Is it wise to prepare for the ISI Kolkata B.Stat entrance exam instead of IIT?

SR
Shrayanshi Roy Posted On : September 15th, 2021
Studied at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata

Taking a course at IIT is just as difficult and demanding as pursuing a B.Stat course at ISI. They are whatever you choose to do with your life, whether you like mathematics/statistics enough to spend three years learning statistics (and a little math) and statistics solely at ISI, or you believe you are skilled in another subject that has a good course at one of the numerous IITs.

It depends totally on where you want to be. Furthermore, even if you prepare for college X, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. As a result, keeping colleges Y and Z in mind as a backup is always a good idea.

Only you can decide which option is preferable for you and what you want.

Which is a better choice- Ashoka University B.Sc Economics and Finance or NMIMS Mumbai BSc Finance?

AD
Anuraag Das Posted On : April 29th, 2023
Studied at MBA from NMIMS (2020)

Ashoka University and NMIMS Mumbai have excellent economics and finance programs. Before choosing, evaluate the differences between the two.

Ashoka University is a young institution known for its creative and multidisciplinary curriculum. Its BSc Economics and Finance program teaches students economic theory, financial markets, and quantitative and analytical abilities. The program emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving, which are useful in many occupations.

However, NMIMS Mumbai has long offered undergraduate finance programs. Its BSc Finance program teaches students about financial markets, investment analysis, and corporate finance, as well as how to flourish in these disciplines. Internships and industry projects emphasize experiential learning.

Ashoka University or NMIMS Mumbai depends on your job goals and preferences. Ashoka University offers a more multidisciplinary and innovative education. NMIMS Mumbai is great for practical skills and industrial exposure.

NMIMS B.Sc Finance could be better for the following reasons:

  • Older Institutions than Ashoka
  • Great Placements because of being in the Financial capital of India
  • Better Return on Investment

Which course should I choose if I get a chance to study at ISI Kolkata, a B.Math or a B.Stat?

AS
Aniket Sinha Posted On : October 7th, 2021
Studied MS(QMS) from Indian Statistical Institute (2018)

Both B.Stat and B.Math are different courses being offered at different campuses at ISI Kolkata and ISI Bangalore respectively. There are only a few common subjects in both courses.

The choice ultimately depends on your choice and interest. You can go through the syllabus of both courses and understand the topics. Find whichever interests you, you can choose to be research-oriented like B.math students or go for M.stat or other courses, if you choose so.

You can apply for only 1 course because the institute conducts the entrance of both courses at the same time and day. You will be able to appear for only one of them.

What is better, B.Sc. finance from NMIMS or CA?

PS
Prateek Sinha Posted On : August 2nd, 2022
B.Sc. Finance, SVKM's NMIMS (2020)

Pursuing a CA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is better than a BSc in Finance from NMIMS or any other institute. A professional degree has greater importance than any graduate degree. The career prospects after CA are certainly better than B.Sc in Finance.

AM
Ahona Mahapatra Posted On : June 25th, 2024
Studies at IIT Bhubaneswar

ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar and CSE at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus both are good options for you to choose from. However, your choice majorly depends on factors like career goals and personal preference. If you ask me I can say choosing ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar is a better choice as IIT Bhubaneswar has high standards for academic curriculums. IIT Bhubaneswar is recognized for its excellent academic structure, highly qualified faculty members, and excellent facilities for research work. IIT Bhubaneswar offers undergraduate and Postgraduate programs for ECE. The average course fee for the four years of BTech in ECE from IIT Bhubaneswar is around INR 17.6 Lakhs. The placement scenario for the ECE branch at IIT Bhubaneswar is good with 90.91% of students placed in the placement drive with top recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, and more. The highest package is INR 44.62 LPA and the average is INR 22.85 LPA for the year 2023.

How good is the B.Stat course at ISI Kolkata?

DM
Deepika Mitra Posted On : May 5th, 2022
studied at ISI Kolkata

ISI Kolkata B.Stat can be an ideal fit for you, if you are interested in Mathematics and Statistics.

However, in terms of placements, doing just a B.Stat isn’t enough. Recruiting companies rarely employ students with just a B.Stat degree. If you want good placement packages do an M.Stat from ISI or a foreign university. After completing M.Stat, students usually receive an average CTC of around INR 19 LPA.

What is the difference between a BSc (Hons) from Delhi University and a BSc (Hons) from Doon University?

Delhi University is a central university. It is more sought after. A degree from DU will be more recognized around the world. Academics, student crowd, faculty, and resources, are definitely better at DU. As a student of DU you will also have a locational advantage. There are many good coaching centers available for Govt. competitive examinations such as UPSC, SSC, CDS, etc.

How is the IIT Madras BSc Data Science and Programming course? Can it be compared with BSc Computer Science?

SD
Shweta Das Posted On : July 22nd, 2021
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (2019)

As you can see, both these courses are incredibly different, even if you just base it on their names.

Data science will need some knowledge of computer science but it does not completely entail computer science. It will also need you to know about machine learning, statistics, and mathematics.

Both these subjects are vastly different. With the increasing need for data scientists around the world, institutes have been compelled to provide this course be it online or offline.

My advice to you would be to do your research before you decide to enroll in either of these courses.
