Placements:

UEC provides moderate placement to the students. Many companies visit the college but mostly CSE and ECE students get the most placement with an average salary of INR 4 LPA.

Admission-

To be eligible for admission, students are expected to have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% along with their JEE Main score.

• For NIT Agartala, for programs like B.Tech, the total fees are in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 6 lakhs.

• At NIT Nagaland, the total fees for programs like B.Tech lie in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 4 lakhs respectively.

JEE Main cutoff 2019 -

• NIT Agartala - For the PE branch it was 28827 and 33637 as the opening and closing rank respectively for the General category. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 2763 and 11083 respectively.

• NIT Nagaland - For the ME branch it was 27146 and 29838 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 1896 and 7826 respectively for students from other states.

Placement -

• For NIT Agartala, the median CTC was Rs. 5.5 LPA and saw 188 students being placed overall. The highest offered CTC was from Works Applications.

• For NIT Nagaland, Allstate, Power Grid, Lakshaya, Vedanta, L&T, Toppers, Mphasis, were the top recruiters.

• The major recruiters for NIT Agartala were L&T Infotech, Vedanta, Future Group, Havells, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Samsung.

For the year 2019, the placement details for the two institutes are as follows.

• NIT Nagaland conducted the 2019 placement drive wherein 22 students were recruited from various departments. The highest CTC worth Rs. 10.5 LPA was offered by Allstate.

• At NIT Agartala, the total no. of offers to PE students was 11.

LPU-

• At LPU any B. Tech at Mechanical Engineering aspirants must have at least 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and English or, any subject that is equivalent to qualifying LPUNEST.

• For students, those who have secured 90% in 10+2 or 90 percentile in JEE Mains are exempted from LPUNEST and can directly apply for the admission.

Sharda University-

• In the case of Sharda University, Mechanical engineering aspirants must have at least 60% aggregate in 10+2 in physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

• SUAT, JEE Main, or UPSEE scores are considered for BTech admission at Sharda University.

At Sharda University fees for B. Tech courses are ?1.59 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) whereas, at LPU the fees for B. Tech programs are ?1.37 Lakhs (1st Year Fees).

Placement:

Sharda University-

• For B. Tech programs at Sharda university the placement record was 91%.

• In last year’s placements, the institute witnessed the highest salary package of 65 LPA

LPU-

• At LPU the highest salary package offered was 42 LPA.

IIT Tirupati, an autonomous engineering and technology education institute that gives a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) Civil Engineering program. Admission to the B. Tech program is through the Joint entrance examination (IIT-JEE-Advanced). It was ranked 25 for Engineering by JEE cutoff 2019.

NIT Calicut is a public technical university ranked 23rd for B. Tech and is one among the National Institutes of Technology campuses. The Institute offers a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Master of Technology (M. Tech), and Ph.D. Courses in various specializations for Mechanical Engineering.

Eligibility:

IIT Tirupati:

• 10+2 or Diploma (10+3) qualified students from a recognized board, with a minimum of 75% with Physics, Chemistry, and Math.

• Students applying must qualify for JEE Advanced.

NIT Calicut:

• 10+2 passed from a recognized board, with Physics and Maths as main subjects.

• Students applying must qualify for JEE Main and Advance.

Placements:

IIT Tirupati:

• As of the 2019 stats, 70 out of 90 registered students were placed in reputed companies with an average package of 9.18 LPA and the highest packages offered was 22 LPA

• For the Civil department, the average package was 5.5 LPA.

NIT Calicut:

• 647 students from the UG, PG, got successfully placed for various job profiles with the highest package of INR. 49.75 LPA and the average CTC offered was INR. 11.58 LPA.

• Around 133 companies visited the campus and the placement percentage was 73.55 according to 2020 stats.

BMS College of Engineering(BMSCE) and People Education Society University(PES) in Bengaluru, offers UG, PG, and Doctoral programs in the streams of Engineering, Management, Architecture, and many more. According to NIRF Engineering ranking 2020, BMSCE stands at 69th position whereas PES stands at 93rd position. In the recent placement, a total of 948 offers were made to the students of BMSCE and 851 job offers at PSE university.

Admission:

BMS College of Engineering

• The admission process for BMSCE commences in the month of February, and for BTech students need to apply online for COMEDK. The application fee is INR 1600.
• The total seat intake is 1380.
• Admission for MTech and MArch at BMSCE commences in the month of January. Students need to apply online for the PGCET entrance exam.

PES University

• Admission to all the BTech courses at PES is done through PESSAT/CET examination.
• The total seat intake is 1320.
• Other exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, CMAT are also considered at PES University. The application fee is INR 1050.

Faculty:

• PES University: A good number of faculty are present at PES including professors, assistant professors, Head of the department, and a lot more. All of them are highly experienced and some have graduated from IITs, NITs.
• BMS College of Engineering: A total of 29 research faculties are present at BMSCE, which includes professors, assistant professors, Head of Department, and a lot more.

Course Fees:

• The total BTech course fee at BMSCE is INR 9.16 lakh, on the other hand, INR 13.2 lakh at PES university.
• Students have to pay a total of INR 3.4 lakhs at PES, whereas around INR 60,000 at BMSCE.
• The fee structure of PES is a bit higher than BMSCE.

Placement:

• A total of 948 offers were made for UG students at BMSCE. Total of 1034 students registered for the placement activities. More than 200 companies visited, and the highest package offered was INR 6 LPA.
• In 2019, a total of 851 job offers were made to the students at PES and the highest package offered was INR 48 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Deloitte, Flipkart.

Both colleges offer scholarships and internship facilities to their students. Good exposure is given to research and development. Students can join any one of them depending on their budget, cut-off rank, area of interest, and location.

First of all, it depends on your interest whether you want to pursue engineering in Mechanical or Civil, and only then you can decide the better college. As the engineering branches are different it’s difficult to pick one college over the other.

Comparing the two courses in terms of placements offered last year, we see 83% of the Mechanical branch students got placed in IIT Bhubaneswar with average CTC 11.4 LPA. 77% of the Civil students in IITG got placed last year. The average package offered in IIT Guwahati was around 11 LPA while the highest went up to 39 LPA.

Being the older IIT, the infrastructure of IITG is good and the placements for both the core as well as the non-core sectors are also quite good. IIT Bhubaneswar has been showing good numbers in recent years and is developing gradually.

You can also look for some other options for mechanical other than IIT Bhubaneswar. If you manage to get a good score in Mains, you can look for admission in old NIT where you will get better future opportunities also good placement packages. While IIT Guwahati being an older institute is expected to attract many of the major recruiters from all the sectors and provide good CTC.

So, choose the college based on your branch of interest.
