How much are the packages offered in the electrical branch at IIT Delhi?
I am the right person who can answer this question because my brother recently completed his BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He revealed the actual side of the placements in Electrical, the side that no media covers and is the dark reality.
Indeed there are packages as high as INR 70 LPA, but these opportunities are outside India in countries like Singapore, South Korea, the US or the UK. Other core jobs offered to Electrical students are limited to India and are very few with average packages.
The only perk of being a student of this branch is that it is a general branch covering diverse sectors and you are open to sitting for placements in all sectors be it Finance, Consultancy, Core, Coding, or Data Science. Electrical Engineering is a generalized and vast branch. However, the packages for these are mediocre with the highest around 25 LPA (CTC). The in-hand salary is much lower.
The companies offering the highest packages in India include
- Samsung
- Goldman Sachs
- Tower Research Capital
- Quadeye
Other companies offer average packages in the range of 15-16 LPA only.
How many marks should I score to get AIIMS Jodhpur?
AIIMS Jodhpur cutoff rank is 786 for general category students. But there is no fixed cutoff for the institute. The required cutoff varies each year depending on factors such as the difficulty level of the question paper, number of students applying. So, try to give your best in the examination.
If I am interested in mechanical engineering, which is better, COEP, the College of Engineering Pune, or VJTI in Mumbai, and are they both comparable to VNIT in Nagpur?
As a student you should check the following areas and take them into consideration while choosing a particular institution.
Research- VNIT, and COEP beats VJTI in these criteria. Students can do research here under college professors on winter vacations.
Placements-
- VNIT provides unpaid internships to students through the alumni association.
- IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT.
- However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT.

Campus Life-
- VNIT is best in terms of campus life. There are ample hostel facilities for the students.
- Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India.
- There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students.
Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular.
Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP.
Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.
How is BIMTECH Noida for an MBA?
If your CAT percentile is between 80 and 90, BIMTECH is a good option to consider. The campus is vast, with all modern amenities, and the faculty is excellent. However, when it comes to placement, PGDM and PGDM - Insurance students receive the highest number of offers.
If you want to study International Business or Retail Management, look into their most recent placement records and make an informed decision.
How is ECE at IIIT Allahabad? How are the placements?
IIT Allahabad is an excellent place for students looking for a well-rounded degree course in ECE. Here are some persuasive highlights that make it an attractive choice:

Some colleges like ISB, BITS Pilani, XLRI, SPJAIN, etc. do not have a caste-based reservation. Is it not mandatory for all colleges in India?

What is the salary of an IES officer in the Indian Railways?
The salary of an IES officer in Indian Railways increases with time. The net basic pay scale is different at various levels, and there is a list of other allowances that comes with the salary.
At present, an IES officer (IRSEE) with 20 years of service experience earns around 1.60 lakhs per month plus accommodation and transportation.

- The other allowances that an IES officer gets are House Rent Allowance (HRA), Office Vehicle, Dearness Allowance (DA), Leave Travel Allowance (LTA), Gratuity, Provident Fund (PF), Leave Encashment, Peon, Driver, Domestic servant, and Personal Assistant. All these allowances vary as per three classes of cities: A, B, & C.
- The gross salary of IES at the beginning is around 60000 INR, but the in-hand pay is around 45000-50000 INR with other non-cash allowances. Gradually, it increases with time and promotes job positions.
- The salary in the first 5 to 10 years of a job may not be lucrative like IAS, but after 20 years, the salary is almost at par with IAS or IPS.
Compared to IES, software engineers with the same years of experience earn a lot more. The payscale is even higher for IIT, IIM graduates. A CSE graduate from IIT after 20 years of experience earns at least 30-40 LPA (plus onsite opportunities).
Students from IITs may not have job satisfaction from IES engineering posts. Students from the Civil branch can go for IES jobs. But if you are from ECE/EEE/Mechanical try to avoid IES engineering jobs.
Is branch sliding option there at MNNIT Allahabad?
MNNIT Allahabad has a branch sliding option at the end of the first year. But it comes with its own set of challenges. Here are the key requirements in a nutshell:
- Eligibility: To apply for branch sliding, you need a CPI of at least 7.5.
- Competition: Brace yourself for some fierce competition. With just a handful of seats available in each branch and a whopping 90% of students applying, it's like JEE Main all over again.

- Catch-Up Game: So, you'll need to be a master at catching up. You'll join a new branch and realize that you've got some ground to cover.

- IIT Madras is located in Adyar, which is easily accessible from the airport and Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations.
- Chennai has plenty of sightseeing options, particularly its beaches, like Marina and Elliott, as well as nearby tourist locations like Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry.
- However, Chennai's climate can be described as hot and humid throughout the year, with only slight variations in temperature between the three seasons. Mumbai, in comparison, has a cool breeze across the beachside in the evenings to cool you down.
- Language could be a barrier in Chennai, although many non-Tamilians have settled here, and you can manage with a working knowledge of English.
- Finally, IIT Madras consistently ranks at the top in the NIRF rankings for back-to-back years, which is a testament to its research facilities, faculty, and infrastructure.
Overall, while Chennai has some concerns, it is by no means an inferior option compared to other cities, and IIT Madras could be an excellent choice for you.
How is the placements in IIT Gandhinagar?
IIT Gandhinagar should be your last choice if you are willing to get placed in MNCs, the Private sector, or even PSUs. In IIT Gandhinagar Placements 2023, around 164 students sat for placements out of which 125 were placed. The placement percentage dropped from 92% to 76.22%.

The students who receive foreign internships have no will to pursue higher studies. The placements are pathetic in the sense that even students with a CPI of greater than 8.5 get placed in companies that an average college student would get easily. Overall, IIT Gandhinagar is too focused on placements and does not encourage preparing for competitive exams.
