I'm working in a joint venture of Indian government and earning 7 LPA. I'm selected for IIM Kozhikode PGP course (2021-2023) Should I join it?

MS
Mahak Sengupta Posted On : September 15th, 2021
PDGM from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2016)

Whether to join IIM Kozhikode or not is definitely your call because the scenario once you join IIM K would be different.

I would like to share with you an experience of my friend, who attended IIM K.

  • He dropped out of IIMK as he found it stressful. You should know that the course is rigorous and it prepares you for the stress that you are about to deal with.
  • Obviously, the chance of you earning a high salary is for sure. But again, it depends on how well the economy is doing.
  • Most of the time the employers have a preference order, i.e. IIT>NIT>fresher, for recruitment.
  • To ensure good placement opportunities try to be in the top 10% of the class in terms of GPA. Also, you can become a part of organizing events, leading clubs, etc.
  • Since you will have 12 months of experience, you will be treated as a fresher and won’t be allowed to sit in lateral placement. So, OPs companies will be out of the picture which is maybe your interest since you are coming from a similar background. So, if you want an OPs job role, stay in the industry for another year and then join IIM K.
  • In order to get a consulting or finance role, you will need to come in the top 10 of your batch. You will also need CFA certification.
  • Marketing and IT companies will prefer you since you are a fresher. So, if you are interested in Marketing or IT, you can definitely join the institute.
  • HR companies don’t usually visit IIM K.

So, I will advise you to consider all these factors and make a more convenient choice for yourself.

What will be the scope of an M.Tech in RGPV University?

AK
Amit Kumar Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
Studied at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal

Pursuing M Tech from RGPV university will not bring very favourable results. This is because the facilities are not of premium quality. Lack of good quality equipment will not let you complete the project appropriately. And most importantly this university is very lacking when it comes to placements.

If you are willing to pursue M Tech then go for M Tech in IIT or top NITs like NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal. These universities will provide benefits like well-informed faculty, study material, and elaborate funds for big projects. You may even go abroad for research programs.

Is it hard to gain admission to the MSIT course at JNTUH?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 8th, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

It is not difficult to get admission into the MSIT course at JNTU Hyderabad. You just need to prepare the basic quantitative test material and you will qualify for the entrance exam.

MSIT course is offered at  IIIT H, JNTUH, JNTUA, and JNTUK. Out of 1000 candidates who seek admission into these institutions for the MSIT program, even if you are in the 300th or 400th position, you will get into one among JNTUH, JNTUA, or JNTUK.

I would suggest you aim for IIIT H for your MSIT. If you do not get admission over there, then you can choose JNTUH as your second option. IIIT H has a better reputation and placement record in comparison to JNTU Hyderabad.

I would also recommend you consult the concerned faculty, students, and alumni at these institutions to get a clearer picture of whether or not this is a good course for you. Do pay attention to coding apart from the desire of getting placed in an MNC. MSIT is a very fast-paced and difficult course. You will have to learn more than the prescribed topics.

Overall, getting into JNTU Hyderabad for your MSIT is not difficult but do keep IIIT Hyderabad as your first priority.

Which one is best for Computer Science Engineering, Jaypee University of Information Technology (Solan), CGC, Chandigarh University, Chitkara University or Lovely Professional University?

AC
Amrita Choudhary Posted On : May 28th, 2024
BTech CSE (2022-Present), LPU

My suggestion would be to go for a BTech (CSE) at LPU. First of all, LPU is ranked 50 among top engineering institutes in India by NIRF Ranking 2023. Moreover, you’ll have the option to pursue specialised BTech programs at LPU, for e.g. industry collaboration, work integration, international credit transfer option, etc.

Here are some of the top features of pursuing a BTech (CSE) at LPU.

  • BTech at LPU has industry collaborations with top global conglomerates like Google, Microsoft, Dell, Cisco, Bosch, etc.
  • BTech Placements at LPU are excellent with the highest package being INR 64 LPA in 2023.
  • Every year there are over 900 recruiters that visit LPU for BTech placements.
  • Pursuing a BTech at LPU can give you the opportunity to serve as a campus ambassador for Google, Amazon, Intel, etc.
  • LPU offers various scholarships and tuition fee waivers for its BTech students.

Based on the above reasons, I would suggest you choose LPU for your B.Tech CSE programme.

How do companies perceive these IIM Rohtak EPGPX courses like?

AA
Ananya Agrawal Posted On : January 18th, 2023
Former Executive Education Expert

Even though all IIMs have converted their PGP and EPGP programs into MBA degrees, IIM Rohtak continues to offer Post Graduate Diplomas. Companies do not regard this program as an MBA qualification. It is regarded as a Diploma course from IIM Rohtak, a step down from the two-year EPGP or PGP. Candidates who complete this course are not eligible to pursue a Ph.D., FPM (or even EFPM) from any IIM (including IIM Rohtak).

Fees for a one-year online program are also extremely high. All IIM MBA programs are now GST-free, but IIM Rohtak continues to charge fees that are "inclusive of taxes" even though there aren't any (if the course is truly an EPGP/PGP). Businesses would place a higher value on two-year PGP or EPGP programs, like the one offered by IIM Kozhikode.
