Many people consider DU as a better option especially if it’s any of the top 3-4 colleges. Yet I chose IIM Rohtak. Now I am going to list down reasons why one should choose DU or IIM Rohtak separately
Why one should go for DU
Why one should go for IIM Rohtak
Now on the basis of the above points, you can make a decision that suits you the best.
IIM Rohtak has already started a 5-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) in 2019. It is similar to the IPM program started by IIM Indore earlier.
There are some minor differences between the two as well such as the minimum percentage required by the student to be eligible for admission in the course. IIM Rohtak has mandated that a student should secure at least 75% in both 10th and 12th to be eligible to apply for this course.
The number of seats offered by the institute is 160. Undergraduate education in management is not very well promoted in India and hopefully, with IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, and many more to possibly follow suit, the undergraduate management education will also receive the same glory as MBAs.
KIIT School of Management is a very famous and reputed business management school in our country. Many students across the country apply for admission and for that all of them are required to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the college and pass it successfully.
The entrance is relatively easier when compared to the entrance exams of other business schools. The reason behind it is the amount of time you get when you appear for the exams.
You will get 3 hours and within that time period, you will have to solve 120 questions which is not a difficult task. All the sections in the question paper are moderate.
But you should really work on some chapters like Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Time and Speed, Simple and Compound Interest, etc., and also improve the vocabulary. You will be easily able to clear the exam if your aptitude is good as it is an important part to clear the exam.
Any institute will help you with an arrangement of opportunities, may even get you a job in Finance or Management but it will be your decision, whether you'd want to pursue other interests or be in the job available.
The package offered by IPM would definitely be lower than the one offered by the Engineering+MBA (IIM) program. It will nevertheless give you entrepreneurial skills that can be used if you'd like to and create your own empire.
Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology. But he has made his future. So don't worry, just be strategic and utilize your resources.
Indian Institute of Management, Indore offers an Integrated Program in Management (IPM).
This is not just a general BBA program. It is an integrated program as the name already suggests. It has a very well-organized course curriculum. The level of exposure you will be getting at IIM Indore is much better than you can find at any other institute. Speaking of Symbiosis, it does not offer as much versatility and exposure as compared to IIM Indore, there will be huge differences in their course curriculum and teaching style.
The IPM program at IIM Indore has a 3-year BBA program and a 2-year MBA program. The first three years of the IPM program are being taught separately. The faculties are very knowledgeable and supportive. The remaining two years are merged with the flagship Post-graduation program.
So, IPM from IIM Indore is definitely better than a BBA from Symbiosis.
My colleague wrote the IPMAT back in 2013. It was one of the safe options for her, as she was preparing for law. The exam was to be held within 2 days of a major law exam. You can easily prepare for the exam in 2-3 days.
You can go through the sample papers and previous years’ papers to understand the pattern. Management exams are all about functioning with common sense and the IPM entrance exam tests just that. You can prepare with ease simply by revising what you've prepared in the last 6 months.
I’ve had the opportunity to visit IIM Kozhikode, IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad for various competitions. While at these institutes, I interacted with many students. Some of them were from Economics background, and one had even completed her graduation in Philosophy.
Students from all these backgrounds, including BBS/BMS enjoy the diversity factor. This gives them an upper hand in the selection process over Engineers. But to enjoy this benefit, one must have a good CAT score, and a good academic record.
Prepare well for your CAT, and make sure you have a good academic record. If you fulfill these criteria, you’ll get into IIM Ahmedabad, regardless of your educational background.
Also, make sure to prepare well for the quant section of CAT. This is where the engineering students outdo the candidates from other academic backgrounds.
You have a fairly good chance of getting into IIM Rohtak. If seats are available, you will be notified of your selection. After the JEE mains, many students who were admitted to IIM Rohtak will choose to study at an NIT or IIT, which acts as an opportunity for you.
There are also 40 seats reserved for the students belonging to OBC Category. Therefore, there is a high chance that you will get admitted to IIM Rohtak. Just be patient and do not miss any notification that is being updated on the official website.
