Among SRM and Manipal University, the latter will be a better option. Manipal has a better peer group. The student-teacher ratio is good. Manipal offers excellent opportunities for personal and overall development. Manipal has a strong alumni network owing to its more than 60 years of existence.

What is the difference between IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata in terms of quality of education, study environment, and placements?

SG
Sreeja Gupta Posted On : February 23rd, 2022
MBA International Business, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi

Here are a few factors that differentiate IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata campuses.

  • Location is certainly a differentiating factor between the Delhi campus and the Kolkata campus. Students of Delhi campus get more exposure due to the proximity to the mainstem industry and to Gurgaon’s Cybercity. But the student body of IIFT Kolkata goes the extra mile to make sure this is changing.
  • Although the faculty of the Delhi campus is more diverse, the environment on Kolkata campus is more conducive for research.
  • The Delhi campus has the WTO center, while there is a Center for North Eastern Studies (CeNEST) on the Kolkata campus.
  • Although it’s not often talked about, there is a differentiation between placements at both campuses. However, IIFT Kolkata is catching up quickly in terms of placement numbers.

As established earlier, the Delhi campus has its advantages, but IIFT Kolkata is striving hard to bridge the gap.

Is FMS better than XLRI?

MS
Moinak Saha Posted On : March 23rd, 2023
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

I would strongly assert that FMS is way ahead of XLRI. I have mentioned a few strong points that support my opinion. Before I begin, let me enlighten you on the fact that this answer is based on thorough research and reviews of graduates of respective B Schools.

Fees

  • The major USP of FMS is its average fees with the best placements. FMS has an overall fee of around INR 2 lakhs for MBA and gives tough competition to the fees of XLRI which stands at INR 23.60 lakhs.
  • Anyone with common sense would prefer 2 lakhs over 23 Lakhs especially when the ROI is equally good or even better. You can live a stress-free life after your MBA with no burden or repaying a heavy loan.

Industry Acceptance

  • Let me clear the very common misconception that IIMs tags are preferred over anything by most companies. Well, FMS graduates have an equal demand and are in no way lower than an IIM graduates.
  • XLRI is the best choice when it comes to MBA-HRM. Most companies that offer HR roles prefer XLRI graduates even over IIMs.

Placements

  • FMS has made its high ROI known all over the world. It constantly hosts 100% placements. It has distinguished its identity as one of the highest ROI-producing B-schools globally. FMS Delhi's highest package stood at INR 1.23 CPA whereas the average package stood at INR 34.1 LPA and the median package stood at INR 31 LPA. 97% of offers were made above INR 20 LPA. A total of 27% of students were placed in the Consulting Sector and there was a 19% Increase in the number of students placed in the BFSI Sector compared to the last year.
  • XLRI placement scenario is outstanding. In its recent placement drive, XLRI recorded 100% Placement with the highest offer at INR 1.1 Crore. It offers a high ROI where the average placement package stands above INR. 24 LPA, while the general cost for its PGDM program is around INR. 11 LPA.

While both excel in placements, it’s the extremely low fees at FMS that make the ROI amazing.

Overall I would say that FMS is a clear winner when compared to XLRI

Which one is better, IGNOU or SOL?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 4th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

DU SOL is more commonly known to the students and also has an easier education structure. However, IGNOU is more student-friendly. The checking of exam papers is carried out systematically and IGNOU also provides better exam results than DU SOL.

IGNOU gives internal marks to the students for assignments.

IGNOU offers various UG and PG courses. Whereas, SOL offers only a few selected courses.

My friend opted for her BA in English from SOL, DU. She left SOL DU after a year because of SOL’s poor management system. She was allotted a study center and exam center which was around 25-30 km away from her home, making things difficult and inconvenient for her. When she switched to IGNOU she realized that the staff is very helpful and solved her admission discrepancies in the most friendly manner. She had the freedom to choose her regional center and her study center, and her exam center was near her home.

