placements- For 2023 B.Tech placements, the highest package stood at INR 55 LPA for CSE, 55 LPA for Electrical, and 42 LPA for Mechanical. Core companies visit less for placements in comparison to non core companies. Google, Amazon and Ericsson were the top recruiters for the 2023 B.Tech placements.
  • Campus and Student Life- IIT Ropar now has its own permanent campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Lecture Halls, Hostels (both boys and girls), Dining Hall, Utility Block, and Sports fields are all newly built. The campus is beautiful and spread across 500 acres. Student life is eventful and there are numerous clubs and societies through which you can enhance your personality.

I chose IIT Ropar Electrical branch over mediocre branches at old IITs and CSE at newer ones. I am quite happy with my decision and do not regret it in the least.

What are the disadvantages of NIT Trichy?

KS
Kalyani Shrivastava Posted On : July 24th, 2023
NIT Trichy

The disadvantages faced by NIT Trichy students because of its remote location and hot climate are known to many so I will talk about issues no one has yet commented on.

  • North Indians face major language barriers here, especially with shopkeepers, teachers, and peers. They are least interested in learning the language of the locals.
  • NIT Trichy does not offer any effective treatment for the street dogs that roam inside the campus. You can find dogs everywhere like hostels, canteens, and messes. They should either be sent to the forest authority or should be treated fairly. Many times I have seen dogs die because of malnutrition.
  • Students hailing from Telangana face major ragging issues.
  • NIT Trichy has no amusement places nearby where you can hang out with friends.

I hope the administration takes measures against these issues.

How is NIT Rourkela?

SV
Sudeeksha Verma Posted On : August 9th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2020)

The standard of education and the institute's credibility can alone be determined by going through the rankings. So, I will be stating some highlights pertaining to the campus life at BIT Mesra, in general,

  • BIT Mesra has an active club culture with more than 60 clubs promoting a number of extracurricular activities
  • NIT Rourkela has the 2nd largest campus in India and is a great place to be at.
  • The hostel life is also great with minimal restrictions at least for boys.
  • The mess is in close proximity to the hostel and the level of hygiene is commendable here. The mess follows a 4-meal per day system wherein Breakfast is served in the morning at around 7 -9.30 am, lunch at 12–1:30 pm, snacks at 5–6 pm, and finally dinner at 8–9:30 pm.
  • Many night canteens run till 3 in the morning to cater to the midnight cravings of the students.
  • The institute is a heaven for sports lovers. It has facilities for almost every kind of sport like football, cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball, and kabaddi.
  • The internet connection facilities are however poor and this matter needs to be taken care of.

You will be surprised to know that my friends in other NITs keep complaining about the campus life there while I was very satisfied with the quality of campus life offered at NIT Rourkela. So, in addition to academics, NIT Rourkela also offers a vibrant college life!

Other than some of the medical courses, the other programs offered by NIMS University Jaipur aren’t good. The quality of education isn’t good. Proper lectures aren’t scheduled regularly. The faculties usually focus on completing the syllabus fast. The teaching approach is outdated. There is less focus on practicals.

When do we get original degree from Delhi university??

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 18th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Delhi University is a highly prestigious institute offering premium education to its students. Every student completing his or her studies from here is awarded a degree certificate. This certificate is issued by the university and is an official recognition of the student’s educational qualification.

However, it's crucial that a student procures his/her original degree certificate from the university as it plays a big role in the admission process of higher studies as well as jobs and other opportunities.

The availability of this degree depends on the course and the duration of the course.UG students usually receive their original degree certificate within 3 months of the completion of the course.

You can check the same by going to SOL and ask someone from their administration department. Sometimes it may take a year or more to get the original degree from Delhi University.

I am a student of B.Tech CSE at Hindustan University, pursuing a specialization in IBM cloud computing and virtualization.

The CSE department is quite good. All its professors are friendly and supportive. The university focuses a lot on extracurriculars, even more than the academics. A number of workshops and events are regularly organized on campus.

If you abide by the rules and regulations, you won’t face any trouble from the authorities. You will be offered a nurturing environment and ample growth opportunities.

Hindustan University is a good choice for a CSE, given that you participate in events and make use of all the opportunities.
