RGUHS BDS Exams 2020 Postponed; Check Schedule Here

Rajiv Gandhi University Health Sciences(RGUHS) postpones the BDS examination 2020, due to the impact of the pandemic situation in the Karnataka State. 

Recently, A notification was issued by RGUHS regarding the postponement of the BDS examination 2020, which was scheduled to be held from October 13, 2020. As per the notification, the BDS examination 2020 for the I, II, III year of BDS were postponed, due to the high caseloads of the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state.

The revised schedule for the BDS examination 2020 is yet to be published by the University. Registrar, N Ramakrishnan Reddy said that the IV year BDS students will appear for the scheduled BDS examination that is to be held on October 14, 2020. 

RGUHS authorities stated that as per the plan, the examination for all the students from the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course will be held on October 13, 2020.

Most of the dental students were relieved to hear the news about the postponement of the examination. While the MBBS students expressed their disregard towards the University for considering only the dental students and not the MBBS students. 

One of the MBBS students from the third year pointed out that the MBBS students are equally at high risk of getting infected, by appearing for the examination. Another cause for concern is that the exam is going to be conducted inside the hospital campus, where the Covid-19 patients are also being treated.

Previously, the MLA Soumya Reddy from Jayanagar had requested the varsity in a letter mentioning to postpone the examination if it couldn't be conducted through online mode. The infection can be contracted more if the students from various parts of India appear for the examination, she said. 

K Sudhakar, the medical education minister questioned that if the students from class X can attend the exams amid the pandemic, why can't the dental and medical students appear?. Further, he said if the medical exams are postponed, the medical students might lose a year.

However, Necessary safety precautions and guidelines will be followed while conducting the exams, he promised. MBBS exams were scheduled to be held from September 15 but were delayed and postponed to October 13, 2020, due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

There are 52 medical and 38 dental colleges affiliated to RGUHS across the state.
