How good are the placements and packages for electronics and instrumentation in BITS Pilani?

PS
Prakash Singh Posted On : May 14th, 2024
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Graduated 2023
  • When it comes to the BITS Pilani campus, the scope of getting placed at top companies is huge. First, let me tell you about the placement process that is followed by BITS Pilani.
  • The placements are divided into two semesters for all three campuses. You will have to choose which semester you want to sit for placements by the end of the third year.
  • Normally, students who sit for the first semester have a CGPA above 8 and those who sit for the second semester have a CGPA in the range of 6 to 8.
  • Mostly, those who have less than 8 CGPA do not get to sit for placements in the first semester. The job offers from the recruiters are good. About 15-20 companies visit the college for both semesters.
  • However, your opportunities are better if you get to sit for the first semester. So, try to maintain a CGPA above 8.

RS
Rekha Solanki Posted On : October 22nd, 2021

Hyderabad University is undoubtedly a place where students can turn into passionate researchers and enthusiastic teachers. It has created a good M.Sc. curriculum with equally strong experimental and theoretical foundations.

In the final semester, it offers three specializations: Modern Optics, Condensed Matter Physics, and High-Energy Physics. Along with any of the specializations, there will be two laboratory sessions and the main project as well.

  1. Experimental Physics: There will be 7 laboratory courses which are necessary for all students: Electronics, Digital Electronics, Modern Physics, LASER Physics, Microwave, Solid-State Physics, Nuclear Physics.
  2. Theoretical Physics: It is, nevertheless, one of the greatest places to pursue a specialty in high-energy physics. Particle Physics, General Relativity and Gravitation, Lie Algebra and Group Theory, Quantum Field Theory, and other courses are included.
  3. Education: HCU is home to some wonderful people and books. Find them and approach them with open arms and hearts. Interact, inquire, and gain knowledge.

Does ragging exist in Grant Medical College Mumbai?

TM
Tamalika Menon, Posted On : November 25th, 2021
MBBS from Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy Group of Hospitals (2012)

Yes. Ragging was prevalent in Grant Medical College (GMC) during 2006. This declined gradually after some years in the premises of the hostels.

This used to happen mostly in the boys' hostels and the raging involved from staying up all night, missing lectures, completing the assignments of the seniors, etc.

Mainly students in the hostels were prone to ragging. Nowadays due to stricter rules and regulations, this has decreased. Once 3-4 students were suspended when found responsible.

It is suggested that you talk to your HoD, your warden and your parents, as they will be able to guide you to take the right step after that.

Ragging is a problem which should be brought under control by strict laws and regulations. Severe punishment should also be applied to reduce such occurrences taking place in the college premises.

What is a typical day like for an M.B.B.S undergraduate studying at KMC, Manipal?

SS
Shambhavi Sharma Posted On : September 28th, 2023
MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

One of my close friends studies at KMC Manipal so she shared her daily routine in college.

  • A typical day at KMC Manipal usually begins at 8:30 in the morning.
  • Students have to rush to grab their breakfast and reach the lecture hall on time. The lectures begin at 8: 30 and end at 10: 30 after which a short break is given during which students go to the CBS canteen and have a samosa sandwich, bread pakoda.
  • The break is followed by DH from 11–1. Dissection is the best part of 1MBBS and will intrigue you a lot.
  • The lunch break starts at 1 p.m. and lasts until 2:30, so you can even take a short nap.
  • Histology, Osteology, tutorials, or labs begin around 2:30 and last till 4 p.m. after which the day comes to an end at least academically.
  • With the end of the students, students go on to pursue things of their choice. Some sports enthusiasts head to MARENA, one of the best sports complexes in India. Some of the bookworms rush to the Health Sciences Library, some others spend time hanging out with friends while some grab a quick nap.
  • Students can be seen by being involved in many activities like binge-watching their favorite shows, playing video games, and exploring the city.
  • IMC Manipal has several events throughout the year and you are allowed to attend fests if other colleges too like WGSHA's food fests, MIC, and MIT's concerts.

