You will be able to change branches in Heritage Institute of Technology if you have a GPA of 8.5. It is very easy to score a GPA of 8.5 or above in the first year as all you will be studying is the basics.
There is also not much competition when it comes to changing to Mechanical as it is not that difficult. However, it is more difficult to change branches like CS to ECE.
Even if your CGPA is average, you can apply for the change in the branch. You will most likely be able to get your branch changed.

Mechanical engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the best branches to study. Last year in 2019, the placement in this branch from this institute was 85%. Apart from this, the institute also started dual degree programs in Mechanical engineering apart from the four-year Btech course.
The IIT Bhubaneswar has the best faculty in mechanical engineering with most of them being from IIT Kharagpur. From the very beginning of 1st year, the IIT Bhubaneswar provides an opportunity for the students to work on their projects by giving them access to DIC (Design Innovation Centre).
I have completed my BTech in Mechanical from LPU in 2021. The few things that worked for me and proved that LPU was a great choice included reasons like placements, syllabus, faculty, ranking, accreditations and more. I have listed some of them down for your reference.LPU is one of the top universities in India and offers great training in this area. It is easy to find employment as well through campus placements which makes it a good choice. Several top companies visit LPU during the placement season. During my placements, tech giants such as TCS, IBM, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc offered job opportunities to us. LPU also collaborates with companies to offer hands-on training and projects to focus on the practical aspect of studies. The collaborations also helped us to secure job placements as mechanical engineering graduates.
Apart from the placements, the updated curriculum is also a great advantage. LPU students also have all the facilities at one place. You can enroll for extracurricular activities such as swimming, take part in competitions or societies, and cultural events. The hostel is fully equipped as well and there is a gym too. Modern labs, extensive libraries, and advanced infrastructure along with a knowledgable faculty was also something that gave LPU an edge.In conclusion, Lovely Professional University stands out as a great choice if you want to pursue mechanical engineering.
In the present scenario, EEE is a better choice as compared to Mechanical. Moreover, BITS Hyderabad is better than IIT Tirupati in various aspects.
The average package for B.Tech Mechanical at IIT Tirupati is 12.30 LPA (for 2023 placements, as of now). The average package for B.Tech EEE at BITS Hyderabad goes higher than that. Moreover, some companies may offer less packages to IIT Tirupati graduates in comparison to BITS graduates, for the same role.
BITS Hyderabad has a better campus in comparison to IIT Tirupati. The college culture and life is richer at BITS Hyderabad, and even its coding culture is better. You can check the worldwide GSoC college-wise selections. Hyderabad city has ample career opportunities, much more than Tirupati. The startup and entrepreneurial culture of BITS Hyderabad is top notch.
The students of BITS Hyderabad and Goa get the BITS Pilani tag on their degrees, without any mention of their actual campuses. On the other hand, the ‘IIT tag’ holds significance only for the students of the 7 old IITs. BITS campuses follow 0% attendance requirement policy and MIT pedagogy, while IIT Tirupati follows a strict attendance criteria and IITR pedagogy).
Based on these factors, and many others, I would suggest you to opt for BITS Hyderabad ECE/EEE over a core branch in any of the 2nd or 3rd gen IITs.
