What is the total approx fees of DTU for BA (Hons.) Economics??

B
BananaRepublicRat Posted On : April 1st, 2026

For DTU's BA (Hons.) Economics, the overall fee is about 3 lakh across three years. The breakdown is around 90,000 for the first two years and then 1 lakh for the last year. I find the fees to be higher than some other colleges in Delhi, but the quality of education and faculty makes a difference. Plus, there are scholarship options available, though they’re limited.

The BA program at DTU typically includes six semesters. I’m in my second year now, and I feel like the structure really allows us to dive deep into subjects like economics and history, which I love. Each semester lasts about 4-5 months, and the pace keeps us engaged.

What is the placement rate at DTU? Do good companies hire from here??

S
SilentSprite Posted On : March 30th, 2026

I’m currently studying at DTU, and the placement scene is a mixed bag. About 20-25% of students get placed, and some well-known companies like Bajaj and Byjus visit for placements. The highest package I’ve heard of is 13 LPA, but the average is closer to 5 LPA. Most companies that come here are in the startup space, offering roles in marketing, finance, and data analysis. I’m in my final year, so I’m focusing on my MBA plans, but it’s good to know that there are companies willing to hire from DTU.

How is the BA at DTU? What are the placement opportunities and rankings for this branch??

D
DilapidatedLaurel Posted On : March 28th, 2026

I joined the BA program at DTU mainly because it’s one of the reputed colleges in Delhi, and I wanted to dive deeper into economics and history. The teachers are mostly experienced, especially the guest faculty. When it comes to placements, it’s a mixed bag. Companies like PROBO and Mckinley Rise are offering internships, but the placement replies can be a bit delayed, especially from big companies. The highest package was 13 LPA, which sounds impressive, but the average is around 5 LPA, so keep that in mind. Overall, I think this course sets a good foundation if you’re looking to pursue an MBA later.

Is it worth doing a BA (Hons.) Economics from DTU or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far

BA Economics Honours is one of the newest courses offered by Delhi Technological University under the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME), alongside BBA and MBA, at the new campus in Vivek Vihar Phase 2. It was inaugurated in 2017. Speaking of the faculty for BA Economics Honours, it is overall quite good. Several professors at DTU come from esteemed colleges of DU. Notably, there is a retired Dean from DSE teaching Micro and Macro Economics to first-year students. DTU has hired professors with extensive experience at DU or those who are academically strong. The curriculum aligns with what DU or IP University offers. Elective subjects are chosen by the faculty with input from students for each semester. Regarding attendance, students are required to maintain a minimum of 75%. As mentioned, this is a new campus, and the college is still undergoing renovations, but it is expanding rapidly. The main building will be operational starting this session. The fee structure for the course is as follows: 73,000 (1st year), 82,000 (2nd year), and 90,000 (3rd year). Honestly, it seems that since it has...

Is it worth doing an BA at DTU if my main goal is to land a high-paying job??

V
VelvetHapless Posted On : March 24th, 2026

Honestly, pursuing a BA at DTU can be a mixed bag if your main aim is a high-paying job. While the curriculum is decent and the faculty includes experienced guest lecturers, the placement statistics aren’t super encouraging. Only about 20-25% of us get placed, and the average package is around 5 LPA, with the highest being 13 LPA. If you're thinking about a high salary right after graduation, it might be better to consider other options or aim for an MBA later, which is my plan too.

DTU is one of the top engineering colleges in India, and calling its placement decent would be an understatement! Being located in the capital city, this institution boasts some of the best placement opportunities in the country.

Major recruiters include:

  • Microsoft
  • DirectI
  • Amazon
  • Samsung
  • BCG
  • Bain
  • Big 4
  • Works Applications
  • Daikin Belgium
  • Maruti
  • Texas Instruments
  • Qualcomm

The list goes on! In recent years, even PSUs have started participating in placement drives. Companies like IOCL, BHEL, and HPCL have visited the campus.

While I don't have the exact figures or salaries offered, you can definitely expect competitive salaries from these MNCs. The hard truth is that securing a position in any particular company will depend on the skills you acquire during your four years at college. If you develop the right skills, you will surely find a way!

Does DTU give CPI or aggregate in BA at the end?

R
RadiantHullabaloo Posted On : March 22nd, 2026

At DTU, we get the CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) for our BA course. It’s a bit different from aggregate marks, which I found interesting. The CPI reflects our overall performance throughout the semesters, and it’s calculated based on our grades in all subjects. I’m currently in my second year, and the grading system helps me understand where I stand compared to my peers.
