VMOU Ph.D. Admission 2026 Begins; Apply by February 10 @vmou.ac.in

Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota, has begun admission for Ph.D. admissions for the January 2026 session. The university is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for admission into various Ph.D. programs in regular mode.

The VMOU has established a structured fee schedule for all admitted scholars. Students are required to pay a Registration Fee of Rs. 5,000. The core academic cost consists of a Tuition Fee of Rs. 25,000 per year. Candidates must cover a combined Library Fee and Library Caution Money totaling Rs. 4,000 (comprising Rs. 3,000 for the fee and Rs. 1,000 for caution money). For those in laboratory-based subjects, a Laboratory fee of Rs. 3,000 is also applicable. Finally, a Thesis Submission & Evaluation Fee of Rs. 10,000 is required at the concluding stage of the research.

The online application window opened on January 10, 2026, and will remain active until February 10, 2026. Following the application phase, eligible candidates must attend an in-person interview and document verification session scheduled for February 13, 2026, at the Gandhi Bhawan, VMOU, Kota. This verification process will take place between 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM on the specified date.

VMOU Ph.D. Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Educational Qualification: A Master’s degree or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
• Relaxation: A 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) is provided for SC/ST/OBC. (non-creamy layer) and Differently-Abled candidates.
• National Level Test: Candidates must have qualified Category I, II, or III in CSIR-UGC-NET/JRF, GATE, CEED, or similar national-level tests.

VMOU Ph.D. Admission 2026 Selection Process

The selection process is based on a combined merit system:

1. Direct Admission: Eligible candidates are called for an interview and document verification.
2. Interview (30 Marks): Candidates must present their research interest via a PPT presentation. Performance is evaluated based on domain knowledge (15 marks), research aptitude (10 marks), and general performance (5 marks).
3. Academic Performance (70 Marks): Weightage is given to marks obtained in Post-Graduate, Graduate, Senior Secondary, and Secondary examinations.
4. Additional Weightage: Extra marks (up to 20) are awarded based on UGC categories (A, B, or C).
