Are there reservations for Dalits at Aligarh Muslim University?

NS
Nikita Siddiqui Posted On : January 19th, 2021
B.Sc Hons Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology, Aligarh Muslim University (2022)

No, there is no special reservation for Dalits in Aligarh Muslim University. In fact, there is no reservation for any caste or religion at AMU. However, you need to mention your religion in the application form. After the entrance, the selection list is prepared purely based on merit.

Although the university does have an internal quota  AMU. If you want to take admission in an MTech course at AMU, your qualifying degree is BTech or BE. You can take advantage of the internal student quota, only if you have completed your undergraduate engineering degree from AMU.

Some of the other quotas at AMU are as follows.

CA Quotas for Child of Alumni

CE Quotas for Child of Employees

NRI Quotas for Non-Residential of an Indian student

PWD Quotas for persons with Disabilities

Sports quota

-

AMU has reservations for only internal (SC, ST, OBc) and other categories of students, not for Dalits.

IIT Guwahati Cons

  • Less academic flexibility in choosing courses
  • Locational disadvantage results in less exposure to expert lectures
  • Major issues related to connectivity with high airfare
  • Professors are very less motivated in delivering quality lectures due to lack of motivation.

IIT Hyderabad Pros

  • Locational advantage results in better connectivity and excellent exposure to industry and experts
  • More academic flexibility owing to the fractal academics
  • Young and enthusiastic faculty members who have great experience and conduct top-notch research

IIT Hyderabad Cons

  • The permanent campus is still under construction.

IIT Guwahati should never be your first choice and IIT Hyderabad is a much better option.

Which branch is better to join, CSE at IIT Indore or MNC (mathematics and computing) at IIT Guwahati?

SD
Souvick Das Posted On : May 4th, 2023
Software Engineer at Microsoft

My brother was in a similar dilemma last year when he had to choose between MnC IIT Guwahati and CSE IIT Indore. Eventually, he went for IIT Indore CSE. The main reason he decided against going for the MnC program was his lack of interest in Math. And when we talk about Math at IIT, trust me when I say it’s at another level. It’s purely proof-based and high-level Math that can be handled only by true Math lovers. The academic workload is also high with 60% Math and 40% CS courses.

Now, here are a few points that might convince you to join IIT Indore instead

  • IIT Indore qualified for ACM-ICPC World Finals thrice. This in itself is quite an achievement considering this event's importance.
  • As per HackerRank, IIT Indore is said to have the best coders in the whole country. Additionally, it’s at the 8th position globally for the best coders
  • IIT Indore has an extensive alumni base who completed their Master's from top foreign universities like Stanford, Caltech, University of Columbia. Many talented alumni also increase the credibility of the institute by working at reputed firms like Google and Facebook.
  • This year, the CS department recorded 100% placements with the highest and average packages standing at INR 48.5 LPA and INR 30.32 LPA respectively.

Overall, IIT Indore CSE is a much better choice than MnC IIT Guwahati considering the work of and job opportunities.

Which should I choose between PICT, MIT Pune, VIT Pune, for ENTC or WCE Sangli electronics?

AC
Abhinav Chowdhury Posted On : October 16th, 2023
Lives in Pune, Maharashtra, India

Here is a detailed analysis of the aforementioned colleges based on some common aspects

  • Branch: Electronics and E&TC are two very different branches covering many different subjects. So it’s best to go through the syllabus and then decide the branch of your choice.
  • Academics: Academically, VIT Pune and WCE Sangli are better choices than MIT and POCT mainly because both are autonomous and have a pointer scale and thus scoring a good CGPA is easier.
  • Fees: WCE charges the least among these colleges mainly because it’s a government-funded college. PICT charges fewer fees in comparison with MIT and VIT.
  • Location: All three institutes namely PICT, MIT & VIT, are in Pune so enjoy great location benefits

Hope you make a wise choice!

Is Anna University good for studying MBA?

SM
Santosh Mathew Posted On : December 19th, 2022
M.E in Teaching Profession, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2013)

Anna University is one of the most coveted colleges for MBA under the TANCET category. The reasons for its high demand are:

  • Extremely low fees in comparison to other colleges which makes it possible for the financially weaker students to apply.
  • The faculty is not only experienced but also very supportive. Rather than just teaching, why also enhance the students general social competence.
  • The university offers a dual specialisation in the following courses: Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Systems and Operations.
  • The placements are also fairly good. Anyone who has scored above average marks gets placed easily. Highest CTC offered was INR 36 LPA whereas Average CTC offered was INR 7 LPA. Some major companies that visit the campus for recruitment include Cisco, DE Shaw, Ola, Samsung, Tiger Analytics.

Besides whether s university is good or bad depends more on your soft skills like communication skills and determination.

How much is a part-time M.Tech in Anna University worth?

AT
Arun Singh Tanwar Posted On : December 16th, 2022
B.E in Computer Engineering, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2016)

Honestly speaking, a part-time M.Tech course is not of much worth. A course like M.Tech requires a practical approach. This won't be much possible at Anna University. So all you will be left behind is a title attached to your name. This course is also a waste of time and money as the fees of this course are quite high.

This course won't yield you any valuable results unless you are extremely passionate and a self-learner.

Which is better CSE at Walchand college of engineering, Sangli or VIT Pune CSE?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : October 13th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

As opposed to the preconceived notion, not every college in Pune is visited by the best companies. In fact, good companies can go to a great college even if it’s located in the middle of nowhere. That being said, WCE Sani is a better choice than VIT Pune in terms of the opportunities it offers.

  • Placement: WCE has many big IT giants visiting the campus for placements.
  • Club Activity: WCE has an active club life with many Technical & Non- Technical clubs. These clubs ensure the holistic development of the students
  • Senior-Junior Interaction: Juniors receive constant guidance from seniors throughout their college life and there is a healthy relationship between them.
  • Campus: WCE's infrastructure may not be at par with other private colleges but it has a big well-maintained campus spread over 90 acres with full greenery in it.

Hope this helps you!

Which is a better option: IIT Guwahati CSE, IIT BHU CSE, IIT Bombay mech or IIT Kharagpur electrical and electronics communication?

VS
Vishal Sharma Posted On : June 20th, 2024
Studies at IIT Kharagpur
  • College wise - IIT Bombay > IIT Kharagpur > IIT Guwahati > IIT BHU
  • Branch wise - CSE > ECE ~ Mechanical

However, this is simply a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences.

Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you.

Here are some information to make your decision easier:-

  • The placement scenario for ECE in IIT Kharagpur is good and stands next to the CS department in the table.
  • Though ECE is the largest department when compared with others it still maintains its record well in placements.
  • The NIRF Ranking of IIT Bombay is 3rd, IIT Kharagpur is 6th, IIT Guwahati is 7th and IIT BHU is 15th.
  • The Average placement at IIT Bombay Mechanical is 21.82 LPA with IIT Kanpur ECE is 26.27 LPA, IIT Guwahati CSE is 25 LPA and IIT BHU CSE is 22.7 LPA
  • More than 250 companies visited the IIT Kanpur campus in 2024.
