Is it true that the second generation AIIMS (Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh) are suffering from lack of faculty and hightech medical instruments for MBBS UG course?
MBBS from any AIIMS is equally good and anyone who claims otherwise has false information or hasn’t been exposed to the facilities of these peripheral AIIMS.
As for the high-tech medical instruments, UG MBBS does not require such equipment and the course is conducted mostly through clinical exposure and not research work. For this, we need enough cadavers, well-furnished labs, OTS, and well-maintained lecture theaters.
Every AIIMS provides these top-notch facilities and has excellent infrastructure that promotes a healthy academic environment. The quality of the infrastructure is further proved by the pic below
What you see here is a modular OT and a high-tech faculty that is present only in institutes of national importance because of funding from the government.
AIIMS faculty recruitment is unique and thus it’s not easy to take in just anyone as a teacher here. Moreover, the faculty shortage does not affect the quality of education.
The results of all these AIIMS and the successful doctors they have produce are a testament to their worth and credibility that is almost the same as AIIMS Delhi.
What is the difference between a grant non grant course at Fergusson College Pune Does it affect the future of a degree Are classes held differently and teaching staff different?
I can tell you my friend’s experience as a non-grant BA student. The fee structure is usually high for Non-Grant. It is so because the faculty are paid from the students' fees and not from the government fund.
The teachers are temporarily hired who often lack proper experience. You will also be not given a choice to select the subjects and will study 6 compulsory subjects. This is a huge setback as you have to study it even though you lack interest in any particular subject.
One of the positive things about the Non-grant course is that lectures are continuous and end at 10:50 AM. After that, you will be free for the rest of the day. On the other hand, students admitted to Grant courses have to stay in college longer.
Due to a small batch in non-grant courses, there are good chances of getting the preferred major in 2nd-year. It is so because the seats for grant and non-grant are equal.
There is a more diverse crowd in non-grant courses and you will find students from all over the country.
What are the dual degrees courses like at IIIT-Allahabad?
IIIT began its dual degree programs in 2013 which looked like B.Tech + M.Tech Dual Degree in I.T with specialization in Robotics and Software Engineering. Forwarding to the next year, an addition was made to these courses, and a couple of more programs were added.
For your convenience I am listing a few of them in detail so that you can get an idea of the structure:
- B.Tech (IT) - MTech (IT) with specializations in:
- Software Engineering
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Intelligent Systems
- Bioinformatics
- B.Tech (ECE) - MTech (ECE) with specialization in Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering
- B.Tech (IT) - MBA (IT)
- B.Tech (ECE) - MBA (IT)
After completing the 5-year dual-degree program, you will be awarded the B.Tech. + M.Tech./MBA degree. you will find that the first 6 semesters are the same as the B.Tech. (IT)/B.Tech. (ECE) program and the rest have elements of a PG program.
If you go for a lateral entry into the PG (M.Tech. (IT)/ M.Tech. (ECE)/MBA) program then you will get elective courses in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th semesters. You may be allowed to change your specialization after the 1st semester, considering your academic performance.
Other such programs include Microelectronics, Biomedical Engineering, MBA in IT, and others. There are good internship and placement opportunities available if you choose the 5-year program. You will work on two small projects, 2 major projects and will have TO submit an M.Tech thesis. In addition to these, in your 3rd year, you can either take up industrial training or a research project under a professor at IIIT A or any other University of your choice. In your fourth year, you will be allowed to sit for placements.
Is there a way to change our course in NIT Trichy after first year?
No, after the first year it is certainly not possible to change branches in NIT Trichy. You will have to stay in the same department which you will be allotted during the JOSAA counseling.
But there is an internal sliding in all NITs after the completion of allotments where you can change your department in a particular branch. For example, if you are assigned Production Engineering, then you can move to Instrumentation and Control Engineering as both of them are under the electronics branch and the syllabus for both of them are similar.
So, what you can do is look up the allotment list for closing ranks of each department and try to estimate whether or not you will be eligible for internal sliding. Usually, the top 5 rankers (opening rank) from each department are eligible for internal sliding. However, this number varies depending on the people applying and the vacancies in a department.
How does the TI sponsored MS program at IIT Madras stand out against the M.Tech courses at various IITs?
If you are considering pursuing an MS program in India, being sponsored by Texas Instruments (TI) to do it at IIT Madras is a great option to consider. Here are some reasons why:
- Salary and bond period: If you are sponsored by TI, you may receive a salary or a part of it during your studies. However, it's important to note that there may be a bond period involved, which means that you will have to work for TI for a certain period after completing your degree.
- Three-year program: The MS program at IIT Madras typically takes three years to complete, which is longer than the usual two-year program for an M.Tech degree. However, the additional year will allow you to do more in-depth research, which can be helpful if you plan to pursue a Ph.D. later on.
- Research opportunity: The MS program at IIT Madras will require you to conduct extensive research, which will give you valuable experience and skills that can be beneficial for your future career.
- Guidance from IIT and TI: You will receive guidance from both IIT Madras and TI during your MS program. You will be assigned a guide from IIT Madras, and you may also require guidance from TI, although the rules for this may vary.
