Is IBS Gurgaon a good college for MBA?

ST
Samyak Thakur Posted On : August 14th, 2020
IBS Gurgaon (2020)

First of all IBS Gurgaon does not provide an MBA degree, it provides three courses PGPM (Postgraduate Program in Management), BBA, Ph.D. it is a privately owned college not affiliated by UGC. Hence the college has no right to award an MBA degree instead of this it only awards a certificate of the postgraduate program in management.

Established

1995

State

Private

Course

MBA/PGPM

Admission Criteria

IBSAT/CAT/GMAT

Total Fee

8,00000

  • IBS Admissions Process:

Students are admitted to the MBA/PGPM programs through the IBSAT scores. It is an online test i.e., a computer-based examination with multiple-choice questions. The duration of the exam is two hours. The questions are posed in such a manner to test the quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, vocabulary, data adequacy, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension skills of the candidate.

  • Placement:

Placements here in MBA/PGPM were decent for the 2019 batch. The highest salary package offered was around 16 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 6-8 LPA. Various good companies of Gurugram and Big 4s visit the campus every year majorly for finance, marketing, and HR. Banks and Insurance companies also visit the college to hire students.

  • Fee:

The fee for MBA/PGPM is around 8 lakhs. This includes tuition and other fees for each semester. Nearly 4 lakhs per year. The charges of foreign tours are not included in this fee. We can submit the fee in 5 installments.

  • Faculty:

The faculties for MBA/PGPM are good and have great knowledge of their subjects. They are always ready to help. But there is less number of permanent faculty, most of the faculty is on a contract/outsourcing basis.

IBS enlarges the MBA/PGPM Program with soft skills which gives a unique opportunity for the students to develop, enhance their personality, and communication and presentation skills. In addition to the core and specialization courses offered in the MBA/PGPM Program, IBS offers a summer internship program that forms a unique component of education at IBS.

What are the best courses to take in IIM Ahmedabad?

PR
Parth Reddy Posted On : December 8th, 2023
Studied at IIM Ahmedabad

The best course that I took during my MBA at IIM Ahmedabad, was not at my college.

It was the double degree that I pursued from ESCP Paris. There I had the pleasure of learning Marketing of Innovation under Professor Boris Durischin. The marketing concepts I learnt from him helped me land a well paying job. Sir made learning very pleasurable. He is one of the best teachers that I studied under.

The courses that I learnt at IIMA, and found useful, are-

  1. Trading Strategies and Managing Financial Institutions- These two courses refreshed my concepts in Finance. MFI prepared me for BFSI and mid office IB roles. These courses are scoring as well.
  1. Business & Intellectual Property and Legal Aspects of Business- These two courses under Prof. Anurag Agarwal, are a one time experience. Sir’s way of teaching is unmatched. He only teaches important and relevant topics. These two courses groomed me as a business professional.

These are the courses that I found useful as an MBA student at IIM Ahmedabad.

What is the worst course you've taken or have heard of at IIT Delhi?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : April 1st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

In my opinion, the two worst courses one should refrain from ever taking in IIT Delhi are MCP 100 and MCP 101.

MCP 100: This course is Engineering Drawing and is one of the most irrelevant courses offered at IIT Delhi. It is taught by prof Sujeet Kumar Sinha who has no teaching skills and is always in a rush to complete the course. The entire syllabus is completed in just 2 months leaving no space to comprehend what was taught.

MCP 101: This course comprises concepts such as casting and welding which are not expected to be studied by an IITian at least.

Both the courses are a complete waste of time and don’t do justice to the institute's reputation.

How do I prepare for GATE Biotech?

SG
Sayantani Ghose Posted On : January 8th, 2021
M.Tech in smart manufacturing at IISc, Bangalore

Given below are a few important tips on how to prepare for GATE Biotech.

