Both these universities have several advantages and each one of them has evolved in their own ways over the years. Both of them offer good facilities to their students, which is why it can get difficult to choose either one of them. However, in order to get over the dilemma about which one would be perfect for you, go through these points which will eventually help you make the final call.

These are some of the major factors that you should be taking into consideration before making a decision about which one you would choose as your future institution.
The biggest problem with most industries is that they don’t support students for Internships. However, India's Top 3 NITs due to its location advantage can still get away with it but mid-tier NIT students are suffering. So I would suggest you look for an institute that can provide an Internship. In order to get jobs in Semiconductor Companies, an Internship is a very effective tool.
Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.
| Parameters | NIT Goa | NIT Delhi | NIT Nagpur | NIT Bhopal | NIT Kurukshetra | NIT Durgapur |
| Tuition fees | 1.44 LPA | 96,866 | INR 1.25 LPA | INR 1.49 LPA | INR 70,000 | INR 1.49 LPA |
| Placement average | 94.64% | 95% | 100% | 82% | 89% | 71.92% |
| Average CTC | INR 7.35 LPA | INR 7 LPA | INR 6 LPA | INR 7.56 LPA | INR 11.7 LPA | INR 9.09 LPA |
Your preference order should be as follows.
NIT Bhopal > NIT Nagpur~> NIT Kurukshetra ~> NIT Durgapur > NIT Delhi ~> NIT Goa.
If you want to see rank-wise, of course, IIT Roorkee is the best option and you will notice a difference in a variety of parameters, but IIT Hyderabad is also a good option because it has good faculty members and offers all advanced courses. Placements are also good here. As a result, both are relatively similar.
Both are excellent Mtech programs, but IIT Roorkee has an advantage over IIT Hyderabad due to the older IIT and its superior research environment.
It is not just KJ Somaiya, but every college you decide to go to, find out the following, especially for post-graduate studies:
A friend of mine completed her M. Tech from KJ Somaiya and her experience was average. The research cell is not great and some teachers are well versed in their subject whereas others struggle with basic knowledge.
If you are concerned about placements, those are definitely improving over the years and this college will only be a good option for you if you are not looking for placements.
Yes IIEST Shibpur wants to give the choice of doing B.Tech and M.tech degrees from two different institutes. As most of the students opt for M.tech degrees after passing out from this college. If you have cleared GATE then you are also eligible for the scholarship program. After completing six semesters the students are asked about their choices for an M.Tech degree.
The college has signed an MOU with University of California Irvine in which the universities will be providing dual degree programs to the students. In this the students will have to complete a total 10 semesters in which 8 semesters from IIEST and 2 semesters from University of California. This will be a five year integrated program. The students who would like to continue with 9th and 10th semesters will be given a choice by the university to do a masters program from the universities that are tied up with IIEST Shibpur. You will also get the chance to do projects at reputed places. In any case the college will provide an opportunity to do at least one semester internship as a part of a master's project in any industry. The college is also trying an MOU with IITs and universities abroad for a five year integrated program.
Based on my research, here is some relevant information to assist you-
IIIT Bangalore offers much better infrastructure, research facilities, and placement opportunities as compared to NIT Surathkal. However, the fee structure at IIIT Bangalore is also on the higher side. Most of the top brands visit both these campuses for placements.
As of June 2023, the highest CTC for M.Tech ECE stood at 38 LPA, at IIIT Bangalore. The average CTC stood at 26.2 LPA, and the median CTC stood at 22.5 LPA.
Though both are top colleges, I would recommend you choose IIIT Bangalore for M.Tech ECE. Especially, if the fee is not an issue for you.

As of now, IIEST has recently become an institute which is part of the INI, yet it somehow has not procured enough time to evolve as an Institute of National Importance. It is in fact known to be a very well-reputed institute, however, IIEST is yet lesser heard of outside West Bengal.
If compared on the basis of placements, it does not occupy the space which most of the IITs and NITs have covered, such as Warangal, Surathkal, Tiruchi, Allahabad, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, and several others, but IIEST still has established in factors concerning placements in the past years.
Although, certain years have seen numerous students getting placed in larger percentages by different companies. Having said that, the highest package seized was by the Computer science department with 32 LPA by a student working in Google now.

This time forward, it is now an individual’s responsibility to decide whether or not it is worth joining a 5 year course. You should sort your priorities in the first place, deciding if you want to perform in either Research or the Job sector. If you end up opting for Research, then the only logical option seconding IITs and IISc, is IIEST. You can stay assured of not repenting your period of time in the 5 year course you are required to do, once you choose research.
However, if you are wondering about moving to the job sector, then it probably would be better to join an institute that offers students a 4 year course. All things considered, there is an added advantage of joining a 4 years course which is that if you wish to pursue M.Tech, you will have better options in your hand, like the U.S., by preparing to sit in exams such as GATE or GRE, with a good rank whatsoever. This can stand as an advantage if you are planning to enroll in IIEST, because it is only then that your extra 1 year would definitely not be wasted.
Although, lastly, it largely is your personal decision whether or not IIEST is worth to put your hands on.
I have a few friends from NIT Jalandhar and they vouch for the M.Tech CSE Information Security course. The faculties for the branch are great. They have extensive knowledge about the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of the branch.
Here are some highlights of the course.

According to my friends, if you are opting for the MTech CSE Information Security course make sure you have easy access to computer facilities at any given time.
Overall, NIT Jalandhar is a decent option, if you have the choice to join the institute you should go for it.
If I was in your place and had to choose between the aforementioned institutes, I would set my preference order as follows
NSIT IT >= DTU IT > DTU SE > MNNIT CSE
The reason I have placed NSIT and DTU in the first place is because of their location in the capital city. This opens multiple doors of opportunities and exposure that might not be available in other colleges. Also, the quality of students these colleges attract is top notch and you will end up befriending some of the most genius minds.
However, if you are passionate about programming and CS, then choose IIIT Delhi because its curriculum and overall ambiance are CS oriented. The research culture and facilities here are unmatched and students conduct high-end research under the guidance of some great faculty.
Your last option should be MNNIT mainly because of its poor location.
Hope this helped you make a wise decision!
