The application window for SRM University Chennai PhD 2026 admission is open till October 31, 2025.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai, has begun the PhD admission process for the 2026 academic session. Interested candidates can apply online at admissions.srmist.edu.in until October 31, 2025.
As per the official schedule, the department-level entrance test and interviews will be held on November 10, 2025, while the provisional list of selected candidates will be released on November 18, 2025. The admission process also includes a stipend provision for eligible full-time research scholars.

SRM PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification with at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade. Those who have completed an M.Phil. with 55% marks are also eligible to apply.
A 5% relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and differently-abled candidates as per UGC norms. Applicants with degrees from recognized foreign institutions may also be considered if accredited by authorized agencies.
Registration Process
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official SRMIST admission portal, admissions.srmist.edu.in, by completing the registration and making the required e-payment.
Applicants must ensure that all mandatory fields marked with an asterisk (*) are duly filled in the form. Before starting the application, candidates should keep scanned copies of their passport-size photograph (200 x 230 pixels) and signature (140 x 60 pixels) ready for upload.
After successful submission, an application number will be generated, which should be retained carefully for future correspondence.
SRM University offers a monthly stipend of ₹31,000 to all full-time PhD scholars for a maximum period of three years. Candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR-NET (including JRF), GATE, or GPAT are eligible for an enhanced stipend of ₹37,000 per month, also for up to three years.
The continuation of the stipend each year is subject to the scholar’s satisfactory research progress and performance evaluation.
In terms of the refund policy, candidates who withdraw before joining (within 30 days) will receive a refund after a ₹1,000 deduction. Those who withdraw within 30 days after joining are eligible for a 50% refund, while candidates withdrawing after 30 days of joining will not be entitled to any refund.
