How do the so-called second tier MBA colleges, like NITIE / MDI / IIFT / JBIMS, stack up against the creme de la creme, like IIM A, B, C, L / XLRI / FMS?

AK

There are several misconceptions about B-Schools among the general public, mostly about placement, alumni, faculty, and brand value. There are several excellent institutes in India for management courses, and all the institutes mentioned in the question are among those.

The points below give some overview about the mentioned institutes:

  • Considering the factor of brand value, it is obvious that there is no institute that can defeat IIMs in India. But, for all other factors such as faculty alumni, placement, etc, all the above-mentioned colleges are almost the same, if not better.
  • Some of the institutes among NITIE, MDI, IIFT, and JBIMS are even better than some of the newer IIMs in several aspects.
  • All of the institutes in the list are among the top 10 B-Schools in India, which makes the level of such institutes quite evident in general.

Therefore, these institutes are in no way backward than the so-called crème de la crème institutes like IIM A, B, C, L, XLRI, and FMS.

AJ
Arijit Jain, Posted On : November 23rd, 2021
BMS from University of Delhi (2022)

According to the reviews online, College of Vocational Studies (CVS) is much better than Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC-DU). Here are some reasons why:

  • CVS is great, popular for its student culture and campus life.
  • The environment and the crowd here is warm and welcoming.
  • MAC on the other hand is known for its best courses BBE and B.Com.
  • MAC also has a proper and well maintained infrastructure.
  • MAC conducts classes 6 days a week whereas CVS conducts 5 days a week.
  • In MAC the student crowd is divided into groups and does not possess unity like CVS.
Categories MAC CVS
Placement Percentage 70% 65-75%
Highest CTC - 5 LPA
Average CTC 4 LPA 3 LPA
Recruiting Companies KPMG, Deloitte, Byju’s, Wipro, etc. TresVista, Walmart, Morgan Stanley, Amazon, etc.

Lastly, the fest organized at CVS is amazing. You will get to see the performances of Musical groups and bands like The Local Train, etc. The CVS fest is so good it is often compared to the fest of IIT Delhi called Rendezvous.

What is the ranking of DTU in India?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 5th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

DTU is a government institute under the NCT Delhi. The institute has a wide range of branches like Production, Mechanical, Biotech, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, etc. These branches aren’t available in tier-2 colleges like NSIT and IIIT Delhi. The core branches have poor placement statistics which makes the NSIT and IIIT Delhi placements look better.

Most students don't set placements as their goals after BTech these days but prefer appearing for competitive exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, UPSC Exams, SSC Exams, GATE, etc. That being said, Delhi is the supreme location that offers excellent opportunities for coaching and preparations for these exams apart from great placements and campus life.

Here are some official rankings of DTU

  • India Today: DTU BTech was ranked 8 out of 35 colleges in India in 2023.
  • NIRF: DTU Overall ranking by NIRF is 40 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023
  • IIRF: DTU Design ranking by IIRF is 11 out of 30 colleges in India in 2023
  • The Times of India: DTU B.Tech ranking by The Times Of India is 1 out of 200 colleges in India in 2022

Overall, DTU is a great option considering its ranking, location and the opportunities available.

How difficult is the AI course from IISc Bangalore for a graduate from Computer Science?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : July 14th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Well to be very honest, the AI course from IISv Bangalore is quite challenging for a graduate from CS. The course revolves around mathematical concepts. The fast-paced and rigorous curriculum makes it difficult to identify your weaknesses and work on them. Let me clarify the point that this scenario is not just in the case of IISc but AI in general is a field all about Math. It’s specially designed for those who are genuinely interested in this field.

The best part about this course is the Data Structure and Algorithm subject, a compulsory subject. Here are a few pros and cons of this program that will give you a general idea

Pros

  • IISc has some of the highest qualified professors who deliver such interesting lectures that you will start falling in love with the course. Their arguments of proof are very interesting and can be.
  • You will be interacting and having healthy discussions with geniuses from all over the country.

Cons

  • Sometimes you will find the lectures uninteresting and even fail to connect the dots of what is being taught.
  • There will be times when you will start regretting your decision if taking this course instead of CSA.

In reality, the course in itself isn’t flawed but our mid-sets are. These top institutes actually challenge our way of thinking which initially seems challenging but you later realize that it made you stand out in the crowd. The future prospects are great and trust me if you maintain a good CGPA, you will be placed exceptionally well.

Is rgpv a good university?

