Is IIT, Kharagpur the same as MIT or Harvard?

AR

None of the IITs now compete with international institutions. IIT Kharagpur is a great option only if your future plans include moving to India. IITs are not as valuable as premier institutions in the US, UK, France, and Switzerland globally. There are various reasons for Harvard to stay in the upper hand that Indian institutions, they are as follows:

  • Academic excellence: IIT Kharagpur is not ranked as one of the top engineering institutions in the world in terms of reputation or ranking. However, when looking at all elite colleges worldwide, Harvard University came in second place, which proves its academic excellence, faculty base as well and infrastructural abilities.
  • World-Class Faculty: Some of the top business professors in the world teach at these institutions. Harvard professors are not only leaders in their disciplines but also frequently carry out ground-breaking research that advances our understanding of business.
  • Scholarship and financial aid: Scholarships and financial assistance are available for deserving students, despite the fact that Harvard's tuition is more than that of IIT Kharagpur. Even the costs for lodging are included.
  • Strong Alumni Base: Harvard University has an extensive and powerful global alumni network. This network might offer beneficial contacts and chances for professional success. Rahul Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, and Rajat Gupta, a former managing director of McKinsey & Company, are notable Indian graduates of Harvard Business School.
  • Access to Silicon Valley (Stanford) or Boston (Harvard): Stanford is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, while Harvard is close to the flourishing economic center of Boston. Both universities provide access to Silicon Valley or Boston. It is simpler to investigate starting your own business, participate in internships, and network because of this proximity to existing businesses, venture capital firms, and tech startups.
  • Placement statistics: The average package offered by Harvard Business School is 150,000 USD per year, according to placement statistics of 2022.

So, in conclusion, selecting Harvard over IIT Kharagpur offers global recognition, a diverse learning environment, and access to a broad range of fields. However, financial costs and cultural adjustments are important factors to consider. Ultimately, the decision hinges on individual goals and priorities, weighing Harvard's prestige against personal circumstances.

Should I go for MS from Bits pilani?

SD
Shruti Dasgupta Posted On : June 28th, 2023
Student at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

Whether you should go for MS from BITS Pilani or not depends on your individual goals and purposes.

If you are pursuing MS simply to broaden your knowledge base, then this program is a good option. Although there are many MOOCs available for free, like Coursera, Udacity, and EdX. But if you want to pursue a formal degree because of lack of discipline then this program will serve you best.

However, if you are pursuing this program to enhance your job prospects and opportunities then I am against you joining it. Job opportunities depend a lot more on your network than academics, while job prospects depend on your skills.

The ultimate decision is based on your personal goals and interest so choose wisely!

How is NIT PATNA for M.Tech.?

AS
Aditi Sinha Posted On : August 31st, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Patna (2020)

I completed my M.Tech in Microelectronics & VLSI Design from NIT Patna. From my specialization, NIT Patna students get selected in PSUs like BSNL, etc. But for PSUs, the students usually look towards cracking the GATE exam.

Other than that, companies like AMD and STMicroelectronics offer internships to worthy students from Microelectronics & VLSI. The alumni network is quite strong in this M.Tech specialization, with its alumni having interned at STMicroelectronics, AMD, Infineon, Intel, IIT Hyderabad, and RRCAT. Some of the alumni work at organizations like General Motors, Cadence Noida and core companies in Japan.

The faculty is quite good with dedicated members like Dr. Gaurav Kaushal, Dr. Bharat Gupta, and others.

At NIT Patna, or any other IITs and NITs, you are expected to work hard during your Masters’. I would recommend you set clear goals for yourself. Some Masters’ students decide to prepare for ESE/ PSUs while others sharpen their skills to get placed in a core company in the private sector.

Which is better: KIIT or SRM?

KS

It is a very subjective question and the choice is ultimately yours to make. I would, though, give you some insight on KIIT.

The faculty at KIIT is very helpful. The teachers guide us whenever we need help. There is a strict no-ragging policy on campus and the seniors are amazing. We engage in a lot of extra-curricular activities besides study. KIIT Fest is really good and everyone looks forward to it.

Both KIIT and SRM have great faculty and placement records. Both institutions offer good opportunities. You should choose according to your personal preferences. For making an informed decision, I would recommend you talk to the students from both institutions and also do some basic research at your end.

What are some IIM Bangalore interview questions?

PR
Palak Raina Posted On : November 21st, 2022
Founder, School Bag

The interview panel generally consists of three to four interviewers. They are curious to ask about your qualifications, knowledge, awareness, work experience, job profile, and the confidence you hold and observe you deeply.

They are keen to know about your skills, the knowledge you possess regarding the facts as well as the latest news and updates about your company. They do not ask questions beyond these aspects. For them, every question is a way to know how much depth your understanding is and how well you can communicate in an understandable manner. Mostly, their questions are basic yet essential, sometimes in a tricky way to analyze the students.

Studied MBA at Christ University Bangalore, Graduated 2022

According to me, Christ University is the best option. Being a student of this university, I would like to say that Christ has fulfilled all the expectations that I had. At Christ, you will get an overview of the various aspects of business management. This two-year degree will help you to be knowledgeable about accountancy, finance and commerce. You will learn how business operates in the real world. Our university has some of the best faculty who continuously guide you throughout the course. Also, be prepared to solve lots of case studies. Study hard and try to gain practical knowledge as you will be tested rigorously during the midterms. The campus life is awesome at Christ. There is always some fest going on the campus and you can join any of the multiple clubs that are present or create a club of your own.

What is the craziest story you heard in IIT Bombay?

SS
Sandip Sadhukhan Posted On : March 1st, 2021
IIT Bombay (2019)

There are many crazy stories about IIT Bombay. There is an interesting story from the madhouse which features an elephant and a horse.

Once a few IIT students wanted to get an elephant for use in what used to be called EP (Entertain Program, which eventually became PAF). The details are a bit hazy, but the story goes something like this. After searching a lot they got a contact from a Tamil newspaper. This contact ultimately led them to Varadarajan Mudaliar, one of Mumbai’s most dreaded underground dons (in the 70s and 80s). He was actually quite amused by the whole situation and helped the students procure the elephant.

Arun Kaul was an Aeronautical Engineering student at IIT Bombay. He used to deliberately skip Organic Chemistry until he was warned to be thrown out.

Arun had found a sticky horse abandoned by his owner and would go to the lectures on horseback. He used to park it in the cycle stand outside the library. Once Ayaz Januja rode this horse to MB accompanied by a gang of 50 H4 punters who beat drums and bugles on the way. Finally, the horse was reclaimed by its owner.

Arun Kaul also rode a horse on IITB streets, for the launch of the madhouse, almost 35 years after his time.
