How good is the MCA course at NIT, Surathkal?
The MCA program at NIT Surathkal is decent but I feel NIT Allahabad will offer a better course and opportunity. This is because, at MNIT Allahabad, most companies allow MCA students to sit for placements with CSE and IT students. One of my distant cousins pursuing an MCA from MNNIT Allahabad cleared Google Mt.View. Moreover, CSE, IT, and MCA share a common department here and the computer Club classes are also held for all CSE, IT, and MCA combined.
Whereas In NIT Surathkal, the MCA program is inclined more toward Application Development and thereby focuses more on the latest programming language and tools to develop better and faster applications. Its primary aim is to provide a modern, industry-oriented education in applied computer science.
In my opinion, you should choose MNNIT Allahabad for MCA as it has better placement opportunities.
How is the IIT Madras online course?
The online Programming and Data Science course offered by IIT Madras is an additional diploma that can be completed in 3-6 years. Despite the increasing demand, I think this course lacks the necessary rigor and is unnecessary.
- This course is usually undertaken by those who are already pursuing an offline engineering course alongside. Some even find it challenging to complete online assignments and give exams at their regular college.
- A major part of the curriculum is already available on NPTEL. The only additional benefits are the assignments, tests, and the diploma certificate at the end. Thus, if you are solely after the knowledge and content, many other better colleges and online portals offer the course at a much lower price.
- Most students choose this course for the IIT tag. But you don’t get to experience IIT campus life which is unique in itself. The students are always busy with some research work or learning new skills. You miss out on all these despite the high fees you are paying.
Ultimately you decide to make consider the pros and cons of the course. It’s advisable to talk to someone who has completed this course to get a better understanding of it.
What is the course structure for MBBS at AIIMS Delhi and other AIIMS institutes?
AIIMS Delhi MBBS course structure comprises 3 Profs instead of like other medical colleges.
First Professional
- The First Professional lasts for one year and consists of the following subjects; Physiology Anatomy and Biochemistry
- There are internal assessments that carry 50% weightage - 2 mid-semester exams in October and March, one end-semester exam in December
- The remaining 50% weightage is given to the first professional exam in July.
- Unlike other colleges, there are no sent-ups in AIIMS Delhi.
Second Professional
- The second Professional spans over 1.5 years and consists of the following subjects; Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine.
- There are 2 mid-semester exams; October of the 3rd Sem and March of the 4th Semester.
End-semester exams are held in December and May.
Pre Proffs take place in November and professional exams in December.
- Clinical postings in various departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obs Gynae, CCM, Psychiatry, etc
Third Professor
- After 2 hectic professionals, the third professional is relatively lighter
- The 6th-semester witnesses clinical postings and lectures
- The 7th Sem has no lectures and there are only clinical postings from 9–1 in various departments such as Orthopedics, ENT, Dermatology, etc.
- No exams are there and only viva-based posting assessments are held.
- The lectures end after June and students are given a preparatory leave for 3 months till October.
- The Preproffs carry 25% weightage, the internal assessments from the beginning of the 3rd Sem till the 8th carry 25 % weightage while Proffs taking place in December carry 50% - weightage.
This is the usual course structure followed by AIIMS Delhi.

Can I get a department change from a BS course to a B.Tech course in IIT Kanpur?
Yes, you can get a department change from a BS course to a BTech course at IIT Kanpur. The 2 most important things to consider during branch change are
- Your CPI and the CPI of those intending for branch change in the same branch you are planning to get shifted to.
- The availability of seats in the branch you want to get shifted to.
There is an additional criterion that comes to play rarely but one should be aware of it. This is
because Students are not allowed branch change if the strength in their parent department falls below a particular number (usually 55%).
Let me explain this to you with an example. If a student wants to change their branch from Earth Sciences to Physics and fulfills all criteria; the CPI and availability of seats in Physics yet, if the strength of Earth Sciences falls below 55% his branch change application will be rejected.
So these are some important points to consider before applying for branch change.
What's the BDP program at IGNOU?

The NMP program of MDI is a well-known program that was initiated in the year 1988. The program is best suitable for Young Managers. Coming to the placement part, most of the students choosing this program are sponsored by the company they were working at and hence have to join back their company once their program is completed.
The general placements are also decent with around 70% placement percentage. But placements depend mostly on the knowledge gained and implemented in your job. Your performance throughout the program determines your placement.
