New Delhi: Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has collaborated with Volvo Group India to foster education related to the automobile industry in the country. As part of the MoU, VIT will launch a specialised credit programme in M.Tech designed to train students with the latest automotive industry technologies.
The MoU was signed by Mr Kamal Bali, Managing Director of Volvo Group India and VIT registrar T Jayabarathi, in the presence of VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan. The above-planned course will help you gain knowledge of industry technologies, practical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, best practices, and real-world challenges in the automobile industry.
The collaboration also facilitates knowledge-sharing opportunities through combined classes involving Volvo's technical experts along with VIT's faculty. The students admitted to the course will also get the opportunity to intern at Volvo during the course. Meritorious students can be potentially hired as post-graduate engineering trainees in Volvo.
According to the official statement, “These internships will allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. Moreover, it will also enable them to kickstart their careers in the automotive sector.”
Volvo Group India president Kamal Bali said, “We are in the midst of once in a life, eco-system-wide transformation in our Industry – where Volvo Group is deploying the latest in emerging technologies and propulsion systems towards our ambition to be Net Zero by 2040 and wherein we strive for a future which is 100% safe, productive and fossil-free.” No one stakeholder can shape this future. An ecosystem transformation requires collaboration across stakeholders, and this includes collaboration with academia, he added.
