How do I convert a GPA to a % in CUSAT?

RR
Ramesh Randhawa Posted On : February 6th, 2026

CGPA to percentage conversion varies by university—always use your institution's official formula.

Conversion methods:

  • Common Formula: Percentage = CGPA × 9.5 (widely used but not universal).
  • University-Specific: Some use CGPA × 10, CGPA × 9, or custom multipliers—verify officially.
  • Marksheet Reference: Recent marksheets often display both CGPA and percentage equivalents.
  • Official Certificate: For job applications or admissions, request university-issued conversion certificate.
  • Grade Point Scale: 10-point, 4-point, and 5-point scales use different conversion factors.

Check your university's examination section website for authorized conversion formulas. Avoid third-party converters—they may not match your university's method.

How good is CSE at NIT Jamshedpur?

MP
Mayank Patel Posted On : May 10th, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

I have a friend at NIT Jamshedpur, so I can give you a brief idea about the CSE department.

The placement of the CSE department in NIT Jamshedpur somehow reached some new highs over the last few years. Students from the CSE department have a placement average of around 95%.

Here’s a little highlight of the 2020 placement drive at the institute.

Average CTC

12 LPA

Highest CTC

30 LPA

Top Recruiters

TATA Powers, Deloitte, Amazon

Although if you are aspiring for an MS or MBA, then NIT Jamshedpur is probably not the best choice for you. You will get ample time during vacations to prepare but the environment of the institute is not ideal for the preparation of these examinations.

There are several groups of students, from the past few years, who have not qualified for examinations like these from the CSE department.

How is ICE at NIT Trichy?

RD
Raya Das Posted On : March 24th, 2021
B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

My brother is a recent graduate of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Trichy, so let me share some facts about its overall performance.

There are some pros and cons of the department which include:

Pros:

  1. Vibration control research in ICE at Nit Trichy is really good.
  2. Robotics, Control, and Electronics are also good for pursuing your graduate studies.
  3. Career/ Job aspects across a variety of profiles are accessible for ICE graduates in campus placements.
  4. Seniors help a lot with academics.
  5. You will be trained to work under pressure.
  6. Classrooms are neat and have a great environment. No uniform is required for entering the labs.

Categories

Course Fee

5.65 lakh

Placement Percentage

80-90%

Highest CTC

20 LPA

Average CTC

12 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Tech Mahindra, TCS, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, etc.

Cons:

  1. There are only 11 faculties in the department out of which only two faculties teach properly.
  2. Labs are not up-to-the-mark. Most of the electronics components don’t work properly. The guidance is inadequate.
  3. Assignments provide little help.
  4. Due to continuous fests in the college, it might be difficult to concentrate on your studies.
  5. Like every college, there should be 4 classes per week, but here in ICE, the faculty members tend to keep 6-8 classes per week with students attending the classes just for the attendance.
  6. Subjects like PDD, Engineering Mechanics, and Analytical Instrumentation are taken for granted.

If you are really interested in Instrumentation, only then you should join this department. Otherwise, join some other branch in NIT T so that you are able to learn something.

How do I prepare for BHU entrance for 3 yr LLB entrance exam?

RV
Rishabh Verma Posted On : November 18th, 2022
B.A.L.L.B. from Law School Banaras Hindu University (Graduated 2022)

The BHU entrance exam for 3 yr LLB is not necessarily very tough. But the pattern of the paper keeps changing so it’s highly unpredictable. Some tips that might help you prepare for the same are

  • GK- Almost 50% of the paper consists of GK and GS. For this, you have to go through GK statistics. Refer to Arihant Publications and Lucent for the same.

  • Maths- To prepare for this section, be well-versed with the Maths syllabus till class 10. Knowing the basics and solving problems quickly is the trick here.

  • Language- This section consists of 30 questions and is the easiest part. Your own command of whichever language you have chosen (English or Hindi) will help you score marks in this section.

  • Legal- The legal part is full of questions based on principles and facts. These can be practiced from the previous year's question papers.

These tips are more than enough to crack BHU entrance for 3 yr LLB.

How is CSE in NIT kurukshetra?

SB
Susmita Bose Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

Let me clarify the fact that NIT Kurukshetra has the CE or Computer Engineering branch and not CSE. While the former deals with hardware concepts the latter is all about software. The overall branch is decent but not at par with the IT or CSE branches of other institutes. The syllabus is somewhat outdated and so are the labs.

As far as the placements are concerned, the campus is visited by several IT companies like Directi, Amazon, Adobe, CDOT, etc Students often receive PPO and PPI from companies like Flookatt and Microsoft. The placement scenario is similar for IT as well.

Here are the detailed placement statistics:l

Eligible Students

92

Placement Offers

129

Students Placed

92

Placement %

100%

Range of Package

INR 6.25 LPA - INR 47.00 LPA

Median CTC

INR 16.65 LPA

Average CTC

INR 19. 81 LPA

One needs to maintain a CGPA of around 8.5+ to secure good packages in CE at NIT Kurukshetra. The institute organizes several fests to ensure extracurricular activities are also conducted. The tech-society TECHNOBYTE organizes a lot of events during fests. Additionally, the GAWDS is a group of web and graphic enthusiasts where you can learn about software development. Frequent workshops for competitive programming are held on campus by the seniors.

Overall, the CE branch at NT Kurukshetra is good with decent placements, hostel facilities, and crowd.

Are 3rd Generation IITs like IIT Tirupati worth people's time?

AS
Aishwarya Shastri Posted On : January 11th, 2024
Lives in Hyderabad

If someone has a passion for engineering, 3rd generation IITs are better than many non-IITs.

This is because the faculty of new IITs is as good as that in the old ones. There’s no compromise at all in the faculty selection process of any IIT. The professors are all genuine and certified experts in their respective fields.

When 2nd and 3rd gen IITs were created, the professors of old IITs were given the choice of continuing beyond retirement. This was done so that no IIT faces a shortage of faculty.

Though the new IITs can’t offer top notch facilities, the learning opportunities in them are good enough. But if packages and placements are talked about, then obviously they won’t be very high for IIT Tirupati in its formative years.

If you’re passionate about engineering, you should consider IIT Tirupati. With talent, skill and passion, you’ll easily land a decent job off campus.
