Hostel life at IIT Bhubaneswar is comfortable and student-oriented, especially if you’re someone who enjoys privacy and decent facilities. Every student gets a single room—furnished with a bed, table, chair, cupboard, and often a balcony. You’ll find washing machines, geysers, water coolers, Wi-Fi, common rooms, and sports facilities in every hall.
The mess has 4 meals a day, and though the food is good enough (with both South and North Indian dishes), there's a night canteen and cafés within walking distance if you need a change.
There are no rigid hostel timings, so you'll have freedom. The hall council, run by the students, keeps things happening with fests, sports tournaments, and cultural events.
Hostel and mess charges are between 10,000 and 18,000 per semester, which is fairly reasonable for the facilities that are being offered. The atmosphere as a whole is warm, relaxed, and supportive, and it's a nice balance of study and campus life.
IIT Bhubaneswar has been ranked as 56th in the NIRF’s list of top colleges for Ph.D. The overall NIRF ranking of the college, however, is 22 among all the engineering colleges in India. To apply for the Ph.D. courses in IIT Bhubaneswar, one has to go through the GATE entrance examination or have secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF score. Facilities for the Ph.D. courses are quite good at IIT Bhubaneswar, the fee structure has been increased but is feasible and around Rs 36.09 year.
The course structure in Physics consists of fundamental subjects like Experimental Atomic-Molecular-Surface Physics, Modeling of Biological Systems, Biophysics, and Quantum Field Theory among others.
While looking at the overall placement rate of the college, which is 89.5% in the year 2018-19, IIT Bhubaneswar is a pretty good option, with better prospects and average CTC of Rs 11.4 Lakhs.
The college has also been accredited to the Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) Scheme, which was designed by the Government of India to improve the quality of research, which is a plus point for those who wish to pursue Ph.D. in any subject.
In my opinion, ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar is better than CSE at NITK.
Both NITK and IIT Bhubaneswar are famous for offering excellent academic courses in Engineering, However, I can guide you about electronics and communication from IIT Bhubaneswar.
the faculty to student ratio is around 1/10. They are approacheble ..one can meet them during office hours in their cabin. they are mostly supportive but are strict about deadlines , assignments, attendance. there are actually too many exams and its difficult to manage everything along with personal develpoment. Overall it is too much hectic
hostel is good tbh. It is mostly clean you get single occupancy room and do naughty things all alone. We get a bed a table and an almirah along with fan and light in the hostel room ....the mess food is the worts that one can imagine...nothing tastes good ...they forget to add salt in food
