Which is better for computer sciences engineering, GNDU Amritsar or Thapar Patiala?

JV
Jiya Vaid, Posted On : November 15th, 2021
studied Computer Science Engineering at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (2021)

CSE at Thapar Patiala is much better when compared to GNDU Amritsar. This choice majorly depends on the individual and might vary from person to person.

If you are dedicated and passionate about the field you are pursuing and are eager to learn, then whichever college you choose, you will definitely succeed. As you are not dependent on the college’s reputation, but learning the skills for the industry for your betterment.

Also, your economic stability is a major concern. If the fees are not your problem you can choose Thapar over GNDU. Thapar provides better exposure and salary packages, whereas GNDU has average placements offering lower salary packages.

But if fees are one of your major concerns, then opt for GNDU, as it will be better.

Is CUSAT in Kuttanad good for engineering?

SS
Shridhar Sriraman Posted On : August 8th, 2023
Lives in Pondicherry, Puducherry, India

To be honest, you will be very disappointed if you join CUSAT expecting to be taught by highly experienced professors and a top-notch infrastructure. If you are nevertheless joining CUSAT, bear in mind that you will have to resort to self-study most of the time.

  • Academics: CUSAT is a big disappointment in terms of the quality of education offered. Most courses are taught by guest faculties who have no knowledge or interest in teaching.
  • Infrastructure: The infrastructure again is in a poor state and no provisions are made for extracurriculars and sports. cricket etc. Don't expect a court for basketball either.
  • Electricity supply: The institute has a poor electricity supply and there isn’t even a generator facility.
  • Library: The library is under-stocked and most of the books you will need won’t be available. Moreover, it is so small that you will feel cramped here.

Considering all the above points, I don’t think it’s wise to join CUSAT in Kuttanad for Engineering.

What's the point of teaching Engineering Drawing to first year CSE students (RGPV)?

PD
Pranit De Posted On : November 5th, 2022
BE from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal

Teaching Engineering Drawing to first year CSE students tends to give them a basic understanding of design, different views(top, front, side, sectional), Projection(1st or 3rd), standards & formats.

ED may be useful in the following cases:

  • Designing/drawing computer components and games

  • Developing new software for mech & civil.

Srinivasa Ramanujan (Indian Mathematician) passed Mathematics but failed in languages because of a lack of interest in languages. This means that if you have decided to go in a specific field, you will have to study all subjects in order to pass the exams in college.

Similarly in CSE, you will find courses of not much value once you start working somewhere.

The higher you will climb the ladder of studies, the clearer you will become in which field to choose.

So CSE will be helpful if you switch to CAD or CAM in future. In addition, it helps to develop perception of objects.

Eventually, it’s you who decided what to and how much to make out of a course from the institute. Your decisions on how to study, divide your time, and include extracurricular activities are what determine the value of the course you are pursuing.