SG
Shashank Gupta Posted On : July 14th, 2022
B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal (2020)

RGPV is a decent university with affordable course fees and good infrastructure. If you are selecting RGPV, try to get branches such as CE, IT, or EC. These branches usually have better placement records. RGPV placements are good. Around 90% of students get placed through the campus drive. The average CTC offered is in the range of INR 6-7 LPA.

However, the curriculum followed by the university is outdated. They need to work on offering industry relevant education.

Is Sunstone Eduversity good for doing an MBA?

BB
Bithika Bera Posted On : May 19th, 2021
MBA from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2006)

I think I can give you some idea regarding the MBA course offered by Sunstone Eduversity, as my brother goes there. Most people look for a decent placement after an MBA degree. And Sunstone Eduversity has a quite unique trend regarding the same.

  • This university has a Pay After Placement model where you have to pay your course fees after getting placed into a top company with a decent package. This concept is very beneficial for the students and all the colleges and universities should start to adopt this concept.
  • You will also get a chance to do 9 months paid internship during your 2-year course with a stipend of around 15,000-25,000.

Hence, Sunstone Eduversity is a very good institute to pursue an MBA where you can learn a lot of practical knowledge too and the Pay After Placement model is one of the biggest advantages of this university.

How is the ICICI business leadership program at NISM?

AP
Aniket Patranabish Posted On : October 29th, 2021
MBA from Gujarat University (2016)

A few of my friends pursued the ICICI Business leadership program at NISM. According to their experience, the program is quite unique.

  • Selection to the program is done in three steps, i.e. written test, GD, and PI. Getting selected will not be difficult. However, the PI round can be tough. HR can ask tricky questions, you should be confident with your answers.
  • The ROI of the program is excellent because you hardly invest anything.
  • The certification and the degree will help you if you want to switch careers.

Security markets are a great area to work in and ICICI is an excellent organization that has produced many Stewarts over the years. If you are thinking of pursuing the ICICI Business leadership program at NISM, you should go for it.

What are the rules of AIIMS hostel in Rishikesh?

AM
Abhinav Mishra Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh (2021)

AIIMS Rishikesh is known for its rigid and disciplined college environment.

  • The hostel rules are very strict and both boys and girls have to report to the hostel by 10 pm.
  • The rules are even more rigid for girls as they are a lot of restrictions on girls' dress code also.
  • Taking a leave for going home is a very difficult task here as you have to go through tedious procedures before your vacation is approved. You will have to fill out an application and get it signed by your provost, followed by the signature of the Dean. Finally, you need to inform your warden and make her talk to your parents as a sign of approval.
  • You are not allowed to bring your own vehicles and birthday celebrations are also not allowed.

These are some illogical rules implemented by AIIMS Rishikesh. These rules implemented by the administration cause a lot of frustration. The students are not treated decently and AIIMS Rishikesh lacks the true essence of college life

Should I take admission in IIM Kashipur MBA analytics if offered, given that this will be their first batch for MBA analytics?

AK
Ayushi Kulthia Posted On : January 5th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (Graduated 2023)

My friend is a 2020 graduate of the institute who has witnessed the laying of the foundation of the MBA Analytics program. She benefited a lot from this course. According to her

Reasons to join the course

  • If you are interested in the Analytics domain then you should definitely go for it.
  • You might be uncertain about the course’s worth because it’s relatively new. But its affiliation with IIM is what adds value to it apart from its excellent placement opportunities.
  • If you are afraid that you will not be able to change domains in the future then you can relax. Its curriculum includes core MBA subjects from finance, marketing, operations, analytics, and HR along with fundamental concepts of analytics, in the first year.

Reason to not join the course

  • You are not interested in the Analytics domain.

So apart from your disinterest in the subject, nothing is stopping you from pursuing MBA in Analytics.

Does IIIT Hyderabad have better placements than the IITs?

AJ
Adinath Jain Posted On : July 31st, 2023
Studied at IIIT Hyderabad

Yes, it’s true that IIIT Hyderabad has better placements than IITs. For instance, IIIT Hhyderabad's average package for 2022 stood at INR 32 LPA whereas the top IIT Bombay average package stood at INR 23.26 LPA. Apart from the top IITs, most of the IITs have the highest package INR 40–60 LPA.

In IIIT Hyderabad 2022 placements, the highest package of INR 74 LPA was offered.

The placement scenario of IIIT Hyderabad is highly comparable to top IITs and here even the average students get placed with great packages. So, ultimately, it’s up to you which one to go for IIT or IIIT Hyderabad.
