If you are given a choice between IIITA and IIITD, take admission in IIIT Delhi hands down. You will never regret it. IIIT Delhi has everything that a good IT institution needs i.e. Great faculty, excellent domestic and international placements, and an overall great experience.

The cut-off for admission at IIITD ranges from 16694-28261. IIITD has a great set of faculty members and the curriculum is excellent.IIITD lacks diversity. With around 85% of the student community belonging to Delhi, it isn't catering to a pan-Indian audience. IIIT-Delhi students seemed frustrated with the workload and students are left with deadlines every single day and thus have no life out of academics.

IIIT Allahabad

The candidate must have cleared the JEE Mains. The cut off for admission at IIITA ranges from 1291-5330. IIITA has a great coding environment. Faculty is not up to the mark.

They both have a good curriculum but IIIT Delhi has so much more to offer. So If I were you, I would definitely choose IIITD.

If you are deciding between studying computer science engineering (CSE) at IIIT Delhi or MNNIT Allahabad, there are several factors to consider before making a decision. Here is some information that may help you weigh your options:

Campus Placements:

  • IIIT Delhi is a relatively new institute, and it's likely that campus placements will be good there because companies are always eager to hire fresh talent.

Why should I take IIITD over NSIT and DTU?

VG
Vishal Gupta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

Comparison of IIIT Delhi over DTU and NSIT should be based on some criteria:

  • Placement:

According to IIITD, in 2019 B.Tech CSE placed 98.96% of students and B.Tech ECE placed 94.59% of students. The average salary of the last batch is Rs. 15 lakhs. In the case of NSIT, they record around 90% of placement every year. The average salary of the last B.Tech batch is around 8 lakhs per year. DTU also gives around 11.17 lakhs per annum with 70-80% student’s placement per year.

  • Infrastructure:

Established in 2008, IIITD has a cutting edge infrastructure with high tech equipment. In NSIT, you might still find 2nd gen. computers.  The institute has no A.C facility in labs, classrooms. And in DTU, the operative condition of instruments is also weak, even not fully connected to Wi-Fi.

  • Facilities:

In the case of academic blocks and hostel facilities, IIITD has an auditorium and a total of 25 lecture halls of varying sizes. At present, there is one hostel for boys and one for girls. NSIT has 2 girl’s hostels and 2 boy’s hostels. Hostel life is wonderful in DTU. Hostel infrastructure is good along with badminton and TT court inside. There are 5 hostels for boys and 3 for girls.

  • Library:

In IIITD, the Library has a large collection of print and electronic media. With this, the institute has fully connected through the internet connection. The condition of the library of NSIT and DTU is also good, but the condition of books and print media is less compared to IIITD.

  • Fee structure:

IIITD is nearly Rs. 3,60,000 per year for B.Tech in 2019 -20, for M.Tech (CSE/ECE) 2019 it is nearly Rs.1,85,000 which is high as compare to NSIT where for B.Tech nearly  Rs. 1,66,000 per year (2019-20), and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,86,000. Whereas DTU charges Rs. 1,95,000 for B.Tech and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,66,000.

The IIITD got rank through NIRF 55th   in India. Whereas the NSIT ranked 11 among Engineering colleges by Outlook and 22 by the week in 2019. The DTU has got rank 36 for engineering by NIRF 2020.

Should I go for B.Tech Software Engineering in DTU or B.Tech Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in IIIT Delhi?

W
WhimsicalWombatWizard Posted On : April 17th, 2026

I want to clarify some misconceptions about IIIT-Delhi that seem to persist in various answers:

1. It's completely incorrect to say that there are no good peer groups, social life, extracurriculars, or campus life at IIIT-Delhi. In fact, students have a LOT of freedom to create and engage in extracurricular activities. For example, over the past two years, students were allowed to build a music room in the institute with equipment worth over 1.5 lakh (possibly more now)! We have a fully equipped jam room with 3 amplifiers (75w-100w), electric and bass guitars, a drum set, and many more instruments. And this was all funded by the institute! I really don’t understand where the idea comes from that there’s no extracurricular or social life here. This is just one aspect—an entire stage with high-quality equipment was set up at a technical festival just so that a few second-year students could perform for an audience.

2. It’s also misleading to claim that placements at IIIT-Delhi are poor and not competitive. The reality is that while non-technical placements may lag behind those of other institutes, the technical placements are quite strong.

SneakySloth Posted On : April 16th, 2026

If you’re certain about pursuing a master’s in a Mathematics-related field, go for IIIT Delhi. If you’re unsure, then DTU is a solid choice. Here’s why:

  • Life Balance: You’ll have a more relaxed and less hectic lifestyle at DTU compared to IIIT Delhi.
  • Placement Opportunities: Both colleges offer great placement opportunities, but DTU has a slightly broader range of options.

Choose based on your confidence in your future path!

Which one should I opt for IIT Delhi B.Tech Textile Technology or IIIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science and Design

P
PhantomPastry Posted On : April 15th, 2026

If you're looking at placements and career prospects, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Design is definitely more favorable than IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Textile Technology. IIIT Delhi reports that over 90% of students get placed, with high packages reaching around 2.5 crore, and companies like Amazon and Google actively recruit from there. In comparison, while IIT Delhi has a solid placement record, the highest packages and the nature of companies visiting for Textile Technology may not match the tech giants that IIIT attracts.

If you're aiming for tech roles with high earning potential, IIIT Delhi is the better option, but if you're interested in niche fields like textiles and want to innovate in that space, IIT Delhi could still be a good fit.

Which one should I opt for DTU B.Tech Mathematics and Computing or IIIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science and Biosciences

C
CelestialCicada Posted On : April 14th, 2026

Thank you for the !

So why should you choose Mathematics and Computing (MCU) at DTU over Computer Science and Social Sciences (CSSS) or Computer Science and Biosciences (CSB) at IIIT Delhi?

  • Easier to score a high CGPA at DTU.
  • DTU is an older institution, generally more recognized than IIITD, though that perception is changing.
  • Lower fees.
  • More free time.

Now, why should you choose IIITD over DTU?

  • You’ll be surrounded by tech-savvy and smart peers.
  • You’ll learn to balance various responsibilities and navigate corporate life, including communication skills and networking.
  • Highly qualified professors and solid course content. A good CGPA can open up numerous research opportunities abroad. So, if you’re considering CSSS or CSB and have research aspirations, IIITD is the better choice.
  • With the CS + X course, you’ll gain a specialization that enhances job prospects.
  • Regardless of your feelings about programming, you’ll need to be at least reasonably good at it to achieve a good grade. This will definitely equip you with valuable skills.

So there you have it—the pros of both colleges, based on my personal opinion. Best of luck!

EDIT: After reading other answers, I realized I didn’t address the Mathematics vs. SS/CB aspect. In my view, the decision should ultimately align with your interests. Mathematics courses that a
