All NITs are well-reputed institutes that ensure quality education in India. Let us look into the features of NITs in detail.

Daily Life – All the NITs follow the same system, and there is no significant difference between them. The classes begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., with a one-hour break in the afternoon. Like other colleges, regular classes are conducted five days a week, and on the weekends, students can take part in extracurricular activities. They also provide decent hostel facilities for the students

Ragging – It is strictly prohibited in all the NITs. Instead, there are state-wise groups of students that give students a chance to interact with the seniors.

Food – NIT Trichy is more into south Indian dishes, while other NITs have both south Indian and North Indian food.

Faculty and Placement – NITs have well-qualified scholars and guarantee 100% placement to the students, irrespective of the branches.

So, you can select any of the NITs based on your preference

How is the placement at IIT Kanpur for an M.Tech in RF and microwave?

SN
Saugata Nayak Posted On : April 22nd, 2023
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (2020)

Mtech in RF and Microwave at IIT Kanpur has excellent placement scenarios with a placement percentage of 100%.

The Electrical Engineering department of IIT Kanpur is second only to the CS department and offers the best job opportunities. Irrespective of your branch, you are likely to get placed in a good company with a decent package.

Talking specifically about RF, students receive offers from highly reputed semiconductor companies in India like Intel, Qualcomm, STMicroelectronics, Samsung Semiconductor, etc. Additionally, there are many other recruiters like General Electric, Siemens, Boeing

Securing a core job, however, might be a bit difficult but not completely impossible. Some companies that offer core jobs are Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Siemens, etc. Usually, the average CTC is in the range of INR 13–15 LPA. The majority of the batch received packages above 15 LPA.

Unlike the general opinion that VLSI is the best branch, I would conclude that RF is one of the best branches provided that you have a genuine interest in it.

How is Mtech in IIT Delhi compared to Mtech in IISC Banglore in Computer Science?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : April 5th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

One of my friends had both options, MTech in IIT Delhi and MTech in IISc Bangalore, however, despite his hailing from Delhi, he chose IISc Bangalore over IIT Delhi. Some strong reasons which influenced his decision were

  • The Institute has excellent research facilities and approaches second to no other engineering Institute in India.
  • IISc Bangalore does not have a BTech program and thus the entire focus of the faculty resources, education, and resources are invested in the Master's program unlike IIT Delhi, where BTech is given more importance.
  • IIT Delhi has a higher intake of UG students than PG students and they are given more preferences and attention than UG students.
  • Being situated in Bangalore, the IT hub of India IISC has close ties with IT companies visiting frequently for some or other events or technical competitions
  • Most GATE toppers prefer IISc or IIT Bombay over IIT Delhi and so do the companies offering placements.
  • The overall ambiance of campus life is more tranquil in IISc Bangalore than in IIT Delhi which is an overly populated and polluted city.
  • IISc is being recognized by foreign universities and one can pursue their Ph.D. with a degree from IISc.

All these pointers strongly inclined my friend towards IISc and he eventually completed his MTech from there.

Do all M.Tech students in the IIIT Bangalore get a stipend?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : October 9th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

IIIT Bangalore, although approved by AICTE, does not offer any stipend to its MTech students. However, there are a few companies that sponsor students' tuition fees based on merit. This is done either by conducting an exam or by someone based on their previous academic profile. The number of students who can avail of this opportunity is very limited and sometimes there is a clause requiring them to work as an intern or do some projects for the company that offered the scholarship. Students receive a stipend if they are a TA or RA.

Hope this helps you!
