What is your review of Andhra University?

IV
Ishaan Vasisth, Posted On : October 19th, 2021
M.Tech Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2019)

One of my friends graduated from Andhra University. According to him, it is very reputed among students as well as professionals. But like every other institution, it also has its fair share of positives and negatives. Let me share them with you which you can analyze later on.

Pros:

  • It is one of the oldest universities in the country, hence has a great alumni network.
  • The student intake in each department is 30-60, which benefits the student-teacher interaction.
  • Each department has its own dedicated library consisting of several books, magazines, journals, and other study materials.
  • The campus is huge, covering 600 acres.
  • They have the biggest sports ground. Students are also provided with a gym and basketball court.
  • The entire campus is wifi enabled.

Cons:

  • The placements are average. The number of companies visiting the college has gradually decreased.
  • The lab equipment is not well maintained or upgraded.
  • Andhra University follows the age-old curriculum with little to no changes.
  • Students are told to put more emphasis on theoretical learning than practical.
  • Exams are mostly based on theories rather than practicals.

Overall, it is an above-average institution. It may not be like the IITs or NITs but still works well. It is suggested that you opt for this only if you have missed the opportunity to study in the IITs or NITs.

Is a BA programme a good course if I do it from DU?

PR
Prakriti Raina Posted On : October 12th, 2022
LLB from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi

BA at DU can be BA (Program), BA (Hons), and in Honors, you can take the specialization course in Economics, Political Science, History, English, Hindi, Geography, and so on.

Furthermore, if you expect to get a higher percentage in BA courses, you are mistaken. Students at Delhi University typically receive very low grades. The average score is between 51 and 58%. It would not surprise me if someone became a University topper with only 58% of the marks.

So, just for the DU brand, choose the BA program and if you want to work in the civil service, you're on the right track.

What is your review of The Ohio State University?

PM
Prashanta Mehta Posted On : January 13th, 2021
MS from The Ohio State University

OSU's variety and wide university culture may be amazing for many but surely there are still many who have mixed feelings about their time spent there. There are many good things to say about their programs, faculty and all the resources and facilities readily available. However you may find their obsession with football and Greek-life inspired groups frustrating and tiring.

However, Ohio State University is still a decent public university with campuses in Columbus, Ohio with regional campuses at Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Wooster and Newark. If you are a party loving person who loves alcohol parties and all other sorts of things that happen with it, you will totally enjoy the campus life. However if you want a quiet environment with a lot of focus on education, you may not enjoy the campus life to the fullest.

It is ranked well and thus still a good choice even now–

  • QS World University Rankings (2021) - #108
  • THE World University Rankings (2021) - #80
  • US News Best National Universities Ranking (2021) - #53

Now let’s look at the various aspects of the university on which you should base your decision –

Coursework – The best things about the university are its professors who are top notch. The course curriculum is also designed very well and the various facilities that are required for the coursework are excellent as well. This is good for the graduate programs. However the undergraduates and intro graduate programs have ineffective pedagogy.

Teaching Experience – The faculty interaction will be limited because the labs and lecture halls are huge along with a large number of students. You will be taught by Teacher Assistants (TA) and even professors who will just read out the notes and you will find the lectures difficult to comprehend. You will read for exams and then quickly forget them as you move on.

Campus or University culture – Sports is a big part of the campus culture, especially its football team. Thus there can be frequent inconveniences, especially during weekend matches when you may have your cars being towed away from the parking lot to accommodate alums’ vehicles.

So finally to conclude, the teaching experience may be somewhat similar at other universities as well. However, if you want to have a rich education and you are not a huge fan of the party culture, you may very well stay away from the school and apply for some other liberal arts colleges.

What is your review of IIIT Nuzvid?

SK
Simran Kaur Posted On : May 15th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies(2016)

The facilities are quite good but you will not find smart graduates here. The classrooms are good with 3-star accommodation. Everything including the notices is sent online.

  • A peculiar thing that you will notice is that everyone here uses Linux as an operating system including Fedora, Ubuntu, and Zorin.
  • There are no hard copy textbooks and it is a smart campus with no electrical lines seen anywhere.
  • In your first year, you will do well, plus there is no entrance exam to gain admission.
  • Infrastructure-wise, the college is good. It was mainly started to boost village students to gain exposure to higher education.
  • It also gives an option of 6 years of free education to prevent girls from getting married too early.
  • There are also free food and hostel facilities for underprivileged students. However, the main drawback is that it could shrink the mindset of many students by making them complacent.
  • You will also find really good faculty that will help you secure a job later. Most lecturers here are individuals who have done well in their subjects.
  • Underprivileged students also get the opportunity to access movies and the internet.

Overall, it is a good place but most students end up being intelligent and not street smart here.

What is your review of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT-RKL)?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 14th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

  • NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
  • The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
  • Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
  • The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
  • Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
  • The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
  • The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
  • The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
  • The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
  • Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
  • The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.

These were some snippets from the detailed experience shared by my friend. Hope this helped you.

What are some reviews for Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in Meerut?

SA
Shashank Arora Posted On : September 30th, 2021
BCA from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (2017)

According to the reviews of the college I read online, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University is a good university, especially for its medical and dental departments. The other departments, especially B.Sc. Computer science department, and Polytechnic, are more or less ordinary.

  • Apart from academics, the college is really enthusiastic and engaged in clubs and societies.
  • Sports are encouraged by the college.
  • They have two semi-proficient alliances in cricket and football.
  • The canteen facilities are really good and affordable.
  • The organization is the best and provides you with the best facilities.
  • They have highly experienced faculty members along with newly trained teachers to provide the modern perspective.
  • The student crowd can be a bit overwhelming. But other than that it is quite the same as any regular college.
  • It is a good college, but if you seriously want a stricter study environment, look for other options. As it can be at times very lenient.

If you're seeking medical school, look no further and enroll in Subharti as soon as possible. However, if you want to pursue any other study, make it a backup option, as there are many other institutes to look for also.