- Option for an extension to Ph.D.: The MS program at IIT Madras can be extended to a Ph.D. program if you decide to continue your studies. This option can be advantageous if you are interested in pursuing a career in research or academia.
While an ME program from IISc or IIT from the old five + Roorkee is also a good option, it may not provide the same research experience as an MS program.
How is the operation research MSc and PhD dual degree in IIT Bombay?
The course Operations Research offered at IIT Bombay is an integrated Ph.D. course.
Duration: The course duration is 6 years, while the minimum is 5 years. It depends on how much time you take to complete your PhD. You can even extend it more than 6 years but won’t be receiving any stipend for the same. Another option is to opt out of an MSc degree after 3 years.
Compensation: Students are paid around INR 6000/- month for 2 years and then INR 25000 from third year.
Department: This course is offered by the IEOR( Industrial Engineering and Operations Research) department of IIT Bombay which is considered the best in India.
Courses: The courses offered are Industrial Engineering related and some pure operations research related. There are a large number of project courses since this is a research-oriented course. After successfully completing the first 3 years you get admission to a Ph.D. program provided that you qualify certain prerequisites.
Purpose of the course: The course targets students who are interested in research and stimulate them to pursue a career in Operations Research. Some students, however, instead sit for placements after the third year with an MSc degree and don’t go for Ph.D.
Placements: There is no use to mention placement as most of the small batch size opts out of placements to pursue PhD.
Suitability: The course is most suitable for those who are sure of kick-starting a career in research. You get to work on various projects under the guidance of great professors.
Selecting the best PhD advisor is very necessary to ensure a good career. The same professor then gives you a PhD in very less duration or even drags the time unnecessarily. The best part is that you don't need to clear any PhD entrance like UGC CSIR and can easily get a PhD admit with few formalities and end up with a doctorate degree in less than 6 years.
Which course is better salary wise for a civil engineer in NICMAR: ACM or PEM?
NICMAR is a good and reputed college with a stellar placement record. The 2018-2020 batch had over 90% placement percentage with more than 120 companies visiting the NICMAR (Pune) Campus for recruitment.
Mostly, the companies tend to offer similar packages for ACM as well as PEM. However, what does make a difference to it is the prior work experience of the candidates. So, it has got more to do with the individual capability than the branch, where higher salary placements are concerned.
Placement Opportunities:
- Placement opportunities in NICMAR for ACM are a little more as compared to those of PEM.
- In the 2020 placements of the institute, 571 students from Advanced Construction Management got successfully placed whereas Project Engineering and Management saw 239 student placement.
- Some of the frequent companies visiting the campus are Tata Consulting Engineering, Wipro Water, Reliance Industries, OYO Rooms, etc.
Do consider all your options before making a final choice. However, on the feedback received from some of the alumni of the institute, I would recommend you for Advanced Construction Management rather than Project Engineering and Management.
What are the GATE ranks for M.Tech courses at IIT Bombay?
Since my sister was a student of Civil Engineering branch at IIT Bombay, I have information about the same only.
- Structural Engineering: 1–250
- Geotechnical Engineering: 250–450
- Transportation Engineering: 400-550
- Water Resources Engineering: 500
- Ocean Engineering: don’t remember
The above ranks are for General Category only. Reserved categories can expect a call at a rank higher than that mentioned above. The overall admission procedure comprises 75% weightage to GATE score and 25% weightage to written test and interview.
Can we do a part time PhD in IIT Bombay?
Yes, you can definitely do a part time PhD in IIT Bombay. All you need to do is apply as an external category candidate.
Major highlights of part-time PhD in external category
- A supervisor from IIT B is assigned
- A supervisor from outside is selected
- Coursework depends on the qualifying degree (B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, etc.) and the criteria varies accordingly.
- For SJMSOM, IIT Bombay- A minimum of 52 credits is required if the candidate is not having an MBA (Not PGDM) and 40 credit is required if the candidate is having an MBA.
- You can go and attend classes and don’t have to necessarily leave the job
- Once the course period is completed, you get admission as a PhD Candidate and you can meet your guide as per your need.
Applications for part time PhD are accepted twice a year for Autumn and Spring Semester.
How is Electronics Engineering at IIT-BHU in terms of course structure, faculty and placements?
My friend is a recent graduate of Electronics and communication engineering from IIT(BHU) Varanasi. Here are a few highlights pertaining to the course based on his review of the same.
- Course structure: The curriculum is regularly updated to meet the industry standard and relevancy. The course structure is designed in such a way that most course-related subjects are introduced in the first year itself. Additionally, there are some CSE subjects to expand the job opportunities for the students.
- Faculty: Sadly, the faculty here is very lacking. Some even lack the most basic knowledge and just teach the students in their bookish language. The pedagogy adopted is old school bringing down the standard of education here. A few teachers recently joined and brought about slight changes in the pedagogy and the citation is expected to get better.
- Placements: Based on the data I got from my friend, the BTech ECE average package was INR 27.73 LPA. Usually, IIT BHU ECE average package is in the range of 20-22 LPA. Core companies like Nvidia and Texas Instruments hired many but top companies like Microsoft have no or fewer openings for CSE students.
IIT BHU is a good college if you are willing to do self-study and not depend on the faculty.