These are some more advantages of studying at IGNOU-

  1. Admission, re-admission, exam form submission, assignments submission, and other processes can be easily done. Most of the processes can be done online.
  2. The course fee is nominal and the study material is excellent.
  3. You can easily buy guides from GPH, Neeraj, or other publication houses online in case you lose your study material.
  4. 30% of marks are based on the assignments while the rest is based on examination. The assignment pattern is similar to the exam pattern. As you do your assignments you are simultaneously preparing for your exams.
  5. Exams (TEE) are held in June and December. You can take admission according to your requirements and can give any TEE (June or December) from the second year of your course.
  6. You get to choose your examination center.
  7. Any doubts are answered by visiting the study center. Each study center has a coordinator and other staff for IGNOU students.
  8. Study centers are present in remote locations as well. You can easily find a study center within 15 km of your residence. Study centers can be changed as well.
  9. You can opt for general BA/BSc or honors in BA/BSc.

Thus, based on these advantages, you should opt for IGNOU over SOL DU for completing your degree.

Which one is better IGNOU or SOL?

NA
Nishant Awasthi Posted On : October 17th, 2022
Student at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi

IGNOU is believed to be better than SOL in so many ways. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • All of the approved programs are well-known.

  • Simple admission, re-admission, submission of examination forms, submission of assignments, and other processes. The majority of these can be completed online.

  • Nominal Charge.

  • Excellent study materials.

  • If you misplace your study materials, you can purchase them online from GPH, Neeraj, or another publishing house.

  • 30% of the marks are for assignments, and the rest are for the exam. Because assignments are similar to examination question papers (i.e., sample question papers), you are also preparing for the examination while working on them.

  • Any query and doubts can be easily got answered by visiting study centers. For IGNOU students, each center has a coordinator and other staff.

  • Study centers can be found even in the most remote areas, and you can usually find one within 15 kilometers of your home.

IGNOU is also very flexible in that it allows students to complete their degrees in a reasonable amount of time. You are not required to complete all exams at once. It is possible to divide it into semesters. This will also aid in the removal of mental burdens.

Why is IIM Bangalore better than IIM Ahmedabad?

AM
Akshita Mishra Posted On : March 5th, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

There’s a never-ending comparison between IIM A vs IIM B vs IIM C. Naturally, there is no definite winner. The reasons why some people consider IIM Bangalore to be better are as follows.

Course Curriculum: The curriculum and pedagogy are designed in such as way that you will get all-around opportunities in each term. IIM A has a rigorous academic curriculum for the first year. You won’t get much time to explore any other activities besides academics there. While your IIM B journey will start with a war of sections, i.e. an inter-sections event with various competitions that goes on for one week.

Credit Division: IIM B has a balanced credit division, i.e. 55% in the first year and 45% in the second year. While IIM A assigns almost 67% of credits for first-year and 33% credits for second-year. So, you will get more time to bond with your classmates and seniors at IIM B. You will have the freedom to pursue your interests other than academics as well.

NSRCEL: NS Raghavan Center for Entrepreneurial Learning at IIM B is more than just an entrepreneurship center or cell. It offers one core and one elective course. The coursework includes real start-up work.

Placements: IIM A, and IIM B both have excellent placement records. But due to the process around the top 20-30% of students get multiple placement offers. While IIM B follows an algorithm that ensures that the whole batch gets a fair shot at all companies.

Students usually choose IIM B over IIM A for its more balanced course structure.

Which has better placements IIT or IISc?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : May 4th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Both IISc and IITs have great differences because of their varied purposes for establishments. ITs were established to provide the finest technical manpower for building the nation. IISc on the other hand was established by private bodies to conduct core research with a focus on advancing the scientific capabilities of the country. IITs delivers education related to BTech courses whereas IISc only focuses on MS or M.Tech (graduate). Placements in IISc and IITs are equally good.

The dynamic research culture leaves no desire for placements and after the first year, many students completely focus on research. I have many friends who completed MS and Ph.D. from IISc, joined the Software industry at great positions but then left the industry in two years to continue pure research again. Apart from that placements are far better and for better positions in IISc.