Indeed KMC Manipal will offer the most liberating experience ever!

How fun is your life being in AIIMS Bhubaneswar or do studies just overburden it?

HD
Hrishita Das, Posted On : June 4th, 2023
MBBS from AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar (2021)

Bhubaneswar is a lovely city and the campus is tranquil and beautiful, unlike the hustle and bustle of life at AIIMS Delhi. As you enter, you will see a blue-roof hospital. Next, you will have an orientation program that lasts for 10 days. Here is a year-wise glimpse of life at AIIMS Bhubaneshwar.

1st Year

  • The first year at AIIMS Bhubaneshwar witnesses fast-paced studies and a very hectic schedule
  • You have to wake up as early as 6 30 and be back to bed by 12 in the morning.
  • There is very limited freedom and fun inside the campus and students go out occasionally for a break
  • Around November, the restrictions on first-year students are relaxed a bit.
  • The first year focuses more on studies and less on fun.

2nd Year

  • This year begins with a fun-filled trip to JIPMER Spandan
  • The 3rd-semester witnesses many fun events and you will be busy with a number o events lined up like Annual Day, Ganesh Puja, and Durga Puja Vacations.
  • Many students fall back on their studies during this year because of too many extracurricular activities. So make sure you maintain a balance.
  • Overall, the second year is more relaxed than the first year.

3rd Year

  • This year is probably the most laid-back year
  • Many students start joining extracurriculars such as swimming classes
  • There are no evening classes
  • Weekends are usually spent outside hanging out with friends
  • The postings are also easy and flexible

The life of a student is how he fashions it and there is no fixed lifestyle. Some spend their days in the library reading while some prefer going out and exploring things for fun.

Are AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Jodhpur as good as AIIMS Delhi? Are they better than medical college Kolkata?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 4th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

While AIIMS Delhi is the first choice for every medical student, my sister chose AIIMS Bhubaneswar over AIIMS Delhi. Here are a few reasons that made her take this bold decision.

  • The primary most factor that should determine your choice of college should be its proximity to home. Bhubaneswar is just 6 hours by train and 45 minutes by flight from our home. She loved the fact that she could make surprise visits anytime.
  • AIIMS Bhubaneshwar food is scrumptious and the taste is similar to homemade food.
  • Food is just like home. My GIT is at peace now.
  • Students of AIIMS Bhubaneshwar get huge PG hostel rooms right from Day 1. AIIMS Delhi does not allot rooms right away and you will have to stay temporarily outside the campus.
  • The hostel facilities at Bhubaneshwar are much better than in Delhi. This is the primary reason that made her choose AIIMS Bhubaneshwar as she wanted a peaceful hostel life.
  • The hostels are well-secured even for girls with a security guard downstairs 24/7. You can easily access electrical and plumbing services in case of any issues.
  • AIIMS Bhubaneshwar has flexible rules and you can take a stroll around campus or walk on the terrace, anytime.

I believe the choice of your college should depend on the level of comfort you feel there so that you can study in a healthy environment without getting frustrated.

Why do top rankers at JEE Main choose DTU over IITs and NITs?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 6th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

There are a number of reasons why many top rankers in JEE Main choose DTU over IITs and NITs. Here are some possible reasons.

  • DTU is a top Engineering institute well-regarded by top companies as well as engineering aspirants.
  • The location of DTU is what attracts many from all over the country.
  • Another possible reason why one would choose DTU over IITs would be an average JEE Advanced rank that does not let them have a branch of their choice.

In JEE Advanced if your rank is 2000+, your options for the branches are limited in IITs. Those who have a specific goal and preference then prefer going for a tier-2 institute that lets them. Some want the IIT tag and compromise on their branch.

It’s the ones that look at the bigger picture and compare colleges on wider aspects than the brand value that end up choosing DTU, the best choice after IITs and NITs.