  • Start preparing by making a proper timetable of daily and monthly targets. There is a lot to prepare and if you are a fresher you will face difficulty in managing time with your regular studies. Most people 6 months or 1 year prior to the exam.
  • Make a copy of your syllabus and try to read the syllabus very well to get a clear idea about the curriculum of GATE. There will not be out of syllabus questions in GATE.
  • Try to solve the previous year's question paper at least twice. Figure out your mistakes and work on them.
  • The syllabus and previous year's paper are the most important for your whole preparation.
  • Try to complete the whole syllabus if you are strong with your concepts and confident enough, if not try to prepare those subjects in which you are confident but make sure not to skip the syllabus.
  • Read one particular book as too much material will consume a lot of your time and can create confusion. You can also refer to Google and YouTube to clear your concept.
  • Make short conceptual notes from the material that you read and revise daily whatever you read.
  • Complete the entire syllabus within the month of December, and in the month of January revise and solve as many mock test papers as possible.
  • Analyze the mistake you make in the mock and work on them

Finally, do not be afraid at the time of the exam. Treat It like any other test, solve the question that you get. Use the three hours of the exam properly. Only solve questions that you are sure of. Do not make answers based on a guess. All the best for your exam.

AS
Ashish Sethani Posted On : October 9th, 2023
MNIT Jaipur

MNIT Jaipur has one of the most beautiful campuses among all the NIT's in India. The campus is lush green surrounded by the mountain range of the Jhalana region. The institute has many state-of-the-art facilities that add to the quality of education

  • It has Asia's largest lecture theater called Vivekananda Lecture Theatre Complex(VLTC) which has lifts inside the lecture theater.
  • The campus has a canteen called Annapurna that serves delicacies at subsidized rates.
  • The lab facilities are again top-notch notch providing a decent platform for research work.
  • The hostel facilities are decent. The first-year students are allotted triple occupancy rooms but students get single rooms from the second year. The hostellers have access to free internet 24/7.
  • The mess charges high fees and the food served is just average.
  • Every hostel has a common room with a T.V. and T.T. boards.
  • The campus has decent sports facilities with one cricket and football playground, 3 volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, and a well-maintained gym.

How is life at nit srinagar?

PS
Prerona Sarkar Posted On : September 20th, 2023
B.Tech in EE from National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2018)

I have spent four years as a B.Tech student at NIT Srinagar. Here are a few things about life at my college-

  1. Srinagar is amazing. The weather remains cold for most part of the year, so you’ll forget what average Indian summers feel like.
  2. NIT campus is fully secured, and surrounded by Dal Lake.
  3. During winter, everything is covered in snow. It is an absolutely mesmerizing view.
  4. The hostels are clean and provided with all the facilities. 24*7 Wi-Fi facility is available. Mess is separate for each hostel, and the food is decent.
  5. Students depend mostly on self-studies.
  6. Students are sent by the college to other Indian cities (for example, Ghaziabad) for industrial training purposes.
  7. You will be provided with decent sports and gym facilities. There are college clubs which you can join. The IIED Center offers opportunities for self-exploration.
  8. The placements are good, especially for CSE/IT. ECE, Mechanical, and CIV also enjoy good placements. Non-CSE/IT students usually sit for GATE or other competitive exams and perform well in them.

NIT Srinagar is a wonderful college that offers a one-in-a-kind experience.

How is the hostel life of DTU?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 4th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

DTU hostel life is like any other college. My friend was allotted a room in the Type 3 girls hostel and this is what her hostel building looked like:

Delhi Technology University

Here is what her room looked like

Delhi Technology University

The hostel life is pretty disciplined here and girls are expected to get back to their rooms by 11 PM. The attendant keeps track of the student's attendance and locks the main building door to ensure no one gets out. Boys on the other hand get a lot of freedom and can roam around the campus even at 2 in the morning. Midnight cravings can be taken care of by Micmac which stays open till around 2 AM. This is what the DTU campus looks like at night.

Delhi Technology University

The campus is well-secured and guards are on duty throughout the night. The hostels are situated near the academic block and you can reach the classes within a few minutes.

Overall, the hostel life at DTU is pretty vibrant and you make a lot of memories here.

What is your review of NIT, Durgapur?

SD
Shivani Das Posted On : September 6th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2019)

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

  • Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
  • Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
  • Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
  • Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
  • Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
  • Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
  • Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.

Overall, NIT Durgapur is a great place if you are unable to make it to IITs.
