I got an AIR rank of 3964 in the JEE Mains. Which one should I prefer, MNNIT Allahabad for computer science or electronics or DTU for software engineering?

AS
Adrija Sengupta Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

Both MNNIT Allahabad and DTU are well-established and much-reputed colleges. If you get admission to any of the colleges, your future will be bright and you will land up really well in companies.

Moreover, choose a branch that excites you as it is equally important as the college you will take admission in. If programming excites you, then MNNIT CSE is the best choice. If not, you can go for hardware options i.e. Electronics. Though, I'm not sure how good the software engineering of DTU is.

In terms of placements and research areas, MNNIT is not extreme but fine. You won’t get excellent faculties but you will learn a lot from their experiences. Try not to be depending on your faculty in your college life. You'll have to develop your interest and learn on your own.

Do not think only about the college but make sure you choose the correct branch as well. Both are equally important as you know that your future will depend on them.

Which college is better for civil engineering, SVITS Indore or LNCT Bhopal?

AT
Ayushi Tiwari Posted On : September 24th, 2021
Studied at Lakshmi Narain College of Technology,Bhopal

If you talk about civil engineering the scenario is quite similar for both the colleges whether it is SVITS Indore or LNCT Bhopal. Some of my friends are studying in both the colleges and here are some important facts you need to know.

  • For civil engineering, no core companies visit these colleges. However, a handful of companies might visit the campus ending up recruiting just about 3-5 students. Thus, core branches of engineering are not worth joining in these colleges.
  • If you want to prepare for GATE or other competitive exams, almost both cities are the same but Bhopal has an edge over Indore regarding the resources and facilities.
  • LNCT definitely has a higher number of placements with more and more software companies visiting the campus for recruitment. The placement ratio at LNCT remains better than SVITS or any other private college in the state.
  • Attendance criteria are a must in both the institutes with a minimum of 75% attendance compulsory for good sessional marks. Sometimes, it can be really hectic for you.
  • Although LNCT has an edge over SVITS due to a better placement record. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at LNCT ranges between 3-8 LPA, while at SVITS the average CTC offered is 3 LPA. The hectic schedule can be a hindrance if you want to do other preparations or additional courses. Here, attendance becomes the main issue as the college doesn’t give you attendance for preparing for competitive exams and so on.

In the end, core branches like civil engineering have the same situation in both colleges. Therefore, all you need to choose in the city and the placement record. In which, clearly LNCT stands higher in terms of both location and placement opportunities.

Is IIM Ahmedabad better than Aligarh Muslim University?

SK
Saikat Kundu Posted On : February 15th, 2021
IIT BHU (2019)

Both the colleges have their own reputation. My father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad while one of my brothers is pursuing Law from Aligarh Muslim University. Being a part of two prestigious colleges like IIM Ahmedabad and AMU, when they sit together and discuss something be it Law, ongoing cases, or any other matter, they both have a very different perspective.

My father gives proficient suggestions in legal fields as well. He being an IIMian, believes in talking systematically. He is very patient in carving out solutions to every problem. He used to tell me the time of his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. During his days of MBA, people were not very crazy about pursuing an MBA. But in his opinion doing MBA is the best opportunity to be a part of an institute like IIM Ahmedabad.

Comparison: (Winning Institution - IIM Ahmedabad)

  • Every college which is said to be one of the most reputed colleges may not provide the best in all the courses. In the same way, pursuing MBA from Aligarh Muslim University cannot be a good decision. AMU is best for many other courses but it’s a “Big No” for MBA.
  • If you are capable enough, then you must prepare to crack CAT and be a part of IIM Ahmedabad. MBA from IIM – A is a way better choice. The college has been producing better placement results for many years. They develop your management skills and prospers to bring out the best management skills in yourself.

The table below gives a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Particulars

IIM A

Aligarh Muslim University

Average CTC

INR 25-30 LPA

INR 6 LPA

Highest CTC

INR 74.62 LPA

INR 10 LPA

Ranking for MBA

1st by NIRF’20

45th by NIRF’20

If you are really devoted enough, you will definitely find IIM-A a great place to learn and grow.

MITS Gwalior is a better option for CS. Compared to UIT, it offers better academics and placements. Top recruiters for CS students through MITS Gwalior placement are Infosys, TCS Ninja, L&T Infotech, Lido Learning, etc. Around 75% of students get placed from the branch every year.
